A good honest review, can't beat a springer. Thanks.
There is something that mentally comes into play when using springers in my opinion, since you only get one shot and the reloading generally takes a lot more longer than magfed PCPs, using one for many years made me a much better shot.
To be honest you generally only get 1 shot at any pest anyway if u miss there gone nice to have a pcp for the reload speed for a follow up shot if needed but I have both pcp and spring and I prefer to hunt with my springers it feels more raw and more rewarding 💯👌
Nice vid mate, lovely bit of kit. I also like that you've gone for a smaller scope, far too many people stick huge great 50 or even 56s on springers that they're shooting at 30m and it just overbalances the gun to no good effect. Looks daft too.
Hello My friend,
It's great to see you again. The last time I messaged you, you were having trouble with your FAC licence, so I hope all that's worked out.
Funnily enough, I've just bought a very nearly brand new model of what have there.
A great work colleague bought it and found his heart wasn't in shooting. I was flattered he gave me first refusal, so I made sure he didn't lose out financially.
Mine is in .22 calibre. With the weather, I've had mine a good bit too, before throwing a pellet down the barrel.
Only this last week, I began at twenty yards, thirty, then forty yards. I zero my air rifles at forty yards, then learn my holdovers/unders at the other distances, producing a list so I wouldn't forget.
At twenty and thirty yards, it was producing great, tight groups. I was aiming at a five pence piece sized circle. I struggled at forty yards with tight groups. However, schoolboy error!
I checked the fore end screw which was loose. On the 99s, it's just one screw, underneath and not the normal two screws either side.
When I try again, I'm sure I'll get better groupings at forty yards.
I agree with you, my friend, It's a great spring air rifle, quality parts, and engineering. You don't normally go wrong with German stuff.
Yes, mate, it's a cracker. It's not a pcp. They're totally different units. You've a lot more hassle with a springer being silent and reloading is much more hassle than moving your magazine round to your next shot with the cocking lever. That said, you're not tied to a dive bottle.
Yes, mate. It's nice and lightweight, accurate, handy, and overall, a beautiful piece of kit. They're lovely to own, great value for money and not breaking the bank.
Best wishes, my friend.
Take care,Ian.
Ps. It's up to each individual how they go about their shooting journey. Personally, if you shoot a springer, regular, it keeps your feet on the ground and your marksmanship principles in your mind. Pcp's are great, no question. Though I think they make me, personally lazy, and give me a false sense of security.
Agree 💯 percent thanks for the comment top man 👍
@@airhunteruk 😉
Great comment
👍😁🏴✌️
Good to see u back mate , look forward to ur vids.. I find if u wear a glove while shooting the springer it helps with the movement of the recoil better.
Cracking video. I'm an old codger and only got back into air guns a few years ago, deciding to go with a springer first, the HW99S. Love it! Then I dipped my toes into the PCP world with a Gamo GX40, love that too. Now trying to decide whether to raise my game with a better springer or PCP, but will keep hold of my first two loves.
I’ve got one in 22 very accurate you can really place the shots nicely with it top gun for the money
Great vid, good to see you back. Nice to see someone using a springer for a change. Look forward to the next vid
Iv the very same rifle and built a bull barrel with extra length to incorporate some baffles, striped it down polished internally and did a few tweaks, it’s a lot more accurate and around 11 foot pounds, cracking little rifle, TbT do a nice kit for it too, makes a good bit of difference. 177 always.
Good job pal , great to see u back , look forward to ur vids. Was out myself Friday evening with the springer , I know what u mean about going back to the springers , very satisfying to shoot vermin with it . I find if u wear a glove while using the springer it helps it with the recoil movement better . Good to see u back mate 👍
Cheers buddy 👍
Looks like a keeper 😃👍
Great rifles, i got an sandwell field sports imp this year which is a hw99 in 22and its lovely to shoot, good to see you back out and about mate👍
Good video buddy.Cant go wrong with a quality brand springer for that money.Lovely bit of kit.Could do with one for the back garden.
Good to see you back.
Atvb👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I had the 99s in 22 and I sold it and regret it too as it was a cracking little back garden ratter, but needs must and I needed the cash, cost of living sneaked up and bit me on the ass like it did with many but I still have my pro sport in 177 and 97k in 22, along with my hw100kt in 177
Bought mine a few days ago in .177. Other than the normal Weihrauch twang it's a beauty.
I love my 99s, so much so i went a bought a 95, like that so much ive got a 97 coming and saving for a 98.
I like that pic rail!
I always have a spriger with me when i go to the range so when my PCP runs out of puff i go to the springer.
