Live in northern KY about 10 minutes from downtown Cincinnati, and yes gotta have skyline..whenever your good and hungry it’s skyline time!!! Thank you for this recipe. Mmmmm making it. To your viewers it’s really delicious and please try it. Cincinnati classic.
I get the Cincinnati Chili spice packets from Kroger's and make my own. It's a lot easier to put together. The RUclipsr is right, you don't want to brown the hamburger first. To make the proper slurry, you need to seethe (boil) the ground beef and mash it as you go. I like to add my beans to the pot for tighter integration. I also like to use Brooks "Chili Hot Beans" instead of ordinary Kidney Beans. This adds just the right amount of heat to the chili. When I make a pot of Cincinnati Chili, I often like to boil some hot dogs so that I can make cheese Coneys too 😋 Yum yum!
I grew up in Kentucky…we used to visit our grandparents in Gary, Indiana. It was always a treat to stop in Cincinnati at Camp Washington’s Chili…Thanks for the great recipe.
I live in Cincy and love and eat and cook Skyline style... You are making it right.. of course because you are a great cook and teacher. P.S. I made my mom your enchiladas tonight for her birthday. (89) :)
Born & raised in Cincinnati. Love this chili!!! Cincinnati chili is NOT your average "bowl of red" style chili. This style of chili was first served at the Empress Chili Parlor over 100 years ago by two greek brothers. Thanks for sharing this great authentic recipe. Looking forward to serving it to my family. Love your video's. PS. In the midwest (Ohio, anyway) chili is often served over spaghetti. Thanks again
You've taken me back years when Cincinnati Style Chili was introduced to me. I can tell you this my dear friend, it wasn't nearly delicious as this recipe you share with us. A definite must try as Johnny has never tried it and I'm sure he'll love it. I do hope that y'all are enjoying your new home as I'm sure it'll be a perfect place to make wonderful new memories. May you my sweet Rachel and your Ron enjoy a wonderful and easy rest of your week. Lots and lots of love headed your way.
Thank you so much dear friend, I hope you and your Johnny give this recipec a try, I think you will enjoy it, it sure is delicious and very easy to prepare. It is hearty and unique in flavor my friend. Blessings to you, I always appreciate your sweet comments. ❤
I've never been to Cincinnati nor tried their chili but when I went to make it I went to my go to which is Chef John. He's never been there or tried it either, so I looked it up and found this recipe. I tried it and it is awesome. A total hit at our house. Thanks, Rachel.
OMGoodness! I grew up spending Summers with my Grandmother (mi Abuela) in Dayton, Ohio, so I've had Skyline all my life, ALL 5 ways many times, so I can appreciate this chili as much as yourself. I never knew, and didn't know why until today, to even think of making it at home! This recipe is like "food gold" to me, and I CAN NOT stress enough how much I appreciate you sharing it here!! I WILL BE making this at home now thanks to you Rachel! Thank you, thank you, thank you...did I say THANK YOU (MUCHAS GRACIAS)?! You will now be bringing back MANY wonderful childhood memories for me and my family, and my kids too who've never had it before as we live in Washinton state now, and for that I am TRULY grateful! Have a Blessed day...
Finally I have found my mother's recipe. Thank you so much. I am from Miamisburg Ohio just up the road from Cinci. She had it a church cookbook that I did not snag that had a two-page recipe in this was it. Can't wait to make it.
Hey Rachel and everyone- I watched this video late last night and this morning I checked in my kitchen on all the ingredients needed to make this chili. I have only had it once, and that years ago down in southern Indiana and I’ve never forgotten it how delicious it was. So watching this video inspired me. so I went to the store today and got all the ingredients needed and I’m gonna make it tomorrow and I cannot wait, I never heard of this chili before I had it down south and now Rachel you’ve inspired me to make it for myself here at home. I cannot wait. Thank you!
I am from Cincinnati and love Skyline. It is an acquired taste for some. The family who invented the chili are Greek so their is cinnamon in the chili. Cheese choney is good too.
It’s 1am here. Listening to 70s music and this popped into my feed. Now hubs n I are starving! I kept waiting for the cinnamon! I can just imagine the delicious smell in your kitchen. Well, I know what we’re having for supper today! Awesomeness.
I had this in Cincinnati some time ago. I thought it was good but this recipe was not anything I expected. Now I want to make the recipe. Thank you and as always, I enjoy watching your videos!! ❤❤
I finally made the Cincinnati Chili yesterday for dinner. Everyone in the family enjoyed it and ask for seconds! The spices that were added to this dish are spot-on. They made the chili unique tasting and yummy! I have never added dark unsweetened chocolate to chili before yesterday, but you are correct it was delicious! The chocolate add a rich depthness to the recipe. Thank you, Rachel, for another winning recipe!!
I was born in Cincinnati and, lived outside of Cincinnati and, we even knew a guy that was a owner of our neighborhood Empress yrs ago, they add unseeded red chili peppers and, they used cocoa powder and Skyline adds a 8oz chocolate bar to their typical serving size per batch! I had a family friend that worked there and told us this! Most people tend to believe there’s no chocolate in Cincinnati Style Chili but, that’s what gives it’s unique taste! Also, Skyline uses cinnamon! Each chain has it’s own recipe and, each recipe in the cookbook s are different! I got a recipe yrs ago out of a microwave cookbook that used to come along with your microwave when you would purchase one and in that cookbook is a recipe for homemade skyline, it does call for chocolate and, it calls for pumpkin pie spice, chili powder, it does not call for cloves or allspice. It calls for 1/3 cup of Worcestershire sauce, 1/2c. of beef broth, I can’t handle the strong beef flavor so, I use chicken broth and, it calls for a 1Tbs of white vinegar!
