Great video! Agreed - for me it really isn't about losing gear. It's about the jump scares - and also frustrations. I really hate the embarrassing feeling I often get after losing a fight that suddenly broke out. It's *really* aggravating for me. But I think the root cause is that I just don't have enough exposure and experiences of success to prevent me from being so harsh on myself.

    • @MouseRave

I've never really heard anyone adress this, but its exactly how I feel. I used to think I was worried about gear, but I was really worried about getting absolutely destroyed by the sudden sound of a bullet piercing my helmet and shattering my head. I might try this method more now that you've shown me this perspective on it.

A few hundred factory raids will take that feeling right out and replace it with anger and hate to kill all pmcs. I was and am still a little weary playing matches for as solo, for random head eyes still and hackers. exposure is true. Even though nobody wants to be shot at or in sudden fire fights. I can reassure that once you get used to being shot and accepting the loud booms and gunshots right at your ears. maintaining your composure to crouch and tap a head. It will be something you do passively and with vigilant reflexes. Cheers china

Honestly this is such a huge barrier for me, and its such a struggle I want to so desperately overcome. I feel even with friends the sudden loud boom of a random headshot piercing either the visor or my helmet or just getting randomly sprayed at fills me with anxiety. I genuinely love this game and for me the anticipation absolutely kills me. I would love to snipe but the thought of sitting there and not seeing someone (I stink at spotting people) and randomly getting jumpscared triumphs over that. This video has given me more of a push to get over that barrier so I thank you, it will be a long journey but one I wish to really overcome.

When I first got into tarkov, I wasn't having fun because of how hard the game was. But I loved the challenge so much it kept me addicted. I even invited my friends to play, telling them how much in depth the game is ( which they all quit playing because of the difficulty). One thing I learned was to accept dying and losing gear and just have fun. The sooner you can accept that, the better tarkov experience you will have. Awesome video.

  • @thebulletkin8393

This summarises it perfectly. I can fully embrace the knowledge that at the start I will not be good. Same thing happened when I started pubg, but that feels completely different because you don't ever lose anything. Tarkov's psychological effect is just so much worse.
I want to get in, try something new and improve over time, but it feels like it punishes learning so much. I guess I just need to try and force myself to die a bunch to the point where it doesn't ever feel like I'm losing anything, then hopefully it becomes more natural.

I got into tarkov because a couple buddies liked it, but now I'm solo playing the game and I agree with everything here, I don't care about my loot going into or out of raid, I'm just scared of being shot at suddenly, but a few factory runs to die on is the way to break through.

  • @GhostMarineYT

Hey man just watched your video and i agree, playing solo helped me get over my fears of bad approaches in gun fights (not being afraid to shoot friends) playing alone made me a better player and i just hit 300 hours (and im new to pc so i have to learn even more) sounds cues are literally everything in this game and having someone yelling in your ears with bad comms can make the fight end in seconds, an advice from a new player and yet still very dedicated Solo Raids makes you pick up on flaws and strengths you have and afterwards you can work on them, but gifting kits in team of more then 3 is not the way (i lived it) now im barely playing more then duos.

I love Tarkov otherwise (and apart from other problems), but some tasks are a nightmare for newer players (and often more veteran players too)

"It's not the gear fear, it's the getting scared" This is exactly my problem, so often it feels like whenever I do move around I get jumpscared by a player or a scav I can't see or hear and having ADHD makes this 10x worse. I could give a shit about the gear or rubles, as it's so easy to get. It's also why it takes me a lot longer than others to unlock the flea market that itself is a huge achievement for me each wipe. Yet I'll happily slide into a lighthouse night raid and not have issues, but that anxiety is always gonna be there in the back of my head.