Nice little collection that buddy 👌
@@airhunteruk cheers, I've got 4 PCP s too and a very understanding wife!!
Is there such a thing lol 😆
I have had a 99s for about a year now and I have took 100s of pest with it on my perms I would say it's honestly the most underated rifle out there I also have a 95k and the diff is second to none apart from the mod on the 95 makes a tiny bit of noise reduction but ye 99s is up there with the big boys 💯👌
I do prefer to shoot that HW99 more than any PCP on the market. I own many quality springers and a AirArms PCP but shooting the PCP is getting boring and i use it only with some pest control situations where quick follow up shots are needed. Great rifle Buddy!
Cheers pal
I pick up my 99s Paul short titanium drop in kit . Most of the time over my 77kse tuned jobbie. Sooo light & pointable. Club comps HW100 BP then 99s followed by the 77kse.
My 99s is the most used and pleasant to shoot rifle in my collection 👍🏻
Welcome back fella! So seem pleased to be back too
Good to see you back pal 👌
Cheers buddy
Good stuf with a springer . You have me tempted to clean up my old hw35. It still fires straight but not been used in many years lol since I got my trusty s410carbine mk1 I think atleast 15 years old lol the hw35 is older had since young lad lol where has the time went lol had many happy memories
No watched any air gun stuff for a bit . Iv got bug again . Thanks for video
😊
Ps hope your living the dream
👍😁🏴✌️
Haha thankyou , I hadn't been out for 3 months but didn't realise how much I missed it till last night 👍
@@airhunteruk
I haven't been out since my beloved s410 started playing up .
Lol
👍😁🏴✌️
Great to see you out and about
Thanks for the video, been considering one for about a week now. Looks good 👍
Once it's leaded up and a couple of tins through it should only get better 👍
@@airhunteruk which pellets do you recommend?
I think I’ll run it on wasp pellets if I “pull the trigger on it”
At the minute I've only had chance to put jsb exact in
I like it but it wouldn't make me change from my hw100 I've owned one for 18 years and I love it
My favoured rifle is my HW99S. 22 topped with a 3-9x32 mil dot AO Vector short scope , brilliant rifle .
Need to see more 97 content bro stick with it
Best little air rifle ever for the money 👌👌👌 wouldnt have any other for mooching round smacking squirrels n what not
HW99S, lovely light accurate gun.
She's a beauty
Very accurate considering how fast u were shooting and it wasn’t broken in good luck with the rats
Cheers buddy
I keep looking at the 99 and I think it could well be my next rifle.
Don't think you will be disappointed I'm going to do a video stretching out the distance with different pellets
@airhunteruk that'll be interesting have you had it tuned or is it standard?
Completely standard
@airhunteruk had you thought about getting it tuned or tuning it yourself with a drop in kit?
Will just depend on how it performs would like to think it can do the job straight out of the box
What size is the scope 32mm? Ive got a 3-9×32 i eas going to put it on my 95 but changed my mind.
3-12 x32
Brilliant Thank-you does it balance on there ok I was just a bit concerned how it would look.
So far so good got a video out later shooting at 33 yards
Hi have you still got your 97 or have you traded it in
No just too heavy to lump around farms
Hi mate I'm after same rifle. Can I ask where you bought it .seems a good price. 👍
Skipton gun room buddy
@airhunteruk thankyou much appreciated
Simplicity at its best and good results...Is that a Chronograph or an APPS on your phone Please....If so could you put a link up.......
FX Radar Pocket Chronograph V2 Wireless Bluetooth Airgun Air Rifle Pistol Airsoft Chrono - 2023 Release amzn.eu/d/18xnUgX
Just download the app after purchase right bit of kit
@@airhunteruk Many Thank that looks spot on...My THEOBEN FENMAN .22 seems to be down on its normal performance so a chronograph could well be the answer...Keep the vids coming there honest reviews...
Cheers buddy
It's a HW, only one answer... They have never made a bad rifle.............
I have more time for a springer tbh
Buying one but not sure if 177 or a .22 ,?
Why is it that as of today they are £305 ,,eh. ?
Low power !!? Can you think it about 7 fps at 30 years no way could you shoot game over 40 y
What ?
That's about the power the 99's run at in .177, .22 sometimes 11 ftlb or just over but mine in .22 is running high 10's also. Accuracy kills, not power, Si pittaway on another channel had a BSA ultra running just over 10 ftlbs and made regular rabbit kills over 50yds. For me it's just about rats at sub 20 because I've got rimfires and bigger for the longer range stuff.