Grew up on Cincy chili.. My Mom was from Cincy. Plus I lived there from 1980-85. Great recipe for sure.... Good for a Coney Island hotdog. Goetta is my next fave food from there. Gliers! Thanks for sharing...😊
Going to make this! Lived in Lexington, Ky for 25 yrs and our favorite Cincinnati chili was Gold Star Chili. Very similar and our favorite. Husband always got the 5 way and I got the hot dogs. Those dogs were so small, but great..that chili, their cheese and buns were the best👍
I lived in Pennsylvania for a while, around the Pittsburgh area. A very popular dish up there was “Chili Fries”. It was a big plate of French fries smothered in some of that nontraditional chili and onions and cheese. It was great! And when I was a kid, growing up in The South, Mama would stretch left over chili into a meal that would feed the whole brood by serving it over macaroni……called it “chili Mac” and we kids loved it!
I grew up in Kentucky and we always thought we were making Cincinnati chili. But we never boiled our ground beef. Our ingredients matched. It was delicious just as yours looks yummy!😊
Lol!! I'm so happy you enjoy my channel, I'm sure you are beautiful anyway my friend I am so grateful for your kind donation, blessings and hugs to you.❤️
I made this Cincinnati Style Chili today following your recipe exactly. It was easy to make. Everyone agreed that it was delicious and it will be put in the rotation for meals at our house. Thank you for sharing this recipe. P.S. We live in California and I make a hot chili that we love but this one is totally different and just as good!
Rachel, thank you for another wonderful recipe. I've lived my entire 73 years in the Greater Cincinnati area and grew up eating Cincinnati Chili. Cincinnati Chili is also known as Greek Style Chili, it's also known as Cinnamon Based Chili. I have collected and cooked a number of Cincinnati Chili Recipes and your's is among the best. I cooked it tonight and planned on serving it for tomorrow night's dinner. It smelled so good cooking I had it for tonight's dinner! Cincinnati style chili also goes great with hot dogs, place hot dog in bun, cover with chili, top with mustard, onions and cheese which is called a "cheese coney." Regard; Bill in Northern Kentucky
Can’t wait to try this recipe! I made your carne guisada and spanish rice on Sunday, was a great hit with the family. Thank you for sharing your recipes with us!
Hi Rachel! Looks yummy! I live in the suburbs of Cincinnati and have been here all my life! Nothing like a 3 or 4 way or some coneys! cinnamon is the key! Love Skyline and so does our family!
WoW Rach..looks delicious....alot of spices you added...I don't think I have ever seen you add that many spices all at once into a dish...sure will try this chili...with spaghetti.....wonderful presentation...thank you
Hello Rachel 👋 I love your new kitchen! I made your Carne con chili Colorado for my Peter's pot luck! It was a hit. All the chili and tortillas were gone. Thank you and many blessings to you and your Ron ❤️ ❤
At what point does recipe preparation become so smooth and perfect as Rachel. The kitchen is always remains perfect. Each step by step is executed with ease. By the end of my preparation, there isn't a bowl left in the cabinet! The counter tops have bits and pieces of chopped veggie all over the place! I am scrambling around to finish things up. Rachel is so calm and on point throughout the cooking process. Maybe someday Miss Rachel! Fantastic chili recipe!
Thank you dear Rachel for another wonderful recipe. Your delicious recipe, gorgeous kitchen, and your creative cooking skills are so awesome. How blessed we are to be able to watch and learn from you. Love, Sherry 🥰🙏💞🏡🥣
We made this recipe last night and it was FANTASTIC. Even went the extra mile and got the oyster crackers and York Peppermint Patties for dessert. I've always been curious to try Skyline Chili but no places in Upstate NY have it, so I made it myself and it was totally worth it. Huge recommend!
Oh man! This one is really out of this world! I was just thinking what special dinner I should make this weekend and you came to my rescue! Gracias mi hermosa amiga! As always you never disappoint! Thank you very much! God bless you and your wonderful husband Ron! Sending you a great big hug my friend!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much. My wife and I grew up with it, but now live a couple hours away from the closest skyline. Sooo I will be trying this myself this weekend. Wish me luck. 😊
Bengals fan from California here and I’ve wanted this for a long time but obviously getting this homemade is much easier and less expensive than traveling but I do plan to visit Cincy someday. I finally got around to making it following your recipe and it turned out amazing. Thank you for this video!!
I grew up in Springfield, Ohio. My Grandparents on both sides lived in Cincinnati. Every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas, my parents would load us up in the car and we would head to our Grandparents house. We would always stop on the way and pick up either Cincinnati chili or White Castles. The chili was always my favorite! There are so many different Cincinnati chili restaurants in Cincinnati. There’s Skyline, Gold Star, Emperess, Camp Washington, etc. My favorite was always Skyline! My Dad used to always make it from scratch like you did and I’ve made it myself. It is delicious and always reminds mope of my childhood!!!❤❤❤
