announcers would do good to know more than just what the season's best is - it is not too hard to know the NCAA record and to have seen that they beat it.

The first Washington runner has an interesting running style...long legs and a short stride. But it works!

Yes it does work, but sure looks funny..... 🙂

It’s a running style typically associated with East Asians, particularly Chinese and Japanese athletes. It’s actually quite efficient, though it’s usually accompanied by a very low hand position and this runner’s hands are held high. The athlete who I think best represents the effectiveness of this style is Xing Huina of China who won the 2004 Olympic 10,000m by out sprinting Ethiopians Ejagayehu Dibaba and Derartu Tulu (Tulu is the 1992 and 2000 gold medalist in this event). The truth is that over time athletes will tend to naturally find a stride that suits their own physiology and physical strengths. Knowledgeable and smart coaches know not to try to change this though you’ll find a lot of “internet experts”, who have little to no experience with this sport, yet are quick to try to give their uninformed advice on how these experienced and accomplished athletes need to “fix” their running style.
Note: I’m not saying anyone here suggested she change her style. I was just pointing out that people often do. Noticing it is common since it is rather unusual to see athletes from “western” countries running this way. There is a high school girl coming up who broke quite a few HS records in the last two years (maybe a freshman in college this year?) who also runs with this distinctive running style. She didn’t get a lot of attention, possibly because of COVID, but she should hit the college ranks soon.

For those who are wondering what former NCAA Women's DMR record by Oregon was...it was 10:48.77, so kudos to the Washington team for smashing it by whole 2 seconds......I only watched this vid with no sound so, perhaps the narrator mentioned what the old record was.......but as usual, the former record time is never written in the credit section sadly.....or in the title of the vid.....or by someone in the comments section other than me......I usually never listen to the narration since I thinks its just annoying.......and never understand why it can't be written anywhere for viewers to read......

Washington’s team is putting together an insane season thus far - men and women. Also a common Flotrack L with the commentary

It's taken a while because of Covid but the Powells are showing their well-established program they developed at Oregon. 13 NCAA championships, 250 All-Americans, etc. When they moved from Oregon to Washington, they brought some of the talented runners with them. Oregon got their new and stunning Haward Field built but it cost them a little. They will be rebuilding their team for a while. But I love watching the Powells work with their runners.
They are among the best ever!

Track watchers will you go to heaven? Ever lie, steal, used God's name as a curse word (O-M-G)? Still think your good? According to God's law, you're guilty. Wait, God loves you, he made a way out. God so loved the world that he gave his son (Jesus death on the cross) that whoever believes in him will not die but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Repent/believe in Jesus before it's too late.
