Again the Gold Standard in product demos! Well done Pete! 🤘🎸👍
Pete reminds me a lot of Dean DeLeo and imho Dean maybe the most under appreciated guitarist in Rock. Song writing, Playing, Creativity you name it he is high class.
Thanks man! Always been a fan of his
Great playing and great sounds. But, I like the sound of the PT alone best. It is just amp perfection.
1:53 HAHAHA! Great opening tracks! BALLLLLLLZ!!!!
*Like how you iso the tracks to really hear the tone of the modules Overall a great concept to achieve amp sounds.*
Dog gone!!!!! That is definitely in my top three Pete Thorn intros!
That hilarious smile at the end takes it into the top two for good humor. :)
Love how you mixed the various Synergy modules with you channels on your Suhr PT-15.
That groove played on the Dano is sick. Great playing.
Dude, you're a freeking monster. Really enjoyed the impromptu collab you did with Chris Buck. That guy is smooth. If the two of you had a nicest guy in the world contest, I'm not sure who would win.
...starting slow and wonderful followed by raising to what sounds to me like fretboard on fire! Hats up Sir you surely have made your deal and i'm happy that you share the outcome with us! :) Still sitting with goosebumps watching the first two minutes again! Thank you very much!
This reminds me of those randall modular amps that came out 10 years ago. I like how the synergy can be used with virtually any amp with a loop though. Great playing Pete!
Rohan Khemraj You can use these modules in the original Randall/Egnater modular amps too. I actually have this Syn-1 thingy. I love it. Adds two channels. The Syn-2 adds four. Pretty nifty
@@markkozielec2200 sounds close to the real deal? I own an Engl Savage and a Randall Satan both with parallel loops and I might buy this... (although the Randall has a series loop too)
Kiss Shot Acerola Orion Heart Under Blade Shinobu I mean, I haven’t actually sat there and did a comparison. Most are designed by the actual designer. So, Engl designed the preamp for Synergy. As did , Soldano, Morgan, Friedman, etc. Friedman even designed the Plexi module for them. All that being said, there are factors that change the sound. Power amp, speaker, cabinet, etc. I believe they’re close, but not exact. Definitely fun to play with though.
@shakee blake I didn't forget. My only Amp is my Randall MTS RM20. Hoping to get a Synergy Module soon. But being about $400 per Module , I'll be waiting for a bit. Bruce Egnater is a genius.
Damn Pete... That opening riff is super badass. Excellent playing brother. Melted my face off.. Pt 15 channel 2 by itself sounded the best... Absolutely killer.
I saw some demos of these a couple years ago and thought it was interesting. Then I never heard of them again. Glad they didn’t go away.
it would be cool to hear the synergy series with the amp simulation, as well as finding out what IR possibilities we have for this so we could make this system truly compact and portable! Thanks for the always great reviews Pete
OMG Pete! I didn't know they gave you a direct out to the FOH or etc...!! That is just totally awesome. These guys really captured the idea "this time" I'm sure you know what I mean. Bruce and his genius tech of days past deserves some props of course. Bless you pal.
Your Demos are the real Deal! Thank you Pete! See you next year on the Guitar Summit!
Holy balls is this one of Pete's songs or just a demo. Absolute killer writing (and playing)!
I wanna know where I can buy this song LOL
I love using the synergy modules with my Axe Fx 3
I remember when Randall made amps with modular preamp sections. I always assumed that you were just swapping out tone stacks, but I know you can run these modules into the old Randall and Egnater M4, so I was clearly wrong. I know you have to set them for the cathode bias (dual/split/etc), I think you can only use one channel if you run these into those amps though.
1: Expand that track, and release it! 2: You have gotten even smoother. This love thing becomes you... 2: The Black One is back with a new Vib! I missed it, it´s the coolest looking one.
Reminds me of the old Seymour Duncan convertible amps. I used to own the rack-mount version of that. Wish I still did!
