As someone who lives in Illinois, this is the first time anyone has ever used "Fun" and "Illinois" in the same sentence.
hmmm...Wrigley field and fun...Taste of Chicago and fun....pretty much any town fair and fun....I grew up in Illinois, spent 20 years on active duty...I always have "fun" when I come back to visit.

What about the sentence “Illinois is not fun”?
People don't generally consider accuracy mods to be "extra dpm", but you could consider consistently landing more shells to be an increase in dpm.
Reload increases potential maximum DPM while accuracy raises DPM consistency. There's a big difference that has its benefits in different situations.
I'd still prefer reload over accuracy, at close range the dispersion is already good enough
@@andreagiano5065Dipends on the ship. Montana and Iowa can work with just the accuracy mod. Even Vermont and Minesota.
I wish there was an option to try out ships before purchasing them. It would help a lot with expensive (ressource) ships

If only this had been the new American BB Tech Tree line instead of hybrid BBs. A T8 Norcal hull with 12 Mk15s (Buffallo guns), Illinois and then a T10 Monty hull with 16 Mk16s.
PQ you can actually reset the line, use free-XP to free-XP the line, reset again, use free-XP again to free-XP the line and play in co-op. What i want to say is you can stack the researchpoints bonus so you will end up saving a lot on credits.

Also don't forget to take the season bonus into account and make sure to pick it up every season.
Yeah but that costs alot of free xp, i personally find it hard to get enough free xp to just get 1 line with only free xp

Picked up Illinois yesterday - its a lot of fun. I play it like my venezia, similar to how it was played in the video. I definitely prefer the dispersion mod in slot 6 over the reload mod. Seems like I'm landing a lot more shells with that mod.

I have heard a lot of people with buyer's remorse regarding Illinois. Remember, PQ liking it and doing well in it doesn't mean anything but that. Your experience may be way different. I haven't played the Illinois but I have played against it and my impression is that Illinois has weak armor and will get clapped bow in against BB. It's not that tanky.

You should consider brisk for your commander skills, combined with speed flag and you’ll go 37.5 knots when undetected (unlike Iowa/Missouri with 38.1knots because of different base speed).
I got mine yesterday. And I agree its loads of fun. It is an Americanized version of the German Mecklenburg. The Reaload is more like Buffalo not Des Moines and they work great.

I think the Illinois is the "Little battleship that could"....it's a ship that has guns that don't make other BB's fear her getting citadels on them, but she will absolutely farm damage off them like it was going out of style.
Once you get used to it's easy to consistently hit ships at long ranges in Illinois, however in cr-ap dispersion ships like Ohio that really becomes difficult.
Illinois' dispersion only LOOKS better because you're firing 12 DM guns compared to Ohio's 4, but Illinois still has regular BB dispersion.
And Ohio's dispersion isn't bad to begin with. Most times I miss shots because I don't lead well enough
The bane of Illinois are particularly Russian DDs that can shoot accurately at longer ranges while Illinois cant. Another problem is if you find yourself to be the only BB on the flank then you can't perform standard BB role which is deleting other ships.
I am looking into a specialized build captain just for Illinois - trying to build a supercruiser. Going rudder and reload mod, captain with vigilance, extended range secondaries but no manuals, dropping the heal buff, looking to help her bad torp protection and low pool with better detection and wiggle. So far - I like it. CQC and you are at 7.1s reload on mains, only gets better with AR...

No that's not how that works the way that you cannot put Luigi on this ship than American ship you can put Halsey on this ship you don't want to run reload mod on this ship because it makes your shells go all over the it's better to use the accuracy mod trust me

@@avatarwarmech console commanders have most of the shelp accuracy perks, the 11% is nice, but you can pull the reload mod on anything with more than 9 shells on the americans just fine without the 11% mod, but if you want to max out your accuracy its completely fine too.
But on console all ships can equip Epic mods, and the reload epic mod can get out of control real fast.
It starts at only 10% better reload on that mod
But after every 50 shell hits you gain 5% extra reload speed and it maxes out at +35%.
Illinois would be broken on console if you build her right and get a good spawn that allows you to position close enough to farm.
I do belive that if you go with the brawler build there you are going to have to deal with a 16km range on main battery but its worth it on console bc maps are smaller
Illinois is one of my favorite ship. very fun to play and easy credits farming.