Oh my goodness, my mouth is watering. I learn something new every time I watch your videos. I’ve never heard of putting chocolate in chili. That’s so interesting. You’re a wonderful teacher. You explain things is such great detail, STEP BY STEP is exactly what you do. God bless you and you Ron.
That chili sounds amazing - with everything! Spaghetti, chili, kidney beans, raw onions & cheddar cheese. Can’t wait to make it. Especially with those seasonings. 😊
9:45 pm. I have never had the pleasure of trying this delicous dish but like all your wonderful recipes I'm sure it'll be a hit. I've tried so many of your dishes and I look forward to making this recipe. Thank you Rachel for sharing your love of cooking. We love you ❤
Former Cincinnatian here. I love all kinds of chili - no need to argue which is the best, it's all good! Wanted to suggest to you and the folks to try the spice mix you have here, or a pre-packaged "Cincinnati" chili mix and add it to Texas style chili also - the melding of the two flavors/styles is simple amazing as a variant to either one. Not something I do every time, but a nice treat to have the taste of both. Season to taste, of course. I don't use a whole packet of the Cincinnati Chili seasoning, just about a quarter of one for a large pot of chili.
Ohioan here living a little east of Cincinnati. I have Skyline about once a week.a must! Your recipe looks delicious and I’ll definitely be giving it a try. My favorite is a 4 Way..spaghetti, chili, beans, and of course cheese..lots of cheese. Skyline has the best cheese, it’s finely grated, mild and so so good. Then top this with Skyline hot sauce. Having this today after watching your video. Thanks for sharing this great recipe!
What a lovely lady. Thanks for sharing! Looks wonderful!! My daughter lived in Connersville Indiana for a few mths and learned to make this kindve chili. It sounds crazy but I think I like it best this way! She put kidney beans in it. And made cornbread with honey and cinnamon to go with it. Just delicious!!
I'm in the northwest and only heard about Cincinnati Chili through the internet. So far, I have used seasoning packets bought online and we LOVE it but I want to make it from scratch now that I kinda know how it's suppose to taste. Your recipe sounds great, thank you!
I've wondered how to make Cincinnati style chili. I knew it had cinnamon in it, but now I understand how it is different from traditional chili. Excellent! Sounds good for another great dish to make during the fall and winter months. Thank you for showing us how to make it. Looks delicious.♥️
Oh Rachel, you haveyet again given us a wonderful recipe that will be a big hit with the family. Thanks so much for sharing. Love you and your channel.💕💕
My daughter lives in Youngstown Ohio and I meet her mother in Columbus to pick her up and take her back when she gets to come stay with me in Kentucky. Skyline is always a stop made either on the way up there or on the way back to Kentucky. Absolutely love cincy style chili besides the raw onions, they're just to overpowering for me. But I love how you included cooked onions. Looks delicious ❤
I was introduced to Cincinnati Chili by my husband's family, who lived for generations in the "Queen City". I had never been a chili fan, but this stuff is so delicious. The family recipe does not include all your ingredients (no chocolate!) but now I am intrigued! I might have to go rogue and make Rachel's Skyline version! Thanks for sharing this! I really love watching your videos, Rachel. ♥Have a great weekend!!
This is delicious! I am making a pot of this for an Italian exchange student that is staying with my daughter's family this school year. This is an Ohio classic recipe.
Rachel, I have heard so much about this chili but I have never made it. It sounds so delicious. I too would love it the "5" way. Thank you so much for the delicious recipe and I can'r wait to make this one..... God Bless you...
I just love love love everything about you and your way of teaching step by step all your amazing recipes! I watch you every day my new found friend! Thank you for giving us all something fun and delicious to look forward to watching 😊🌷
Thank you Rachel. Who taught you about cooking? Your dishes have such great flavor. Also you are a great teacher for each aspect of the recipe. I enjoy your channel and array of aprons. Blessings to you.
I love Cincinnati Chili. I also have a wonderful recipe. I'll have to compare it with yours to see if there is anything I might add. Thanks. I love your videos.
hi, thank you for the recipe. im from philippines. my husband requested this recipe, and im made good. there happy watching football while there eating what i make 😍🙏😊😘
I lived in Cincinnati for 42 years before we moved to Florida. Skyline is sooooooo good! You did a great job! Thankfully we can buy it buy here in Florida. We miss eating it in the restaurant. The skyline restaurants aren’t the same here.
Hello Rachel and Ron this recipe looks delicious Thank You for sharing the recipe. Have a good day from Wendy Bertie a viewer in Toronto Ontario Canada
The three way only has spaghetti noodles, chili and cheese. Four way has either onions or beans and cheese, five way has everything. Enjoy your videos.
I was going to read your beads over the 3-way 4-way 5 way descriptions. BUT... You corrected it in the comments. I was looking for a good recipe for Cincinnati Chili and I think yours is it. Thanks so much! BTW... Gold Star fan here LOL.
Thank you so much, I appreciate your comment my friend, we love it too.❤👍
Classic chili... True.
Like Gliers Goetta. My fave.

