Pretty surprised the Thunderer didn't shoot at you - my general experience is getting hit by a Thunderer in a dd is pretty gaem ending... Plus your team actually shot at radar crusiers rather than just carrying on farming bbs... also this is a ranked game so it's comparitively easier to isolate one enemy ship (assuming they don't all blob up). In randoms you usually end up facing 5-6 enemy ships around any given lane - with the various accuracy buffs it's difficult to survive as a gunboat dd... (come to that was recently moaned at for not capping a cap that had in it two petros and a haragumo...) i might try the increased range on smaland again though - didn't find it much good on my european/sweedish captain when they first came out as on friesland the accuracy wasn't good enough, but times have changed. (Oh and fairly consistent in the damage it does to you - yes Venezias & Austins). Probably my poor decision making but I find torp dds much easier at the moment. Plus I don't think you got radar'd at all in the whole of this game... been doing pretty well in Gearing, but playing her mostly as a torp boat with good guns...
Shima is a torp boat. You build for full torpedo reload and concealment. Don't use 20km torps. They can be seen from the moon. Don't use 8km either because they are just nuts and a meme. Get used to 12km and play around Russian radar. I'm now using the legendary module. It's tough but at least the launchers now can catch up with the ships turning rate. That extra boost to reload suits your playstyle (103sec!). And finally: YOU HAVE GUNS!!! It's not your primary weapon but you usually outspot everything except legendary Gearing (and Kagero but that's just T8). When you see an enemy DD - you are allowed to shoot first. Yes, reload is slow but these guns hit very hard (2150 dmg per HE shell!!!) and are accurate. Preferably shoot while kiting away because you have an A turret and X&Y turret in the back. If you don't use it already use a dynamic crosshair and train, train, train... Almost forgot to mention: turn off your AA until the very last moment. But CVs are just a different level. If a CV focuses you try to live as long as possible to distract him from your team. Running away, zigzagging and smoking up if possible. Note that rocket planes usually have a wide radical so nose/stern in while bombers have a long radical so you want to turn sideways to them. You basically have no other counterplay. That's Shima in a nutshell. She was my first T10 ship and I've accumulated more than 2M XP in it. You can also look up my stats, I'm not hiding them. It literally outguns all of those other than harugumo ap.
Smaland beats Gearing. Also, Smaland can play around French destroyers, Daring and Harugumo no problem (especially Harugumo).
@@dzello Yeah you lose in a gunfight against a daring, harugumo or a French dd ^^ a good gearing player can hurt you too
@@justtheaesome6058 if you lose a gunfight to any of those ships in a smaland you just suck at playing dds, Smaland has 3 heals, a radar, a BS 30% speed boost, and the second-highest DPM for a DD in the game. There is no reason you should lose a gunfight to any dd with smaland
Smaland wrecks all of them except French DDs.
And Smaland has other ways in dealing with French DDs
sonar, radar=your team+your self will be reported
Geez, reading the comments just reflects how bad this community got in dd gameplay... sad story.
Potato Quality. "DDs win games."
Not if there is a CV.
I report everything that floats on wows if they fuck up the ranked
Yeah, Smalland is some broken piece of shit, we all know.
Nerf it or make it available to everyone again. Dumb Wargaming...