I was looking at these a while ago when I was jonesing for my old Egnater M4 modular system. Nice to hear it in action!
Pete, as always your playing is inspiring and original. Great Song and Demo. A joy to watch and hear.
Thanks!!!
Love you Pete! Inspiration and dedication at 100% as always.
Thanks!!!
I'm glad to see you wearing "The Police" tee shirt! Those guys were fantastic and so are you! Thanks Pete!!!
I came here for the playing and tones,, but what a good demo. Only problem is, he makes them all sound so good,, I don't know which 2 to get.
Aaaah that sounds amazing 7:16
What a great player! These pre amps sound really good. His pt 15 sounded the best to me but adding channels to my amp would be awesome.
The adding channels is very clever!
9:22 twas that this point I thought King's X like -- love it - cheers!
The descending riffs at 1:37 and 1:52 were sweet my man!
Bravo! Huge tones. Thanks Pete! (That baritone section was BANGIN'!🤟)
Wow... just wow. These all sounded great! If I were to buy one I really don't know which one I'd choose.
I'm sold.
Nice tune as well Pete! Great demo, playing and writing....
Love the Synergy Amplification system!
allways love your playing, your grooves are some of the best...
Fantastic playing Pete.
Thank you
Great demo as usual. I like the way you used these modules.
Pete,
Hey man the gear is fantastic. I have a crappy 50 watt amp with a fizzy dirt channel which I hate... but I dropped 6v6 power tubes in it and the clean channel is now dam good. So basically I use my clean channel and pedals. So yes! The Synergy is perfect for me.
But dude thats not the actual reason for my comment.
I watch a crap ton of RUclips guitar channels including yours, and after a while its easy to get "numb" to guitar playing in general. I love it, but I just dont get "wowed" nearly as much as I used to.
So just wanted to remind you that you are a freeking MONSTER player. You did stuff in this simple little demo...just off the top of your head that just sounded awesome. Dude WOW! You are one talented mo fo! Take a bow. My hat is off to you!
Thanks
Thank you man! I try and keep the riffs and the music interesting and fresh!
Hi Pete! So, as always, I absolutely LOVE your gear reviews and demos! So thorough and awesome!
Looking back, I used to use big, heavy tube amps, but tried to scale down a bit with the digital stuff and ended up with an AxeFX and Matrix 1000FX PA, but that took me down a rabbit hole that made me miss my traditional amps. That being said, I have recently discovered these Synergy preamps and seriously considering trying them out, but had a question about power amps…
I know that Synergy is pushing their modules with the 50/50 tube PA, but was wondering your opinion on what these module preamps would sound like through a Matrix 1000FX? I’d like to save as much weight as possible as that is what inspired me to go with a SS power amp in the first place, but I’d hate to diminish the feel & sound of these modules if they just don’t work well with a SS vs tube power amp.
Would greatly appreciate your feedback, as you have so much experience with this gear and would offer an unbiased opinion from real-world experience. Thanks so much and keep rockin’, my friend! 🎸🎶
Really good playing and sounds.
Great demo 👌 Pete!!
This is some seriously quality riffage! Fantastic demo!
Thank you Matt!
Great sounds Pete thorn and examples
This is the video I've been waiting for . I've been wanting to hear the slo and and hbe next to each other . Don't really sound like theirs that much of a difference. Both sound like a moded plexi . What would you say the differences are
pete your a guitar wizard!
Forget about the amps, that playing was jaw dropping.
SLO alone is the reason I want this!
I have always wanted a Soldano Decatone. I have thought of getting the Syn30 amp.
I am considering the Magnatone Super Fifteen, that has a fx loop. Using the Syn-1 and that amp would be killer combining modern channels to other amps.
Pete is HANDS DOWN the BEST instrumental classic rock songwriter I've heard. Of course his demos kick ass, but his songs to demo the gear have so many hooks and tasty things going on that I can literally listen to his compositions for hours on end.
Marshall style...yea, that's there. Very nice job!
