I really enjoy the British silver DD's. With their low speed and good concealment, they force you into fights, but they have a tool for pretty much every fight they can get into. Daring isn't just the ship's name, it's the instruction manual for playing it.
The short smokes are good, although they can catch you out if you're not paying attention, similarly the main limitation of daring is slow speed, which makes it hard to escape if you mes up or get pushed by something fast. It is one of my favourite dds but I do think you need to be careful against ragnars etc. the main thing about it for me is the flexiblity, torps are good (unlike smaland etc.) guns are good, hydro protects you against torps. Great line from Icarus up one of my favourite lines for ranked.
Just got Daring yesterday. I used to hate Jutland but then really got into a groove with her. Daring is a huge step up. Really liking her. Basically, no major weak points for this ship.
I used to believe that dd's are all about torps .... But once I got to learn the gun boat way .... Oh man it's one of the most rewarding things in WOWS ....
Thanks for this video. When I first started this game I had seen videos of stealth Japanese torpedo boats. This was my goal, but it soon became apparent that I was not rally a DD player. After seeing this I decided to give it one more chance. Right now I am only up to the Jervise. That was such a step up from the previous level and if the Daring is a similar step up I can hardly wait.
Darings fuse is just as short as most other dds (Kleber/Elbing having longer fuse). However, its arming threshold is 19mm so the ap arms on dd hulls. Akizuki-Harugumo also have a low threshold so i highly recommend using it against dd hulls at
I think the over committing is directly related to this stay back and play passive meta. You finally start actually having fun in the game so you chase it down to keep fun, and wham! You throw.
Daring CPT POV: A fresh cup of tea steeps, you sit up quickly as you join your instant queue game. You forget about the poor top speed as it's not an issue to you because you are a gunboat. The start timer ends while Push It to the Limit plays simultaneously. After reaching the B point for a quick capture, you quench your thirst with the fresh tea. As you set down your cup, you see it. Regalo SAP Shells land and penetrate with a disgusting grouping, 8 rounds hit and see the 4000 HP instantly removed, you get drawn in. Within minutes you are back at port wondering why the fuck you grinded out the British Destroyers, and decide what to play next.
Im of the same opinion that the British DD's on balance are the best in the game. I'm up to Jutland at the moment and looking forward to get my Daring at some point
been in so many games lately were the team had a sure win and ended up losing. everyone starts thinking to themselves "it's a sure win so if i push a little more and get more damage and i die it's no big deal". next thing you know everyone had the same thought and you lost. had a game we were up 3 caps to 1, up 800 points to 300, and had an 8 to 5 ship advantage. but everyone just kept going in one after the other to be focused and die till we lost. no team players left, it's all about "ME" and "MY" score. they think being the top loser makes it not their fault the game was lost.
Daring my favorite ship in the game. Over 600 matches and managing 100k dmg average. Great guns. Good heals. Very usable torps especially when you can land a konga line. Synergizes very well with Cunningham for even more extra healing potential.
In addition to being able to start a lot of fires, the HE also has a tendency to break a ton of shit on dd's. I've had several occasions where a dd I just killed commented about constantly being lit on fire and having torps, engines, and guns broken during a 10-20s engagement. It's a great ship.
Wishing my 1st T10 had been Daring instead of Shima. I learned to play T10 in the Shima as a DD main who is newer to the game and my W/L % shows it. But I have improved to the point that I am the call-maker for a Storm tier clan and was even carrying in a few of our wins this week. Up to the T7 in the Daring line, just gotta make time to get there.
Ah, Daring, my favorite DD around with just everything I can do around, like carrying games around because of her kit. In convoy she's extremely funny to play, because you can't have something better than you in front (the 2nd biggest problem of convoy, the biggest being that when you're alongside the convoy, you have to push, which is problematic with how the game is, basically) and to scout in front of those slow liberty ships. I remember 2 convoy game on the same map (the one named bees to honey) and on each time I spawned on the right flank (aka near where there's supposed to be the brawling cap and the convoy destination). First game I was in the "escorting" part, but without liberty ships. I got rushed down with my mate who was in a Hindenburg by : Schliffen, Preussen, Elbing, Salem. The Schliffen backed quite quickly somehow and then the Preussen rushed me down while the Elbing sent down torps, which are scary because they're slow and long range. So, the Preussen went down but my butt was clenched until I popped a smoke with the Salem flat broadside to me. Let's just say that he didn't lived long enough to keep pushing us (yes the hunting team pushed the defending team, which is a mistake with how the game is designed) and finally the Elbing, poor guy was sitting flat broadside to me, in the gap and he like the Salem vanished to my AP (Daring is actually the biggest counter to Elbing, with her excellent AP DPM and the hydroacoustic search) and he vanished like the Salem. And because they lost 3 ships and we finally pushed down the team and winning the game. The same day, but on the hunting part of it I spawned on the same flank again, and got a Napoli sitting at like 9 KM and he eat a conga line because that's something Daring and all British torpedoes can do, is being individually dropped and make what is called a conga line by stacking them all right behind the one before them, allowing to suppress nose in targets. Once he was gone, tried the same with a Petro but because of Pinnacle soviet engineering, it was so narrow that I didn't hit any torpedoes (especially when compared to other CA, only Zao, Des Moines and Henri are thinner) yet managed to win the game by preventing a push from the flank (also finished in the top 3 for that game)
I like the Brit boats also. I recommend the American and Brit line dd's to all new players, I think they are the easiest lines to be successful in. Late tier Japanese boats are amazing too but a bit of a grind getting to the real fantastic boats. If I had to recommend one line for a newbie I would go American just because there really is not a single dud in the line. I entered the brit line at Icarus I think so I didn't play or don't remember anything before that. The other lines are amazing also but you need some understanding to be successful and consistent with them and it takes some time to get the feel of them when your new.
