We've been so busy over the last couple of weeks, this video is just clips I've taken when we have had chance. Hopefully you find it bearable :) let me know what you think!
Great to watch you grapple with keeping British armour history alive! Your collective engineering knowledge is both invaluable and admirable. Really like the rough assemblage style of this video, too, so maybe throw one in the mix every now and again? Best wishes to the team from Wirral.
That was a really interesting vlog, thank you. It is not always necessary to spend time producing a perfect video, a selection of clips making up a story is good work, and so natural. I hope to get to visit you in a few weeks time.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you, drop us a message when you know when and we’ll happily show you around and show what’s currently happening in the workshop :)
Hi, we called around about 4 weeks ago when you were working to get the AVRE to Tankfest, and the young lad showed us round while you were hard at it. Very impressed with all you do there, an excellent visit, thank you.
I would be happy to watch a vidio from a camera just looking across the shed at whatever comes into view. This place is amazing. Thankyou for the effort in every respect. cheers from down under.
Great update, don't worry about content you have so much interesting & well maintained material sitting in the workshop. Hope to visit the museum, after hearing your see & sit recommendation, in the summer!
Keep up the good work , nice to hear GU go online again and the main engine fire up , not sure of the exhaust box at the back , albeit interesting . All the best and will subscribe from now on .
Chieftain reliability. The reason we got so much practice at crawling under the belly to fit the tow chains on the rear hooks for loading using the Antar winches. Singing "Mud, mud, glorious mud" by Flanders and Swann
A new video from the Norfolk Museum complete with rains and trains and a leaking Chieftain. All is right in the world again. I never really minded when the fuzzy mic crept into view. Better to see it than hear the wind noise without it IMHO. I hope you all had a great opening. It's been weeks from hell here as well, but this puts a smile on my face.
@@tinkeringwithtanks it's the least I can do. I know what a PIA it can be recording and editing. Y'all in are my top 5 heavy vehicle channels (and I'm only subscribed to 6). It is very interesting to see the differences in how various folks work. I much enjoyed when y'all showed up on the FV4005 project! What an opportunity!
couple of things ... can we see the vid of when a welding spark goes down the inside of your boot and you doing a jig and can i gave the cracked bowl so i can draw it in cad many thanks
Best tank of its era if it broke down in the right place! but jokes aside once you get to the mk11 engines all the teething problems had been ironed mostly out, ours has a mk13a the best mark of the l60. far better than the later mk13a2 engine
I'll never buy a non genuine CAV filter head ever again!! i brought that engine with a broken filter housing and didn't think using a slightly cheaper alternative would cause so much trouble! new CAV one is already in the post to us!
It’s been mental here! Hopefully by mid week I should be back on track. Your pistons are sitting on my bench I plan on getting to them this week with the ones for the rebuild. I’d like to build the engine to a long block in the next couple of weeks :)
Nice looking Saracen. Good luck with the Chieftain and best wishes from a new sub in jolly old Norfolkshire 👍😎Pete 🤓. Are you the museum that's near Long Stratton?🤔
We're open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday 9 till 5 if message us on Facebook and let us know when u are coming and we will personally show you around 😎
Thanks for the reply. I’m friends with David Hardy, whom I’ve helped with his Mk2 Antar restoration, who I believe is a trustee of the NTM. I look forward to a visit most probably on a Wednesday in a few weeks time. Cheers guys.
Generating unit engine (GUE) Provides the tank with electrical power and hydraulic start :) 350amp alternator the main engine only has 150amp which only produces power over 1000rpm

Great to see you ready for the museum to open. Hoping to come up this summer and visit. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Like style of showing wharts and all of being custodians of British military history
Good old chieftains they are perfect and totally fine and reliable
To be fair ours are normally well behaved!
@@tinkeringwithtanks they certianly have a worse reputation than they deserve but its still not the best

that makes things slightly easier when you don't fave fuel problems
