    Yes, that is right, it is most likely to be the most tinkered and messed with Airgun on the market due to its popularity and being glorified by the overseas market for tuning. And yes if you none FX familiar, it can seem very overwhelming. Glad you detected where the issue was located and replacing the regulator is the one sure fire way to correcting the problem., but once you get more familiar with the gun, it’s normally just a simple case of replacing o rings or the regulator piston/repairing it.
    Another thing I’d like to point out is, these guns are primarily developed for the FAC high power market then throttled back for us UK Sub12 shooters! 9 out of 10 FX impacts I’ve had cross my way have been overpowered straight out the box, even to 13.7ft lb, my compact M3 arrived like this. I’m an FAC owner however this rifle serial wasn’t registered as a firearm. I do all my own repairs and upgrades and know most airguns inside out, mainly the FX brand. This for me wasn’t a big problem to sorted out and the bullpup is now sitting nicely around 11.7ft lb 2nd stage reg at 50bar.
    The one caveat to take away from your first experience buying a used FX, is… people looking to do this same should look for these simple red flags.
    1. If meeting face to face with your seller/gun, make sure the pcp is topped up with air. Problems tend to show themselves when the gun is under pressure.
    2. By all means dry fire the gun (making sure you check the gun is safe to do so first and that there is no pellet in the breach) a few times to check the gun is cocking smoothly and not misalignment or grinding present.
    3. Check the allen headed screws for silvering or wear/abuse marks of heavy handedness.
    4. Look down the gun for alignment issues, unfortunately the machine tolerances for FX aren’t to the micron and if the gun was taken apart for any reason, this can become noticeable if reassembled incorrectly (bottle alignment with shroud, scope rail, you can feel with your fingers if out of alignment and both main and rear blocks)
    5. If buying sub12, the regulator if untouched should have a small black delrin puk installed in the top adjustment screw to prevent anyone from tampering! If removed, ask why?
    6, Check the safety works
    7, if you have time, a spare scope and a place to shoot the gun, I highly recommend doing so, don’t just take five shots and say deal, shoot five, watch the reg gauge for recovery time, this should be pretty much instant to return to the set pressure, leave the gun a few minutes and shoot another five.
    8. Listen to the gun, it will speak to you! What I mean by this is, airguns when they have issues tend to sound wrong! Twang rather than a light puff of air (when using a silencer) sometime this can just be a tuning issue and to the untrained ear, most won’t notice or know what to look for.
    9, ask as many questions as possible before you part with your cash.
    Why are you selling it
    How old is the gun and are you the original purchaser?
    Has the gun been repair or taken apart?
    What pellets did you find it shot best with? (although JSB all the way with FX rifles, that’s what they are tuned and setup with from factory)
    Has the barrel been cleaned?
    Had the power wheel ever been turned whilst the guns cocked (big no no and can cause damage)
    If you own a chronograph, or the seller does, use that to check consistency. FX typically are tuned between as low as 5fps to 21fps spread between shots. Fire around 8 to get an average.
    Although this advice is not fool proof, every little helps. Everything is fixable but yes most cost is involved when you purchase a lemon. Pay with PayPal if you have the option then you may have a degree of protection.
    Mathias (RUclipsr from Airbuks channel) has a very useful tips video regarding leaks and many repairs to fx rifles. So will Jeff from Sub12airgunners. These videos are very detailed easy to follow. Hope this helps.

    I bought a FX Wildcat mk3 when they first came out, and after a few years and thousands of shots it's regulator started creeping, and just like you I was really worried about messing something up but it was pretty easy to swap out the regulator for a new Huma. Makes you feel good by doing it yourself too! Take care! ✌️

    Happy New Year and Birthday pal. Great video as always. I’m lucky enough to live ten minutes walk from the guys at HW100 Tuning and when I took my Weihrauch into them they mentioned how many o-rings impacts have. They seldom see a “stock” item and have always been tinkered with. When I was looking for gun number 3 he pointed me towards AGT Vulcan 3’s and I have to say I’m loving mine so far after 9 months. Nice work on taking care of business on your FX - DIY. I've had enough feedback from AN forum members that I will not touch any FX right now, new or used. There certainly are better skilled DIY folks out there than myself, so huge shout out to those who dive right in and make their FX's awesome. Thank you for sharing.

    To be fair, a section-5 qualified gunsmith I know says that when it comes to any make of airguns, he spends most of his time and problem solving on regulators. He advised me that if I was thinking of upgrading from my Air Arms S200 to make sure I got a non-regulated rifle. I think this possibly cuts down choice to another Air Arms, all other £1,000 + guns seem to only be available with a regulator. Please correct me if I'm wrong - it's been known.btw it won't be to attain more accuracy, the S200 can equal any Weihrauch/FX/Daystate/AGT etc, etc, etc ever made. Enjoyed your humble and honest presentation.

