I lived in Cincinnati from 2010-2013. I tried Gold Star chili shortly after moving there and didn’t think too much of the Cincinnati style chili. When I put my 2 week notice in at my job to move back out west where I’m from, I decided I had to try Skyline Chili before I left. I got a 5-way for lunch that day and was amazed how good it was! I was so upset with myself knowing this would be the only time I eat this delicious meal for who knows how long, when I had the previous 3 years to eat as much as I wanted.

I don't know where you live now but I know for a fact they sell it in the Publix and Harris Teeter stores in North and South Carolina. Fortunately for us here in Tulsa, Oklahoma, there was a Greek immigrant who originally moved to Cincinnati in the early 1900s. He saw the Greek-style chili restaurant's popularity in Cincinnati, and he decided to take the concept to Tulsa. He founded Coney I-Lander, which has been around Tulsa since the 1920s and has expanded to 10 restaurants across the metro. Thank god, because Cincinnati chili is one of my favorite foods!

Chili Johns is the best hands down. Its real texas chili with lots of meat. Cincy is more like a sauce

It's easy to understand why there are so many chili parlors in Cincinnati. They are still searching a recipe that tastes good. My advice? Stop trying and just go up to Detroit to gat a good tasty bowl. No need to thank me. Elsewhere you will read my unbiased opinion on which college football team is better, Michigan or osu.

Kevin, when you gave your opinion/quick interview about Skyline you should have introduced your wife, friend, nice lady, etc... obviously a great woman as my wife would have tore my butt for not introducing her even if it was briefly, lol, my wife is a great woman also my friend, but I would have heard about that, lol

That's Chili "SAUCE". It's only good when poured over other food. Real Chili is "Chili Con Carne". A real bowl of Chili is much thicker and is a meal all by itself. And YES I agree... Texas Chili sucks. I was a judge in a Texas Chili contest. It was all WAYYYY too thin and WAYYY too salty. Wendys Chili is much closer to the real thing , but I've had better.

I took my wife to camp the other day & told her it was the best cinti chili, not impressed since johnny is not working, chili had no spice flavor & tasted like ground beef( his bull meat) in water, has chunks of ground beef the size of small meat balls instead of all fine ground, portion was large & wanted to talk to Marie & see how he was feeling & she was gone at 3:45 already, went to the men's room & vulgar graffiti written every where no hand towels & employee asked me if I would get some up front, lady came out of women's restroom & said it needed attention & was nasty, 8 employees up front not working just gossiping with vulgar talk, floors needed swept & mopped, Johnny would have thrown an absolute fit if he walked in & saw this & would have fired everyone, place has really went down hill, I retired from railroad & have eaten there regularly since in the old brick building location & used to talk with johnny all the time

I’m sorry but canned or packaged skyline tastes like pure liquid cumin and cinnamon......way too much.....don’t misunderstand me. I am a Cincinnati chili fanatic, Been eating a family recipe of it my whole life. But skylines store brand is just not very good.