I got mine today. 51K RP is more than other T9 ships there, but as only BB its expected.
I was reseting US CL line, as I played them sooner for research points purpose without free xp use much. But lately I avoided playing Seattle and Worcester, I simply free xped line to get RP for Illinois.
I am going reset Harugumo line next time, saving resources used is fine.
I already have Ohio, Siegfried, so this "hybrid" BB was next logical step for me.
I played Illinois just few ranked and focused on HE, so results were not great.
Also main armament mod 1 is a must, although turret barbettes are pretty thick (I was worried it would get DM armor there), turrets themselves get incapacitated easily.
Also concealment on captain looks usefull, that I have to reset.
Thanks for tips on build, already looking to update my Illinois setup and try harder get better results.
321K with T9, WOW, that means the ship is capable, then its just on player and luck.
Question are those turrets the same as Annapolis guns?

it's a scary ship, sorta like a desi, only far scarier because it's not as easy to sink. ran into one yesterday in my thunderer. beat it down because i played islands and spotting better then he did. but man was he a scary beast to fight. in the hands of a better player that fight would have went the other way.
Same, I played my Bourger and mistook it for one of those Hybrid ones. Fought open water and I had a NorCa backing me up. He absolutely shredded the NorCa before I was able to take him out. The DPM is quite scary

I am now regretting buying the Gibraltar a few weeks ago, if I would of know this was coming I would of waited for sure, guess I gotta start grinding lines again, I have already done the harugumo line 51 times. Imagine this ship with halsey on and that game mode arm s race this ship will be insane.
I had an arms race game in it yesterday. It was pretty nutty. I got down to 6.5s reload towards the end. You're approaching Annapolis levels of DPM at that point. That was just with Adrenaline Rush and the Arms Race buffs. Halsey Confederate would have been even crazier.
@@Frigidblood Well I now own my illinois and so far for me I am not enjoying my experience, I have only played it in randoms as I am in the gold league for ranked, its so hard landing shells even on BBs at 20k plus range lol
Yeah the Gib is definitely a let down i would rather have gotten mino's radar instead of the smoke. the conceal just doesnt work for a ship that big shooting in smoke.
is this going to be a premium or is this a research/steel/coal ship?
Not Illinois related but, how do you still have the larger minimap mod working? ModStation and Aslains say that it is not available this patch so I'm curious if there is a backdoor way to make it work.
I had been thinking about getting either the Vampire II or the Hector, but I did´t feel like doing the re-grind again. I already have the Ohio and Druid. But as soon as I saw videos on this ship, I reset my Gummo line right away! I´m only 26,000 research points from the Illinois.
Don't know about the Hector but the vamp is an excellent DD.
I own all RB ships except the illinois gonna take me around a month then I will have 50k RB I think after that I am never doing a reset ever again
Man i really love this ship. Its so fun and good. Still Subs and Carriers are plague. But its really just a different experience.

Bought her recently, she has a huge potential, but i still have to get used to her main battery gun angles/speed.

Taking the american arty plotting room can significantly increase your shell dispersion so imo i wouldn't take it

If you reset any line, do not play it! Research the line with free xp and then reset it a few times without purchasing the ships. This will save you 100's of millions of in game cash.
This ship is cool.its a cross between cruiser dpm with battleship armor .it's a bb captiains dream. Lol hopefully it comes to wows legends on console

I personally would go with Ohio for her guns, secondaries, and her super heal while Illinois is just super fun and plays more like a super cruiser version of Des Moines.
Come on guys! Everyone keeps saying that those are DM guns! They aren't! They're Buffalo/Baltimore guns
They are des Moines guns only difference is the turrets having 4 barrels
@@SkyRaider-31The Des Moines has semi-autoloading, hence the ridiculous reload. This one doesn’t.
@@grahamstrouse1165 it doesn't get the absurd reload for balence purposes but if you'd look at what version of 203mm guns Illinois has they are indeed des Moines guns

I did x2 research points Italian criusers and just Venezia left to play and I will get all together 67k research points and....OHIO or Illinois hard choice for me hehe.

