- I'm still with Valerie and we are heading to Maun; the touristic capital of Botswana. We see our first elephant of the adventure, right next to the main road! It's a very emotional moment.
In Maun, I try to find a place to fill up the gas bottle I bought when I was overlanding in Turkiye -but the hose is different and there is no way to fill it up. The only solution is to buy a new gas bottle with a stove.
I enjoy a nice little run into town where I can practice the Tswana language and be on my own for a little while.
The second morning off we go to Moremi Game Reserve for my very first self-drive safari in Africa, and obviously with my own car Rafiki. And Valerie, of course! And before we hit the corrugated gravel road which leads to the reserve, it's time to deflate the tyres...my own way: with a screwdriver! I drive with a pressure of 2.4 bars on asphalts and drop it to 1.8 / 1.9 bars on corrugated roads like this one.
Moremi is certainly the most beautiful game reserve in Africa and probably in the world! We see tones of elephants, many calves, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, giraffes, and so much more.
I will never forget these powerful moments of silence where wildlife, nature, and us two are apprehending each others.

The beautufull thing about Botswana is: those images of the elephants in the last part were on the road to Moremi, not even in Moremi itself yet. On this road I saw a leopard, you can see lions and wild dogs as well. Botswana is just crazy. Thanks for sharing, good Luck on all your journeys.
