It’s quite possible that they’ll add more base game ones with the update that they do before launching the pack, that way everyone has more options either way! Kind of like what they do for some other packs/base game updates
A folding chess board would be great! I hate placing the tables in my builds but if it was portable I’d use it so much more often. Sims could play at any table with enough space.
It would have been the perfect pack to add a portal chess board in. Then our teens could just keep it in their inventory and take it out wherever during break and after school but oh well 🙃

I know alot of people have their own little pet peeves when it comes to the sims but mine is not talked about ever but is solved in this pack. The size of the LAMPS! All the lamps we have are huge and dont tuck in next to a bed very well or it takes the whole end table with not room for clutter. That Lamp is the perfect size! And 10 Beds!!!!
Totally agree. I think this is their do-over for a lot of things they missed the mark on in University. I wish they would now do a University refresh. Same vibe as HS Years would be amazing, but a bit more mature.

The build items are pretty cool, but I don't use them often, same with most of the CAS items. I feel like I've wasted money on buying it, honestly. I have to say I'm pretty tickled to see the development of James, the king of monochromatic builds, get so hyped about colors and patterns. Love it! It's definitely so nice now to have all the options of neutrals, blacks and whites, and fun colors/patterns and pastels. It really just opened up building so much. I really can't wait to see what you'll do!
Part of the problem with prior items is they often had too few colors or not very good ones (so that the only good colors tended to be the ones it was harder to mess up, like blue for example) or the textures were iffy. I'm pretty open-minded about what colors I like, but I tend to be pickier based on the level of saturation and combination, so I'd still get frustrated while building. It was also harder to match most items across packs, especially when it came to wood tones. I think that's why a lot of players kinda fall into one color rut or were avoiding most colors up until the past two years at least, when more new items had cross-compatibility and better options. lol But it could also be current trends. People might be growing sick of the recently popular monochrome trend, James included, and now they'll be branching out again. Not saying it's only because of the trend but too much of a good thing and you start wanting some variety.
This pack actually makes me WANT to play the game again. All of the other packs have been cool and whatnot but this just really gets me excited to re-immerse myself in the Sims
This pack is giving us all 90's/00's kids LIFE, I'm literally obsessed with it and the base game update. There is sooo much new B&B items and CAS looks amazing too, plus the stream was really fun to watch. I loved seeing the gurus have so much fun with it and being so proud of this pack. The gameplay is amazing too, I just don't get why some people complain that the classes should be more interactive. We're all only here for the social aspect and the school activities, I couldn't really care less about actual classes :D Also, hearing James say "big thick chunky boy" made me nearly fall off my chair laughing, can someone please make it like a ringtone or something :D

