Yeah boi 🤙🏼 Reno season is in the air 🎉
💯
You’d think Mr Sims would hook you up with the eco250
@@MattHew-dy1wl if only he lived closer 😝
These scalping mowers are wild, we have nothing like that in NA.
NA? North America ? If so yeah you guys over there generally mow so much taller than us. Shame you dont have access to these mowers, You'd be amazed at what they can do
Drill another hole for the bushranger, should get you down to dirt. Ben did it on his scalp mower.
As I mentioned to another fella in the comments it’s hard for me to recommend drilling holes to lower the height. I know I can do it. I know my capabilities, but if someone had a go and drilled it wrong etc who knows what could happen.
Another great video mate keep ‘em coming 👌
Thanks mate
Excited to see what you and Emmo get up to at his place in the future
His prob gunna work me hard as after that reno haha
Awesome reno vid mate !!!!
Thanks mate
Another great video. Can't wait to see it come in!
Thanks mate
Mate I love a good reno and this was extremely satisfying to watch, I always enjoy the start of the Aussie season just as the UK season is winding down, really helps get me through the winter. 🤜🤛
Stay warm mate, I cant imagine a UK winter would be much fun. Stay tuned mate heaps more warm sunny mowing vids coming up
Great vid 👌 👍
Thanks 👍
Great video Brenton, you and Ben are the best in the business. Really learnt alot from your video today.
I appreciate that mate thank you
Great video mate really enjoyed all the valuable information in this video 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it Zac 😎
I have the same utility mower and engine . I have removed the chute , I now make up my own lawn mower Blades. I get the basic blade cut to size at a local metal supplier. I then bend a lift profile , then heat treat them.
Stock this mower has 2 standard blades. I run 4 high lift blades and the results are amazing.
Are you referring to the victa or the bushranger mate
Great video, love the Reno work, nothing better than getting the lawn ready
Thanks mate it was a hard slog that’s for sure but the results will be worth it
@@theaussielawn are you still using your ezyflo set up?
@@jerometeal1994 absolutely. It’s time to top it up with more stuff soon
@@theaussielawn perfect 👍 such a great time saver, I’m building a new house down here In Victoria and I will be putting one in for sure
John Deere makes a mean vaccum cleaner 😅
It really does make life easier thats for sure
Awesome work! I'm renoing next weekend in South aus.
Good luck with it mate. 😎
Awesome vid! Emo is a star too. Look forward to seeing it recover. I still think your Santa Ana looks better when it’s at its peak
Haha he went ok for his first time I reckon
Great video, some fantastic comments from you. "We've (?) done first pass" well I think you did one stripe Brenton. Only so much of a video you can make" but you keep at it mate and I'll see how many interesting angles I can get, and how much material you're getting out.
Hahahaha
I did mine last weekend here in Perth, it'll be a checker board with the mow master in 3 weeks😊
Not doubt mate, those mow master machines are a great mower
31:32 I love getting on the gear....
Hahaha I realised what I said during the edit 😂😂😂
Brenton mate, awesome reno! It was great to meet you the other day at narellan and have a good chat! Antony with the buffalo here if u remember me😊 pls include some irrigation clips in future videos, love a bit of ASMR🥰 can’t wait to see the tiftuf bounce back!
Yeah I think I do remember you. I think you had a bit of a slope up to your house?
@@theaussielawn yeah that’s right - we spoke about heavy reno’ing buff and you told me not to do so this yr coz it looked too good for now🤣 u also mentioned that u thought I looked like some other bloke that u met at another meet with Ben sims🤣
I went through the same problem with utility mowers, none of them really go low enough anymore. The Victa 460 has a spacer ring under the engine so its lowest height is now an inch 🤦♂️ The lowest HOC rotary I could find was the steel base catcher model Masports, some of which go down to 6mm.
That’s very frustrating. I do know about the spacer you mentioned I thought it may have had something to do with the Briggs motor on them . But have since seen an older 460 with a flat head Briggs on it. It was sitting on the deck minus the spacer .
Ben at lawntips drilled an additional hole in the height lever to get his one lower
I have a new Victa 460, yes very frustrating that its lowest HOC is 1". The spacer ring is too tall, bringing the blades about 12.5mm up from the deck base, so you remove the ring, and install shorter spacers to lower the motor down, and you need shorter bolts also. Now the mower has a HOC of about 12-13mm. Technically, if you then swapped the 8" wheels for 7" wheels, it should get you down to zero. Im yet to swap my wheels to confirm... gave up and restored a 460 2 stroke
I use that model professionally to do my lawn scalps. One year on, maybe 300 reno jobs and still works a reat
You mean the Bushranger ?