The patch is amazing but I'm stuck in a cycle of staring at my stash until alt-f4ing if my friends aren't on. I don't care about gear, or dying but playing solo now just gives me constant anxiety throughout the raid so it's not enjoyable

Kind of right, but also... im not afraid of fighting anybody anywhere, but i do get some adrenaline if im walking around thinking there are campers everywhere, so what i do is taking a cheap gearset, push around the map and learn the timings and where things can be or come from, and where to check. Then its just walk around the way i do, and if some bush muncher sits still in the right spot for 30 min to get me, so be it.

Tarkov is extremly new player unfriendly, I got the game in 2018 but only just started playing 2024 (50-ish hours) And asides all the difficulties within armor and weapons and maps etc. The biggest turn off is that everyone I walk into is level 30+ with 1000-4000 hours played. Never felt I lost a fight based on skill but time invested. But it makes one feel even more hold back to even shoot anyone cause they just gonna be super exp anyway. Very frustrating.

  • @cholohd32

    Hints:
    - For new players i suggets doing night raids on Factory for maxium scariness. like go in with a shotgun with a flashlight on & some 7mm/6,5mm buckshots in your belt. Dont even need a west or backpack because you can pick them off the first scav/enemy you kill. Do make sure to have a armor on & perhaps a helmet. I never used headsets & tarkov audio is wonky anyways. Even at low levels you can snipe the good shotguns like 153/155 from Fence & replace the 4 mag with like a 6 shell mag. Then just rapid fire the whole mag into anything that moves. Buckshots may not have much armor pen the multiple pellets does massive overall damage. Use Piranha once you unlock them. Try to use the flashlight only in combat.
    - reposition constantly. Watch a video about how scavs work & on how to reposition. Reposition constantly. This is not COD, so the thing that keeps you alive it running away & finding a new angle. I reposition myself constantly & after anything/everything really.
    - even if you are new to the game & dont know the maps do try to think about going from cover to cover if possible.
    - dont forget about the scrool wheel to sneak more.
    - advanced tactics is something i fear you can only learn by playing, but i do want to mention that you can transfter some tactics or mentality from other games even other genres. I mean in Dark Souls you also only engage one enemy at a time & then fall back.
    - challenge yourself. Because that is what make a game fun at least for me. i another game i got bored fighting the bots/players & so started loading into in solo into 4 team matches. And the game became really fun again. Not saying what your challenge might be because its so individual, but if you challenge yourself you might enjoy it a lot more.

5000+ hour squad player here. Not really done any solos for 5 wipes.
For me it’s not about losing my shit. I don’t even insure my gear, cuz my friends might want it or sell it for profit.
For me the worst part about solo Tarkov is that you get way more fucking jumpscared. My heart jumps out of my chest if I accidently walk into a goblin. XD
But what kinda worked for me when I’m solo is to play very slow and tactical. That means I stay in raid for the entire timer more or less. XD

  • @bonjour9047

Gear fear is quite dumb on Tarkov, when I have valuables that I absolutely want to bring home, well I just extract asap, and if I die in the process then I don't feel bad, I feel bad when my hesitation is the cause of my death, but I'm never upset to die trying something to achieve my objective. You can jump straight again for another round and maybe set yourself back in optimal conditions to go in raid again. Tarkov is way more permissive than you think.
If you don't like to fight you can sucess in Tarkov by being great at positioning, well aware of your surroundings, I'm a hardcore DayZ player and this is my first wipe, I use the topography, the sounds to create a diversion or sounds coming from other players as a diversion, the lights/shadows, I use a lot of defensive nades to secure my escapes in close quarter, I almost never see players using supress fire to cover themselves while moving in high pressure, you litteraly have everything you need to escape from any player.
Tarkov just feels like a Call of Duty without HUD when you are a DayZ veteran coming to Tarkov, even easier

For me it wasn’t worth going out just to looks for Salewa without flea market. Just did most of the other tasks alone that require pmc to do

For me it’s trying to complete tasks by myself when there are lots of people camping :( I get nervous when trying to go to high traffic areas. There’s only so many angles I can check and i can’t see through bushes. I don’t get a lot of time to play so I try not to throw away raids lol. Any tips for this? Especially going for tasks in high pvp areas. Thank you !!!