Thanks Pete amazing demo!
Great video! Great sounds! Keep it going!
Hi Pete! Amazing video 🤘 I'm curious how you think the synergy system would sound with a solid state amp? Thanks!
Great demo. I know Steve Vai has said this kind of thing is where he sees the future of amplifiers going
The Vai one is pretty cool sounding,, and I expected to hate it LOL
No offense to Synergy BUT the PT-15 sounded the best to me. Great video.
Tom Harhai Totally agree...clean and dirty.
Great video, as you always do Pete!
Synergy completely rejuvenated my guitar playing. John Browne from Monuments put me on to them. Then I saw that they were endorsed by Steve Vai. Any chances of a Suhr PT module???
Edward Patrick White I think there will be another new module or two announced over the next week or so. There was lots of chatter a couple of months back about a couple new ones, excluding the Vai one, on their Facebook page. Some people were busting balls about how long it takes them to release modules(they have had a pretty bad track record from announcement to release), and their moderator commented that we’d all be surprised this summer. I hope it wasn’t shit talk. The last batch released are killer
Mark Kozielec - I do want the Vai one. Imagine it will be pretty close to the Carvin Legacy tonally. I just know that PT has the UAD software license going but I’m not a fan of emulations really and there’s no way I’d get the head. So a Synergy Module of the PT/Suhr collaboration would be ace.
Question: How would you get your time based effects (delay, verb) if the Synergy is taking up your effects loop? I understand that I could add those in my daw, but what about using this live? Great video, as usual.
The synergy has an effects loop and you can patch effects there and they will work with both your amplifier preamp and when you’re using the syn preamp.
Another great track!!! 👍👌 Pete !
holy shit that intro track... some people play simple chords but pete always goes for the grammy winner. best guitar related gear videos on youtube. Your composing skills are just something else man.
Edit: Will you do a video on the new boss tube amp expander?
Thanks man!!!
Wish I could meet him and learn from him.
Your new Hit single wow !!!
Very cool and great content as always!
killer demo Pete as always thanks
thanks!
Yeah, yeah...I know, you hear it all the time...but man, you are one seriously awesome guitar player. Anytime people start talking guitar players, I always throw your name in the hat!
thank you!
Gota get my hands on a pt15! Holy god that amp sounds amazing.
Thanks! I love it
Killer Jams Pete ✔️
Very cool😉! Everything.
Killer playing 🤘 Loving it😻
Thanks!!
You melted my face with this intro. But thanks!
This thing is amazing
Absolutely Love that intro Tune you composed for this video. Might be my favorite.
Anyway , I have only my Randall MTS RM20. I have a custom Plexi/SL+ Module that really rocks. I'm loving the sounds of the Synergy Modules. And if what I've read is accurate , I can use a Synergy Module in my Randall. Is this info right , Pete ? I mean without the Synergy Preamp ? Hope everything is going great with you. 🎸🎸🎸
Sounds great. Can we hear that Laboga as well?
So in some ways this unit can turn your amp into a variation of a Line 6 DT 25, kinda. Fun demo, thanks.
The pt head on its own sounds the best
It's a deadly amp!!! These are fun to add some different tones, like pedals but more sophisticated ha! I can imagine if someone has an amp that's NOT that great, these could be cool to up the game.
wowwwwww yer such an amazing player!!!! and teacher =)
Thanks Austin!
Pete, love your signature Suhr amp,it sounds great and ur playing is incredible !
However,i play a dual rectifier, and I occasionally need to get that “Marshall” tone when playing live. It’s definitely not in the amp. Is there a pedal or any other method besides hauling another amp that can get me close? Your the man when it comes to gear,im hoping you have a suggestion for me.
Keep up the amazing work you do,you’ve helped inspire so many guitarists around the world!
Thanks-Boogieplex
That gear is "modulicious" 👍
Great demo, Pete! =)
I’m not sure who will use it. Is it for home studios that don’t have room for alternative amps?