American DDs are weird and inconsistent until you get Benson. Long smokes are difficult to master. I generally recommend British or Euro lines for beginners.
The Daring is my absolute favourite with ~69% WR. Its perfectly flexible and can adapt against all threats. CVs, agressive engagements or defensive escapes. Its in no category perfect but in all about 80% well so you can adapt to all situations paired with solid tools.
Not to mention even if you unlock the other gunboats, it remains one of the most fun among them to play. To be fair I haven't found any of the gunboat DDs disappointing, but I still enjoy playing Daring the most.
You know the feeling when you are sitting in a public transport and two people sharing an Internet meme that came up in 1995 but they just discovered it for the first time, meanwhile nobody ever uses MSN Messengers where they found it for a decade but they don't even know it. That's how I feel about this video upload.
I got a team yesterday that lemminged to one side and the just stayed at the back, never firing at enemy cuniberti once. Also cv kept dropping fighters on me. Very frustrating!
The mass opinion seems to be it doesn't gain enough DPM over the T9 for how massive it is and how sluggish it is. Most of the folks I know that enjoy the IJN gunboats stick with the T9 over the Harugamo because of that.
i´m actually grinding the line and tomorrow will finishing it. I was looking for a video about the daring 2 days a go. what a great timing dude. thanks a lot!
Been playing triple Daring divs with my clan mates after CB and my karma has tanked big time as we have been wrecking nearly every game we play. The Daring is hilarious to play and as PQ said, it is the best DD to get first as I did. The duking ability is pretty nuts and the guns are very easy to use. It's biggest weakness is the lack of speed, hence why its not played much in competative. I play the Z-52 in CB as its fast and has insane torp reload and the AP is a monster, but the Daring is not far behind.
I almost exclusively use AP on Daring against other DDs until I'm bouncing every shot, because most of the time they will be forced to go broadside to attempt to trade better with you by using all their guns or just turning to run away. It took me some time to get used to it, since it has 6km concealment, but Daring is a ton of fun to play when you're given even the smallest opportunity to let loose.
The AP is so good, I currently lead a Typhoon CBs team and as a DD main without access to Smaland I often run Daring in the cap contest role, even against Smalands and Ragnars it can hold its own with good positioning and support.
Absolutely correct as far as easy-ish to learn, high reward potential, and quality thruout the line. The jutland used to be my #1 DD(advantage over the daring being .3km better detect). Then the vampire came along! Only thing it doesn't do as well as daring is torp. No question, its the best DD hunting DD in game!
0.3 km is trivial, especially with fast smoke. Daring has heal over Vampire. I wouldn't say Vampire is the apex DD killer. There are stronger candidates: Smaland, Ragnar, Kleber, Marceau, Harugumo, etc.
@@blusafe1 an argument could be made for smaland and kleb. The kleb has the speed to either run, or charge and out dpm you. But most of the time that's a trade, or I keep kleb from objective. Smal obviously had a radar counter. If they are good/aware, they are Def a threat. But again, advantage goes to vamp if you have support, Smal has nuthin to hide in after intitial contact. Point is, if aware of radar threats, a vamp can use the 5k hydro and crawling smoke to be far more aggressive in DD hunting, than MOST of her counterparts.😉
Moskva is good enough against DDs in brawl, 1vs.1. Good radar, and pushing at different speeds even some backward but going streight to them is a killer. Avoiding close contact. I used HE shells, I received a lot of fire, but if you don't expose broadside, it's fine, almost fireproof. Easy meal. :))
I really hate t=o see this ship on my flank. This is the line I'm working on now. I'm that average player who tends to often have exceptional games in excess of 180k damage. I think I'll do fairly well in this ship. Great video as always.
What would you get with the last 2 commander points? I am deciding between demo expert and extra AP damage. Nice video btw, just got my daring one hour ago so perfect timing.
Personally I like Lightning better but Daring is really good too. Lightning has a 5.5 detect and in my mind is the best sub hunter in the game. Lightning is 'very" maneuverable and relatively small and thus can kite fight away when radared. No heal and virtually no AA hurts but it hard to hit even with aircraft. I rarely use AP because it lights fires so well. Daring is an awesome DD though and is very fun to play in any battle type. I love them both very much!
as far as sub hunting goes, the german z-52 line has regular hydro (longer range than daring line), and halland has forward-firing depth charges which are a lot easier to use. but you're right, the daring line is really strong at sub hunting
I mean yes the smoke is nice but a decent marcue with a keyboard and knows how to dodge is more frustrating to deal with you can never hit him and when you do you do so little damage and if you get a good hit in AR starts melting you back
German DDs crying in a corner "We did HYDRO FIRST! and FAST RELOADING TORPS! Why does no one play us?!" at least they have good HE PEN even if the damage is super low.