Being from central Louisiana, I can say that I’ve never seen a recipe using these interestingly combined ingredients! Would love to try!
I finally made the Cincinnati Chili yesterday for dinner. Everyone in the family enjoyed it and ask for seconds! The spices that were added to this dish are spot-on. So unique. In Milwaukee, we used to have George Web hamburgers and chili. They always put a little broken spaghetti noodles in their chili too.
Grew up on Cincy chili.. My Mom was from Cincy. Plus I lived there from 1980-85.
Great recipe for sure....
Good for a Coney Island hotdog.
Goetta is my next fave food from there. Gliers!

Gold Star baby!
Gold star was so good I gotta grab some next time I go back to my home town
I lived in Pennsylvania for a while, around the Pittsburgh area. A very popular dish up there was “Chili Fries”. Always love Cincinnati chili! I grew up in Ohio and this is always a treat . Taste like the original!
It is delicious, no doubt my friend. Thank you so much. ❤

I don't use a whole packet of the Cincinnati Chili seasoning, just about a quarter of one for a large pot of chili.
This was very interesting. i never knew what Cincinnati Chili was before I watched this video. Looks delicious.
Looks delicious can't wait to make it & try it it will be a different change from my chilli. Thanks for sharing
Enjoy my friend, it is absolutely delicious. Thank you so much. ❤
My mother used to make this for camping or bonfires we would have. Its great, but the recipe got lost. Thanks for your version! Im an ohioan.🤗
Hi Rachel, that looks amazing. Love your videos and the taste test. It makes me want to try this one. Thanks for sharing. ❤
We are from southern Virginia by the way!!
Cool recipe! Thanks for sharing! God bless your new home!

Omg this look so delicious!
We live near Cincinnati and love Skyline! I look forward to making this recipe!
Love skyline chili, I'm going to give it a try. Thank you!

I lived in Cincinnati for 42 years before we moved to Florida. Skyline is sooooooo good! You did a great job! Thankfully we can buy it buy here in Florida. We miss eating it in the restaurant. The skyline restaurants aren’t the same here.

The three way only has spaghetti noodles, chili and cheese. Four way has either onions or beans and cheese, five way has everything. Enjoy your videos.
KY does the Four way and Texas way.

I was going to read your beads over the 3-way 4-way 5 way descriptions. BUT... You corrected it in the comments. I was looking for a good recipe for Cincinnati Chili and I think yours is it. Thanks so much! BTW... Gold Star fan here LOL.
