Is one of the final stages of addiction to Skyline, “Watching videos about Skyline on RUclips because you don’t live within driving distance of anyplace you can get Skyline (not even a grocery store that carries the canned or frozen stuff), and yet you still need your Skyline fix”? Asking for a friend.

I’m watching this while eating skyline (pouches from Amazon) chili spaghetti and I’ve never set foot in Ohio. Skyline chili is my favorite 😋

You know, I watched this with a lot of interest, as my experience was similar, but had a key difference. I came to Cincy for college; had no clue what was up with all the chili places - walked into a Goldstar thinking "I like chili" and being confused by the menu, and disgusted at the meal. I was so put off that I didn't touch the stuff for a year, but one night got absolutely hammered, and one of my friends came back with a box of cheese coneys. I was just stupid drunk and wanted something in my belly. Tasting that cheese coney - it was like the skies parted and I was bathed in a beam of light. "Do you SEE THE LIGHT?!?!" YES!!! I understand now!!

Oh, I forgot to say that although Skyline dip was not MY gateway to full blown addiction, I think your point is fascinating. Looking back, in college we didn't really have the kind of party where you'd find Skyline dip. In fact, although I have had it many times in my adult life, I can't remember the first time I saw it, but almost certainly after college. I live in NC now and have to make do with the cans. I can still feel the steam hitting my face walking in to the Ludlow Skyline on a cold night, that aroma!! Oh, I miss it.

Having lived in Middletown Ohio from 1990 until my husband passing in January 2020 this made me homesick for some Cincinatti style chili. So i got a recipe for Skyline Chili that im going to make for some friends that never heard of it and doing the dip for a party i will be attending in June . I also miss Donatos Pizza one of the best pizzas around ! Being a born and bred Texas girl i have to say i love both the Cincinatti style chili and of course my bowl of good ole Texas Red (no beans either) Both can make you go look for a open cafe and get you a plate/ bowl of one drpending on city you live in sit down and LOOK OUT BELLY! 💘

Thanks for your video of chili obsession. Dare I ask if there are any chili parlors you prefer over Skyline? I've seen several blogs of chili-heads doing a grand tour of chili parlors in the Cincinnati area -- and Skyline isn't in the top five of most of their results. At some point I hope to do a mini chili parlor tour including Price Hill, Chili Time, Camp Washington, Pleasant Ridge and Blue Ash -- as I'm fortunate enough to have a Skyline fairly nearby and have tried Gold Star and Dixie. I just wish Skyline's coneys were made with grilled Hebrew National hot dogs in a grilled New England split top (lobster roll) bun.

My first exposure to skyline was when I was a little kid and we would take trips to Kings Island. There was something so novel about those tiny hot dogs. I think I would eat six of them at a time. I’ve been a fan ever since.
I would like to try some of the lesser known chili parlors in Cincy some day.

Part of Step 4 can be peer pressure and wanting to be a part of the rest of your lunch group, and they want Skyline. Trust me, been there done that and your video made me want some badly!!! Normal order: small 3 way and one or two cheese coneys depending on level of hunger. Since I have been retired, I also even occasionally go thru the drive thru and get three cheese coneys with everything, lite onions, with crackers, and bring them home to eat

Now, there is a secret ingredient that gives it an extra sweetness. Some say cinnamon, while thers say nutmeg. For me personally, I think it's nutmeg. Because cinnamon isn't sweet by itself unless mixed with sugar (Just ask people who did the cinnamon challenge on a dare.), while nutmeg actually is, and I could see it going well with chili.

Do, your research, seriously, there’s a bit of chopped onion in the chili, 2 tablespoons and, there’s a Tbs of White Vinegar and, for so, many single servings between 4 to 5 on average, there’s a 8oz Hershey’s Chocolate 🍫 Bar, other chili places use cocoa powder! There’s also beef broth in in it with Worcestershire Sauce, I use chicken broth instead it really doesn’t alter the taste!