Welcome back rack gear!
Superb demonstration / explanation. Just one question: I often use a JHS "Little Black Box" as a sort of Master volume for my amps (I suppose this question would also pertain to volume pedals as well). Normally the "Little Black Box" is the last in the loop chain just before hitting the return. Where would it go with the Synergy System? Last in the Synergy's loop or after the Synergy System in to the amps return? Thanks!
As good as these modules sound, the one thing that really stands out to me is how the Thornbucker Plus holds up under gain in that black Suhr.
Awesome playing and great demo of a cool product! Question if at all answerable: How would you say the VH4 module compares to the Friedman HBE module? I realize they are different amps, different voicing, both Marshall in flavor, but how would you characterize them?
I do this with the Helix, 4 cable method.
You run a Synergy preamp into your Helix? Was it difficult to set the levels appropriately?
This is an oldie, and I'm sure someone's asked already, but when does the PT15 module hit the market? ;)
I'm waiting for a shootout between the Friedman BE module and the Friedman BE-OD pedal.
Fantastic video as always. What model is that baritone guitar?
So do these things have preamp tubes? Or how do you model a fancy boutique tube preamp on that little board?
Killer killer intro 👍
I am curious how theses will sound through a Roland JC series amp, like the JC22?
I would assume they'd sound as good as a solid state power section amp could provide. And Rolands are great solid state amps.
I had an Adamp-1 run through another preamp to use the stereo fx loop. Then the power section was a Tube Works MosValve. I have used Marshall 9005 with that rig. Subtle differences. I also tried a Marshall dual Mono Block. On one track of my cd. Great sounds. The selling point for the Synergy Syn-1 is the simple addition of channels to any amp with a series fx loop. More examples of this with different amps might really get these units to sell more.
Awesome
I want one, but my issue is my Mesa Nomad's Fx loop is parallel, not series. My Musicman HD 150 doesn't have a fx loop. I am thinking of modifying the Musicman with a fx loop.
That's a common and cheap mod on your Mesa. All 50w Rectos have the same issue.
Hey Pete love your work, your a monster of a player, I think I’m a bit late to the party on the synergy stuff . Are these pre amp modules equipped with tubes ? Judging by there size I assume not ?
Yes all tube
Pete Thorn. Demo Demi-god.
They are almost the price of an amp! $500 for the empty syn1 and $400 a module so $900 to start, makes the Axe fx good value for money! PT15 IR already high price talking another $1700 on what you demo’d. I think too much. Maybe for the pro. A lot of second amps heads for same or less!
The price is what keeps me from diving into it as well. 1700 bucks for the twin module setup, with two modules and the footswitch. I will say if somebody had a studio, and wanted to get a bunch of amp sounds...this would be hard to beat.
BUT, think of it this way. You can use the Preamp with the tube amp you already have! You don’t have to have the syn head. So as long as you have the little chassis that the Preamp goes in, your good. So $700 for the first one, and $399 for any channel after that. Or buy used for about $600. I can give my Bogner a SLO-ish channel for $350, or a Diezel $350.
Two tube preamp channels for $400 is a great deal, after one already has a chassis. For a hobbyist, running a SYN-1 (which costs about as much as a Mexican Fender) into an audio interface beats running a tube amp at mouse fart volumes (and modelers do not bear comparison). Personally, I think the declining quality of power tubes is reason enough to get a Synergy rig.
Damn if i could only put them all in a rack and footswitch between them, i would buy them all.
The Syn-2 is a rack system version. The have the Syn-1, Syn-2, Syn -30, and Syn -50 heads. Also, the Syn 50/50 compact stereo rack power amplifier.
Hey Pete! Would you happen to know how the BBE Sonic Maximizer 882i would sound with a Synergy SYN-2 Pre amp dock & combo amp? I imagine that the Sonic Maximizer could shape up the sound of the pre-amp synergy modules very well for guitar. I just don't know if it would even work