Oh no they’re still trying to rob us but with this pack I feel like less is being stolen from me this time. There’s a lot of stuff here and most of it is stuff I will definitely use plus all the CAS and if the gameplay holds up nicely then I may feel like they didn’t rob and insult us but instead just asked for a few pounds more than it’s worth.
Wow I am so blown away by the quality of the items in this pack and I’m not even halfway through the video. So much intricacy and detail put into every single piece, I am thoroughly impressed omg
It's so cool that they went with basically fully customizable bedrooms bc I know for a lot of teens their bedrooms are like their oasis, and where they put a lot of their personality (myself w fam being very thrifty and broke-ish when we were younger definitely did not really have that option, but I still think its super cool for your sims and for teens today!)
Second set of beds looks like it's meant to be Rattan/Wickerwork, maybe a little bit of Art Nouveau inspiration in it and in other related items, very pretty!
the fun rug colour swatches has been slowly increasing over time. There was some amount of it in City Living with the chalk floor drawings in the rug category. The Parenthood rugs don't change shape but they have a lot of pattern variation you wouldn't expect from the first swatch.
The sims team really outdid themselves with this pack from what I’ve seen so far. I’m so excited to play with it and use all the CAS and Build and Buy items.
Thank you for telling us about the F5 trick to snap to grid’s smaller square areas. I’ll definitely be using that and telling my casual simmer friends about it to make arranging furniture soooo much easier.
I am not a huge builder in Sims, but even I am excited for this build and buy! There's so much pretty and useful items! A bit sceptical to the rounded walls tho, ngl, but no one will force me to use them, so I don't mind them being in game. Also love the Sullivan Monster Inc chair.
Just out of curiosity, what are your skepticisms about rounded walls? Not criticizing you or anything, it’s just that it’s an interesting take because afaik people have been clamoring for round walls for years.
@@Iluvpie6 I don't know, I have a feeling nothing will really fit in those spaces, and they'll end up looking kind of empty, you know? I don't entirely trust the functionality of them, I suppose. Like even diagonal builds can cause troubles when trying to furnish, so rounded walls just feel like more trouble, you know? That being said, I am not in some kind of anti rounded wall cult lmao.
Sometimes I forget that there are many things that are innately "American", its just normal to see certain things and assume its the standard everywhere. The trash can is cute, I would say it's a bit of a dated type of can by today's standards (the basegame plastic rollers are quite more common I would say), but I am glad that James finds it cool!
I haven't been truly impressed by the Sims team in a long while but damn, they really went all out for this one. The build buy items are absolutely fantastic!
Interior Designer here to give you some insight to this collection, also I'm 45 so I've lived through these styles. This mixed collection is a retro mish-mash of styles from the 80's and 90's that kids are crazy about today but I've spent a lifetime running away from. Yes, I feel very old that it's come back around to this but young folks are giving it a fresh spin so that's fun. From left to right (re: beds): 1. brass bed in an Art Deco style from early 80's, most of these brass beds were not in a deco style- this a mix of components from different time periods even though Art Deco did resurge in popularity in the 80's. 2. Rattan Bedroom Suite. 80's again but with the modern twist of bohemian features such as dreamcatchers and 70's macrame'. This is Rattan Furniture but if you need to give it a descriptor, I would say "bohemian" in this case as opposed to "tropical" from the 80's. 3. Queen Anne Style Bed: Very popular in the 90's as was having most of house be a collection of antiques or made to look like antiques. 4. Laminate Water Bed, Baby; this 80's bed was almost always a water bed until the 90's when people realized how horrible water beds were for your back (and woo hoo btw) but they loved the storage features of the bed (shelving unit for a headboard and drawers underneath mattress. These were all very ugly in my day and look best when painted or better yet, on the curb. 5. 80's Art Deco bed suite that was originally always in a high, ultra shiny off white or black laminate with shiny gold trim. This is much more refined but still gives me flashbacks There you go. This pack looks great and very excited to see what you do with it!
I feel you 100%! So much of the (especially gold trimmed stuff) furniture was extremely tacky and just ugly in the 80's lol. Most of the stuff in the pack has an updated twist or take that borrows retro vibes without exact replicas as you said. Never been an Art Deco fan either, but I think a lot of the items are cute/fun and surprisingly versatile considering Art Deco and Art Nuvo(spelling??) tend to be very stylized. Very pleasantly surprised with the whole pack 🙂
I’m really impressed by all the stuff, but for a high school, they forgot to add a linoleum floor 😂 I had that ugly blue floor in labs, the basement and some random rooms in my middle school and high school. Didn’t have a cafeteria but I once read a book and the character described herself walking on this type of floor in there.
I love that the Sims team are really paying attention to the design of the build & buy items. I am more of a builder and I am really impressed and gotten inspired to use these items for an art deco build for sure! 😊
Drinking game idea: do a shot every time James says "art deco" 😂😂 In other hand, I'm so excited for this expansion, I don't know I feel like the Sims team has put a lot of love and care in the last few packs/kits (except for my wedding stories ofc)
The more I see of this pack, the more excited I am. I went to an American High school built during the peak of Art Deco, so I am very excited to build with this stuff to recreate my high school.

33:43 peep that jacket with the Decor to the Max wallpaper print. That's a cute idea by the artists and a good way to create cohesion across packs/world-building while saving time on making the asset. I imagine having a sim in the freelance artist career making the design and then an interior designer from Dream Home Decorator is inspired to make it a wallpaper and then a Style Influencer turned it into a jacket and you have a teen who's into fashion and social media who's super into those artists gets a sponsorship from the brand. ^_^
Great build/buy items, the Sims team has really impressed on werewolves and now high school. Looking forward to going through them myself. Love the swatches!
A lot of these furniture pieces remind me of items in Sims 2 packs. Love the semi old school vibe. Lots of this furniture style was popular (at least among my family) in the late 90s and early-mid 2000s
Just came from Deli's CAS Overview which had me convinced I needed this ep, now I am even more excited! An incredible amount of items and swatches with lots of variety to create personalized spaces. So happy and excited!
I’ve barely watched through half of this BUT I can honestly say that this expansion pack is going to be worth every penny! The detail is phenomenal and I’m so exited to get this in my game!!!
I googled "blow up chair with frame" and it's definitely a thing apparantly! The results look almost exactly like this one. So cool. I had a velvety pink/purple Bratz blow up chair as a kid, loved it so much haha
They’ve been hiding rug swatches since at least City Living. There’s a long rug that has a piano type style on it which hides one of flower petals or something.
I don't think I've ever been so excited for a new pack. I do want to thank you for your videos covering everything. The furniture that you call "generic" I believe would be considered mission style (maybe). And your comments on reading the descriptions is spot on. Some of those descriptions are hilarious.
Noticed the aesthetic for this pack is curves and I'm here for it, I love the rounded desks and chairs. THEN CURVED WALLS OMG. Instead of the 3 hours it takes me to do my builds we've just added 3 more hours and I love it, I have sooooooo many ideas!