Personally its not that much the "anxiety" when it comes to tarkov, but more the frustration of actually gearing and being ready for battle, for then to be one shotted by more or less the first bullet in first fight, straight to the head.

If you wanna survive solo in this game you gotta hide for 30 minutes untill the last 15 minutes before moving out, wich is kinda boring. And the scared feeling you have is from cheaters taking ur shit anyway eventually if it is worth.

I played like 3 years ago for 3 wipes. I came back to tarkov and I feel lost on Woods.
Its so annoying that I dont want to play anymore because BSG things its realistic that a PMC that goes into an unknown area does not have any compass or technical device.
Imagine you are a completly new player, its just annoying as fk.

I don't have gear fear I have what's called loading screen fear. Because I know if I die it's going to waste at least 8 minutes of my life getting my pmc geared again and loading into another raid lol.

Pro tip if you accidentally kill someone and they passive aggressively low blow you it’s simple find new people to play with no need to have them lingering around if they feel like that over a game :D

I have over 1 500 hours as a Solo Player, and I disagree about the "sitting scared in a corner" strategy being bad for new players. In Tarkov audio is the most important cue. Learning to master it by learning how to not be heard and sneak up on players will make you a very deadly player down the road. It also gives you the most powerful advantage you can have as a solo - the element of surprise. Once you learn how to be silent and invisible, adding a sprinkle of aggression is easy.

Instead of factory raid, arena is a better option as you would get more pvp for less time.

    • @sirsiver

usually newer players don't have EOD so they can't get their hands on arena unless they spend 30ish euro for this dogcrap of a "game"

I have a buddy, tries to convince me spt is better and online isnt worth because of the fear. My man wont get out of hus own way. Litterally every time we play hes on for like 3 or 4 raids then gets pissed and gets off. I end up soloing just because i want to play. Point is self awareness and maturity are a big part of this video; Accountability.

For me, it's never been about being scared. It's about realizing patterns and understanding what you're leveraging versus what you're getting out of it.
I feel like the game doesn't respect your time, and perhaps it doesn't aim to. You can spend a ton of time and money on a kit, just to die to a nearby spawn.
You can also spend a lot on a kit only to not find enough to justify bringing that kit in. So many random variables, yet too many set patterns of guaranteed set backs.
Hard to explain, but I just feel my time is basically wasted when I play.

Anyone got tips for reducing load in time, my biggest reason for not wanting to play is I haven't been able to play a wipe from the start and so I come back to the game when everyone has better stuff and I feel less inclined to play when I spend about 5 minutes gearing up, then wait 5-6 minutes loading into a game just to die in 1 minute its a technical issue that affects my motivation over everything

      New player here.
What you're talking about made me put off playing this game for almost a year and a half after buying it.
For this though, i feel like i have overcome a small part of it but enough that im proud that i did.
I feel like on woods i am at least ABLE to figure out where i am better. On customs, i feel like maybe i wont get sniped as much and though i still find myself stuck in a corner, i now am stuck in a corner where i think other spawns wouldn't instakill me the moment i spawn. On ground zero i died so much i think i understand where i can die from enough to at least prevent one death out of a hundred.
This is sad news for a lazy ass like me, but to be honest, it feels like the only way you learn this game is by actual true brute force.
I am thinking about focusing my gameplay on dying in each and every manner possible so i can expand my exposure to death a bit more.\
      Hopefully this helps!

gear fear doesnt exist if you play the game like it should be. I picked up the game 4-5 weeks ago and now so much better than most people i sherpad with. why? cuz i pushed the limits of the engagements i was in and learned offline for layouts and just pushed. but hey people learn at their own pace so you shouldnt use me as an example. I now have a 5.4 kd and 47% extract success rate. and i just touched the game. so you can do it just believe in your skills