I really like it’s construction . Just hope I can get it to go marginally lower
@@theaussielawn yep the bushranger. Great machine
Doing it this way is probably abit easier on the machine then the way Ben Simms did his one the 2stroke wouldnt have minded but quicker to get it done i reckon👍
Yeah i we definitely needed to get through it as quickly as possible it was a long hard day that’s for sure haha
Steel River is hot
Haha Did he pay you for that comment ? 😂
Looks like you need to watch Ben's reno. He just drilled another hole to drop it lower on a similar machine. 😉
It’s actually the exact same mower. I just don’t want to promote drilling holes in a mower to the public then something goes wrong and someone gets hurt . I know I can do it but I don’t know other people’s capabilities if that makes sense
@@theaussielawn True. Also likely voids the warranty.
@@lvond555 yup that’s why I want to handball it back to them . I feel there’s definitely a market there for such a mower imo
Great Vids! I was wondering if you have a timing chart or schedule of when to do all this stuff. Just layed my tiftuf 8th Sep 23. Melbourne. Im a nubie, whens best to scalp and top dress, should i wait till next year. Thanks heaps
If you have a look through my earlier vids there are some there from planting to top dressing and short mowing it
Following closely for the tiftuf content...varying suggestions on fertlizer rates for it from the turf farms. Some say half rate, others 1/3 and others 1/4
It would depend also on soil types and it’s ability to hold nutrients. I’d say 1/2 rates
Good morning Brenton fantastic video. Thanks so much for the review on the Bushranger 53THU6 mower i was looking at this machine to scalp my lawn a bit disappointing it won't go low enough. I have been using Acelepryn now for 4 years 2 times per year and always have to apply another product in February due to African black beetle is there any tricks to applying the Acelepryn that I don't know about. Thanks again great video.
Don’t necessarily rule out the Bushranger mower just yet. It seems to work fine for Ben he has the SupaSwift branded one . But it’s the exact same mower just different stickers
Cheers mate look forward to see what happens
You mentioned about the possibility of starting a new lawn with the waste material.
Just out of curiosity how long can it be stored for before it becomes not viable?
Like is it something that would need to be done on the same weekend?
Pending your answer it could make an interesting timeframe experiment video.
Turf farms might not like it though if you make it seem too easy 😂
Yeah It would need to be replanted as quickly as possible or kept damp cool and out of direct sunlight then you might get a few days from it
Great job mate. 👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Hey BK awesome video mate 32 minute reno vid lets goooo! I am curious if you worry about the material blowing into the mulch beds and starting to grow haha?
Hmm 🤔 I will have to keep a little eye out for any tiftuf that may take root but hopefully the clippings got too dry to be a real concern
@@theaussielawn Yeah man you would probably have to be pretty unlucky for something to take hold haha but you never know with couch!
I think I'll skip doing the buffalo this year since I did it last year and I don't think it needs it. Might just top dress with compost
Enjoy your reno mate
Love a good scalp! Means it’s growing season. Mate that topdress spreader is unreal any idea down Sydney way or Wollongong I can hire one of those bad boys? Mate I’m really keen on doing a full Reno on my front lawn this spring and keen on tiff tuff but face south but not sure if shadows and shade will be an issue and experience with tiff tuff and shade, I like the empire zoysia as well but pretty expensive per m2 and advice would help 👍
Yeah I believe if you get hold of Sydney Cylinder mower Hire they have one available or will do soon watch my buffalo vid that went live on the 30/9/23 it talks bout south and shade haha .
@@theaussielawn cheers mate I’ll check out the vid about shade still get a solid 5 hours over warmer months, heaps of lawnies raving bout T31 as well so might need to do bit of research 👍
After starting a new lawn from the thatch, how long of an establishment would you recommend before using herbicide products?
It really depends on the herbicides eg barricade id nearly wait until I was happy with the lawn, Other selective knockdown products you can use sooner
Hi, Brenton, I live in Muswellbrook, may I ask where you got the topdress.
Hi mate get onto Scott and see if he can get you some. Tell him you want what I have facebook.com/scottstipperhire?mibextid=LQQJ4d
Thanks
Mate,
Ive just laid tiftuf a few days ago here in Melbourne.
Would you recommend scalping it on the first cut and top dressing??
Hi mate have a look at my earlier video on the first cut of my tiftuf it might give you some inside to your options ruclips.net/video/zDWoQYJOgUw/видео.htmlsi=w_kdR8FXT8s0UxG4
if youre happy with your lawn level/soil do you have to top dress if you have cored your lawn/reno
The short answer is no you don’t . But if you do core every year and don’t top dress you may find your surface levels do change over the years
Thanks for getting back. I do normally top dress but this season I am really happy with my levels/soil profile but, I did core and spread it back into the profile then best I could.
Does make sense if you cored every year that you levels would change
Why do you dethatch before scalping?
I find it a bit quicker and easier on the mower
How's Pedro's lawn mate?
Looking really good mate he fertilised the other day .
@@theaussielawn very nice