Furniture made of bamboo is generally referred to as Rattan, sometimes just Bamboo furniture. We have a Sasquatch costume in the game. The bigger crafting caddie is not a blueprint paper. It's a cutting mat that can't be cut so you can cut other things on it. Thanks James, very thorough review.
That blowup chair brings me back to the blowup chair and table I had in my room when I was in the 7th grade. I friggin loved it, it made me feel so grown up. Perfect for a teenager.
I am getting boho, suburban, kind of rural town vibes. I am liking the sort of random styles and natural vibes. I imagine many of these items would be at home on the set of Stranger Things". You mentioned a thrift store, and that makes sense, because I am seeing so many styles in here, that if you wanted them today, you may have to hit a thrift store, or garage sales etc. I like it, its like we have the 50s up to 80s in here.
I can't wait to get my hands on this pack!!! I'm going to go on yet another building frenzy. I'm going to redecorate Penny's apartment... again. I'm going to make ALL the Art Deco and Art Nouveau builds of my dreams because CURVED WALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like... seriously. Curved Freaking Walls! Also, I'm going to build an art deco movie theater. No one can stop me. It HAS to happen. We've got all the perfect lights now AND the seating thanks to Werewolves... ZOINKS.
This makes me wonder if the Décor to the Max kit was basically the art déco furniture that didn't get included in this pack. But I love the color palette, it matches the more pastel/muted colors a ton of famous CC creators use.
Wow this is by far the best build buy in a pack I’ve seen for years or ever! Cant wait to get it! If I was nit picking it would be great to have a matching counter to the bubble tea station and cafeteria but it still looks so good!
This is now actually a pack I'm EXCITED for! The fact that they're finally making similar swatches for different items--that's huge. I no longer have to struggle to make my things match!
While watching all the different reactions to the trailer from different youtubers, no-one mentioned the RGB desk - you're the first that I've seen to notice it! (It was one of the things that I thought people would geek out over)
I like the beds a lot. I see what James is saying - there's a color palette and the colors and styles all work together without being like "oh that's a HIGH SCHOOL PACK house" the way you get if you build using Realm of Magic or something. I feel like you could easily use these with just base game or base game and 2 or 3 other packs and it would work really well. Like, you can see on one of the couches they used a print from Movie Hangout. The BB in this pack and the BB in Werewolves really seem to tie together some loose ends and bridge pack styles
after watching this i got so many gameplay ideas, like moving a poor family into that shack in the town (making it look more run-down beforehand, of course, because the initial build is too nice), maybe something like eddie's family from stranger things, just an elderly uncle and his somewhat of a misfit nephew another thing i thought of was building a few very small trailer homes in the park lot, obviously it would technically all be one household but with a few different families, and that also opens up so many opportunities for a cool teen gameplay (maybe a rivalry of two male teen outcasts who eventually go on to become best friends after hating one another's guts and fighting constantly) in this run-down trailer park in the middle of the woods, especially paired with the parenthood & maybe some other packs (btw i think for the trailers the window with a big art deco frame might look really really cool) generally i feel like the gameplay inspiration you get from the world and the build/buy items is a really good indicator of whether the sims teams has succeeded or not in the creation of the world & the items. and in this case i think they have