You know it makes me kinda sad tho. Historically, this alternate design would’ve also had a redesigned superstructure with stronger AA and 36 dual purpose 127mm secondaries (18 twin turrets). It could’ve had a hilarious amount of, say, Massachusetts secondaries, but no, making a whole new superstructure for an already existing ship model was clearly too much work for WG.
Honestly I would've wanted that model of Illinois, because I want to secondary war crimes on destroyers.
Ikr, it’d be funny to watch other bbs burn under the number of fires you’d set with the sheer amount of secondaries.
Accuracy mod is better in my opinion as the dispersion without it is way too bad!

When you get to play PQ for the first time and your team is so terrible is lasts 6 minutes
So an HE spammer that's harder to kill. Seems fun to play against. And honestly there wasn't enough HE spam in the game already so the ship was sorely needed.
Just had a game with my tier 9 Black that had 3 hybrid CVS and a normal one on the enemy team.. Was bombed to oblivion as two of the Nebraska's were in same squad
haha, i think we played aginst the same div. went aginst them earlier in my marceou i dint even stand a chance, and they where being super toxic in chat
What bothers me about this ship is that the Superstructure doesn't look like it should, like why does it still have the raise fire control position which isn't present on the design? why does it have the two smoke funnels of Iowa and not the single trunked funnel from the proposal? why does it just have the 10 twin 5"/38 mounts instead of 16 twin 5"/54 mounts? The answer is laziness, or at least I wish I could say that but they made the effort to add the weird looking aft radar tower, which is also not present in design G (which Illinois is based of since Design G is the proposal with 3 turrets as opposed to F with 2 turrets and H with 4 turrets). I suppose that is an attempt to avoid claims of it being a complete and total copy-paste with swapped guns.

Had 80k rb points hanging around so I got it last night. I went range over reload. while it's only 1 point I wonder why you took shell switching. With a 7 second and lower reload, why would you need it. Also, torps are the bane of bb's so I almost always take torp damage reduction. My one and only game in the ill was not good at all. Subs...
This thing is kinda op....Probably win all fights again most t9 cruisers and BBs....HE is way too strong. Burns alaska like BBQ... and It is not like AP is bad...AP is good too. I won't be supurised that they nerf the reload..

This looks like more of my playstyle but I Uninstaller months ago. Watching PQ is more entertaining than playing the game for me lol. No time for it these days anyway.
I haven't played the game in about a year, and for the first time I see a mildly interesting new ship .... aaaand its a Research Bureau ship. And there hasn't been a good new coal ship in eons. This game has gotten so stale man.
everyone keeps shitting on the Illinois for its dispersion, yet every video I am seeing a shit ton of hits, and that reload pretty much more than makes up for the dispersion of the 12 main cannons...lol...12 with what 7-8 second reload timer?

It is just plain bad. Playing like a cruiser behind an island wastes a BB. Any US cruiser would do the same.
I hope they nerf this to oblivion. Seriously. I mean this thing has all the benefits of the cruiser class, combined with the benefits of the battleship class, with none of the drawbacks. Oh and it's only for the L33T players who have tons of research points. So doubly unfair for 95% of the player base who can't no-life this game.
How dare they have free ships available to reward players who put the time and effort into the game. Also the RB isn’t that hard to unlock either, and since it does take time to collect the research points needed to get the ships they should be really good to begin with. You don’t need to no-life the game. I only have 3k matches in the 8 years I’ve been playing and almost have my second RB ship. They’re not that hard to get.
@@ArmorPiercing11 Dude. I dont have a problem with research ships being better than other ships of their tier. But this thing is seriously overpowered compared to everything else at its tier. Its just too much.
It doesn’t have cruiser accuracy. Heck, it doesn’t even have battlecruiser accuracy. It has BB accuracy.
It also has BB agility rather than cruiser agility.
@@Neneset please just stop. Every single streamer and wows content creator has commented on how stupidly OP this ship is, for exactly the reasons I mentioned. Of course its got BB agility, but its also got BB armor, BB HPs and a citadel that sits below the water. I guess we should be thankful that it doesnt have an airstrike or a superheal.....the worst thing about it is that by the time most people have grinded up the research points to get it, wargaming will just remove it from the store.