      @silverback710 6 месяцев назад +1

      Child's gun though size wise and low shot count really and is quite dated also the multi shot adapter is terrible so whilst yes it may be accurate but if you are looking to upgrade try a hw100 pr s410 both are as accurate as eachother imo suppose there is also a level of if its not broke don't fix it so if your happy what's the point but there is deffinetly more to offer from some newer models mate

    • @mikelangelno

      Don't think the 7 rats I shot Tuesday night in 10-15 seconds using the Rowan Engineering magazine on the S200 cared I hadn't used a Weihrauch HW100 or a Daystate Red Wolf. I'd rather use a "child's gun" than something that looks like a sanitary engineer's sewage clearance tool or something nicked from the 'Ghostbuster's movie.. I would like an Air Arms S510 with a walnut, thumb-hole stock though - very pretty gun, maybe a contender for the best looking as well as accurate PCP ever made. Regarding the 7 rats - one pellet up the spout plus 6 in the mag was the limiting factor but I can live with that unlike the 7 pesty critters. So far I've never needed more than 50 shots a night's session so shot count's not a problem. All the best for the future , m@@silverback710

    • @silverback710
      @silverback710 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@mikelangelno would hardly say the new hw100 looks like sanitary engineers sewage sewage there's a reason it's one of the most popular rifles on the market buddy brilliant rifle I'd wager my 100 against your s200 forever in a day from 20metres to 60metres pellet on pellet with a range of pellets all 14 shots in the same 1 hole grouping with a flawless magazine system likely the best in the air rifle world, suppose its a matter of opinion...but there's deffinetly a reason the s200 isn't made anymore more I do agree they are accurate guns you talk about an s510 a gun that's basically an s410 with a barrel shroud and a side leaver... I would say however if your happy with your rifle then that's all that matters buy air arms aren't the only air rifle technically unregulated weihrauchs are also technically unregulated so wouldn't sleep on an air arms I would shoulder a few options first but I wouldn't dismiss a regulated rifle yes it's one more thing that can fail but allot tend to be fine and way more consistent because of the regulator as this chap in the video has advised this gun was clearly fettled with and that's a recipe for disaster with allot of rifles these days

    Enjoy mate, I've got a MK2 red limited edition in 177 and love it, just put my Zulus on today and been and set it all up. Had mine about 18 months and bought it second hand, just done a reg service on it and new barrel seals to keep it on top form, fiddly but easy enough to work on. I've thought of selling a few times but take it out for the "last shoot" then change my mind about selling it lol.
    I've got too many gun really but can't bring myself to sell it, I've got RED WOLF/ALPHA WOLF/URAGAN2and the IMPACT in PCP's and HW97 SFS Chieftain and TX200 mk1 venom in a Warren Edwards stock all in .177 so finding time to shoot them all is challenging lol, HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and family happy shooting M8

    Many thanks for an interesting and informative video,l recently bought a second hand FX dreamline (most accurate gun I’ve ever used) but after a few nights at the club pellets were jamming in the barrel,so l took it back to the shop l bought it from and the one guy serving thought he knew the problem and took it to the back room where they can test fire into a box fitted with a chronograph. First shot failed to exit so he started to scrub the barrel,a while later he called me back to check the read out (780 fps) and said it was ok and to make sure to scrub the barrel after every box of pellets. I took it home and tried it,same result! So back to the shop and now it’s been sent away (meanwhile l suggested as it happened suddenly that it may be a valve,but hey) . It’s been away for over 4 weeks now and after watching your video Kev and reading the comments l don’t think l can feel confident with it . Thankfully the onus lies with the shop but what about the future! I paid £1000 for this one too,now I’m seriously thinking of taking a different gun instead. Sorry it’s a long one but l needed to say something.🤞🤞🤞🙏

    We feel your pain fella. We’ve all had a similar experience with buying a 2nd hand air rifle. Some blokes are jammy on said gun sale site claiming the age of the rifle etc. Air Arms, for example, will happily reply to an email to them with a provided serial number which reveals the true age of the gun. This should be a standard across the board and is one of the reasons AA rifles hold their value so well. Anyway happy birthday and HNY 🍻👍🏼

But when it comes to my Weihrauch’s they are bomb proof and just utterly dependable which is why a lot of people won’t ever sell theirs.