Ok I admit I was a little disappointed that the track isn't usable to run the mile on or what not and the bleachers you could chill and sit at BUT the build and buy OKAY SIMS way to step it up!! Its is amazing and worth the money to me! I just love the items! I mean sooo many beds and desks and the rugs some of them are stunning and OMG THE LIGHT UP DESK what!? VERY NICE! Thanks, James for showing us! I cant wait to get it!
I wasn't really interested in the pack, but now that you showed the build/buy I need it. I also noticed a couple of swatches that fit perfectly to items from movie hang out and paranormal which made me really happy.
I dig how the Sims team thinks about ALL of their packs thus far when they create content for new ones. For example, the Art Deco stuff in this pack can go beautifully with the Maximalist kit. The Movie Hangout /Island Living items can go well with the Bohemian things from this. Parent Hood goes well with the more classic furniture and things from Cats and Dogs. I could also see some of these traditional items crossing over with the Paranormal Stuff pack. They have set styles they pull from, and this is why you don't see anything new and crazy different. They want everything to work together ultimately. I love it. The things from Snowy Escape /City Living can cross over for the Kawaii/Anime themed elements as well. I'm sure they have boards with pins linking all of these elements together. I'm just seeing this as we get deeper into packs. There are many other packs that style wise mix together. As a builder who is familiar with the catalog, I'm sure you see all of these connections. I'm just rambling. Thanks for the overview James!

2. Rattan Bedroom Suite. 80's again but with the modern twist of bohemian features such as dreamcatchers and 70's macrame'. This is Rattan Furniture but if you need to give it a descriptor, I would say "bohemian" in this case as opposed to "tropical" from the 80's.
3. Queen Anne Style Bed: Very popular in the 90's as was having most of house be a collection of antiques or made to look like antiques.
4. Laminate Water Bed, Baby; this 80's bed was almost always a water bed until the 90's when people realized how horrible water beds were for your back (and woo hoo btw) but they loved the storage features of the bed (shelving unit for a headboard and drawers underneath mattress. These were all very ugly in my day and look best when painted or better yet, on the curb.
5. 80's Art Deco bed suite that was originally always in a high, ultra shiny off white or black laminate with shiny gold trim. This is much more refined but still gives me flashbacks

I feel you 100%! So much of the (especially gold trimmed stuff) furniture was extremely tacky and just ugly in the 80's lol. Most of the stuff in the pack has an updated twist or take that borrows retro vibes without exact replicas as you said. Never been an Art Deco fan either, but I think a lot of the items are cute/fun and surprisingly versatile considering Art Deco and Art Nuvo(spelling??) tend to be very stylized. Very pleasantly surprised with the whole pack 🙂
I love how the wild couch swatch points out that the couch arms match the gaming console we already have.
I’m really impressed by all the stuff, but for a high school, they forgot to add a linoleum floor 😂
I had that ugly blue floor in labs, the basement and some random rooms in my middle school and high school. Didn’t have a cafeteria but I once read a book and the character described herself walking on this type of floor in there.
I love that the Sims team are really paying attention to the design of the build & buy items. I am more of a builder and I am really impressed and gotten inspired to use these items for an art deco build for sure! 😊
I would get this pack just for the build/buy. All this stuff is so unique and colorful.

The more I see of this pack, the more excited I am. I went to an American High school built during the peak of Art Deco, so I am very excited to build with this stuff to recreate my high school.

33:43 peep that jacket with the Decor to the Max wallpaper print. That's a cute idea by the artists and a good way to create cohesion across packs/world-building while saving time on making the asset.
I imagine having a sim in the freelance artist career making the design and then an interior designer from Dream Home Decorator is inspired to make it a wallpaper and then a Style Influencer turned it into a jacket and you have a teen who's into fashion and social media who's super into those artists gets a sponsorship from the brand. ^_^
I cannot wait to make a teachers room to fit my teacher sim!! She’s going to have such a cozy room, I love this pack!!

I love the vintage and more quirky elements. These items can be used for so many things
i can see it now: a grandma and her wife who were hippies in their youth now relaxing in retirement in their refurbished Victorian style home.
A lot of these furniture pieces remind me of items in Sims 2 packs. Love the semi old school vibe. Lots of this furniture style was popular (at least among my family) in the late 90s and early-mid 2000s

Just came from Deli's CAS Overview which had me convinced I needed this ep, now I am even more excited! An incredible amount of items and swatches with lots of variety to create personalized spaces. So happy and excited!

I googled "blow up chair with frame" and it's definitely a thing apparantly! The results look almost exactly like this one. So cool. I had a velvety pink/purple Bratz blow up chair as a kid, loved it so much haha

They’ve been hiding rug swatches since at least City Living. There’s a long rug that has a piano type style on it which hides one of flower petals or something.
I love that they don't have just one gamer room set, you could actually totally make multiple distinct gamer rooms

Furniture made of bamboo is generally referred to as Rattan, sometimes just Bamboo furniture. We have a Sasquatch costume in the game. The bigger crafting caddie is not a blueprint paper. It's a cutting mat that can't be cut so you can cut other things on it. Thanks James, very thorough review.

That blowup chair brings me back to the blowup chair and table I had in my room when I was in the 7th grade. I friggin loved it, it made me feel so grown up. Perfect for a teenager.
I am getting boho, suburban, kind of rural town vibes. I am liking the sort of random styles and natural vibes. I imagine many of these items would be at home on the set of Stranger Things". You mentioned a thrift store, and that makes sense, because I am seeing so many styles in here, that if you wanted them today, you may have to hit a thrift store, or garage sales etc. I like it, its like we have the 50s up to 80s in here.
I can't wait to get my hands on this pack!!! I'm going to go on yet another building frenzy. I'm going to redecorate Penny's apartment... again. I'm going to make ALL the Art Deco and Art Nouveau builds of my dreams because CURVED WALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like... seriously. Curved Freaking Walls! Also, I'm going to build an art deco movie theater. No one can stop me. It HAS to happen. We've got all the perfect lights now AND the seating thanks to Werewolves... ZOINKS.

This makes me wonder if the Décor to the Max kit was basically the art déco furniture that didn't get included in this pack. But I love the color palette, it matches the more pastel/muted colors a ton of famous CC creators use.

Wow this is by far the best build buy in a pack I’ve seen for years or ever! Cant wait to get it! If I was nit picking it would be great to have a matching counter to the bubble tea station and cafeteria but it still looks so good!

While watching all the different reactions to the trailer from different youtubers, no-one mentioned the RGB desk - you're the first that I've seen to notice it! (It was one of the things that I thought people would geek out over)
I like the beds a lot. I see what James is saying - there's a color palette and the colors and styles all work together without being like "oh that's a HIGH SCHOOL PACK house" the way you get if you build using Realm of Magic or something. I feel like you could easily use these with just base game or base game and 2 or 3 other packs and it would work really well. Like, you can see on one of the couches they used a print from Movie Hangout. The BB in this pack and the BB in Werewolves really seem to tie together some loose ends and bridge pack styles
after watching this i got so many gameplay ideas, like moving a poor family into that shack in the town (making it look more run-down beforehand, of course, because the initial build is too nice), maybe something like eddie's family from stranger things, just an elderly uncle and his somewhat of a misfit nephew
another thing i thought of was building a few very small trailer homes in the park lot, obviously it would technically all be one household but with a few different families, and that also opens up so many opportunities for a cool teen gameplay (maybe a rivalry of two male teen outcasts who eventually go on to become best friends after hating one another's guts and fighting constantly) in this run-down trailer park in the middle of the woods, especially paired with the parenthood & maybe some other packs (btw i think for the trailers the window with a big art deco frame might look really really cool)
generally i feel like the gameplay inspiration you get from the world and the build/buy items is a really good indicator of whether the sims teams has succeeded or not in the creation of the world & the items. and in this case i think they have

Ok I admit I was a little disappointed that the track isn't usable to run the mile on or what not and the bleachers you could chill and sit at BUT the build and buy OKAY SIMS way to step it up!! Its is amazing and worth the money to me! I just love the items! I mean sooo many beds and desks and the rugs some of them are stunning and OMG THE LIGHT UP DESK what!? VERY NICE! Thanks, James for showing us! I cant wait to get it!
I wasn't really interested in the pack, but now that you showed the build/buy I need it. I also noticed a couple of swatches that fit perfectly to items from movie hang out and paranormal which made me really happy.
I really just can't believe that we're getting those beautiful dressers and chairs and beds...wow!
I dig how the Sims team thinks about ALL of their packs thus far when they create content for new ones. For example, the Art Deco stuff in this pack can go beautifully with the Maximalist kit. The Movie Hangout /Island Living items can go well with the Bohemian things from this. Parent Hood goes well with the more classic furniture and things from Cats and Dogs. I could also see some of these traditional items crossing over with the Paranormal Stuff pack. They have set styles they pull from, and this is why you don't see anything new and crazy different. They want everything to work together ultimately. I love it. The things from Snowy Escape /City Living can cross over for the Kawaii/Anime themed elements as well. I'm sure they have boards with pins linking all of these elements together. I'm just seeing this as we get deeper into packs. There are many other packs that style wise mix together. As a builder who is familiar with the catalog, I'm sure you see all of these connections. I'm just rambling. Thanks for the overview James!