  • @pellet_on_pellet
    @pellet_on_pellet 6 месяцев назад +1

    What weight are the pellets you shot to get those readings as if they are under 13 grains then that’s much too high. 11.9ftlbs in this cooler weather is much to close to the limit. When the weather turns warmer and drier that will easily be over 12ftlbs as power and speed always drop when it’s winter. You ideally are looking for about 11.4ftlbs with an 8.44gn so that anything g over that has wiggle room to be a bit higher. In this weather you would ideally be under or just hitting 11ftlbs so that when it’s warmer it will jump up a bit. Great video and glad ur MK2 is all good now (but maybe a little on the high side) 👍🏻👍🏻

    I’ve had a mk2 a loved it bought the m3 and it had its problems initially due to clipping. When it came back from the gun shop every single bolt on the gun was loose the reg anti tamper was never refitted either. Unbelievable for a big gun supplier in the uk. My m3 this year sprung a leak and I ordered the upgraded amp regulator with brass piston and seal kits and replaced everything in my m3. Absolutely nerve-wracking stripping the gun down. My front regulator is just above 100 and my rear regulator is set at approximately 50-55. It’s spot on now and used as of then as I can get out. Enjoy the mk2 mate. Should have kept mine. Happy birthday

    Have to say my MK2 V2 25cal (110ftlb)/ 30cal (145ftlb) has been 100%, nearly 4yrs old, not a single leak, the AMP reg has never been touched, doesn't creep & pretty consistent. Currently running 30cal Hybrids 44.5gr 1004fps, over 130 shots 14fps ES/ 4SD. Deadly accurate. Would never part with it. Did change my mates AMP reg in his Crown MK1, simple job, that O-ring is a bit awkward.
    One thing to remember, heavier projectile does NOT mean more energy, a lighter projectile can produce more, if the rifle prefers them. Great video fella

    That's cheaper then here in the U.S it's 2000 with out tax here. I know what your saying though when they say perfect working condition you expect everything to work perfect. But in my opinion you got a good deal because now you have a Huma regulator in your FX GUN and there way better then the stock regulators. I put Huma regulators in all my guns if they don't have one even if the gun shoots good with the stock regulator for instance my EDGUN R3M in 25 caliber shot perfect with the Edgun regulator when I bought the gun used but I put a Huma in it right away. Good luck my friend happy new year.

      So when BSA launched the R12 I thought they would have sorted out the previous issues with the new model, err…no !🙄 BSA management seems to churn out products with the same old problems.
      think Fx do the same to be honest .

Shot HW 100 kt for about 5 yrs seemed to get a slow leak every 18mth or so but was just so accurate I could live with it 👍 just sent it off for a service when needed. Shot nearly 5,000 head with it mostly crows. Switched to a Daystate Huntsman Hr as it had a higher shot count for my hunting and could recommend them as I had no problems and haven’t had it serviced. In 2019 i was trying to buy a MK2 and couldn't find one anywhere. Drove round loads of gun shops that had none. Then i went to the gun shop not far from me and there was a bloke in there with one and he was trying to sell his. I bit his arm off. It was 3 months old, had only had a mag through it and i saved 300 quid.
    Turns out this fella had ordered it and waited months for it but when he got it he decided to order something else and wanted rid of it. So far i've had a couple of o-rings go. Local gun shop sent it off and it was back and repaired within a week and cost me about 40 quid.
    I was luckier than you could ever be to get a 2nd hand MK2 that had hardly been used. The gun shop even transferred the warranty to me that still had 9 months left on it.

    first, the Impact is not for every one, You have to have a pretty good knowledge about how airguns work and be comfortable ripping a high end PCP apart to pieces…if You ’re not that person dont buy one.Of course the barrel been out a lot, its one of the ideas with this design- multiple barrels, a weapon system take apart and put together suiting the application for the day. ANYWAY, well done with the reg change, You should be proud of Your self, You fixed it and will be rewarded with a even better shooting riffle when the reg break in. the speeds You got there is very consistent and promising.
    You just got Yourself the Ferrari of the airguns (when it comes to performance and also complexity)
    Good Luck Mate 👌👍 and welcome to the scary but lovely world of the FX Family 😁🔫🇸🇪 By the way, i did exactly what this video is all about, just got me a very early fx impact mk 1 , with a leak included, i know, its scary for me too, but i hope to get it sorted just like You did, and be rewarded with a well shooting legendary riffle that changed the industry forever.

    Even if you had to replace the regulator you still got a good deal bud what do you expect for a thousand dollars there over 2000 brand new.

    The spread is not brilliant. My sub 12 500mm is giving a DV of 6 and SV of 2 with JSB Heavies, H&N are as good with almost every pellet they make. FX barrels do like the softer lead of H&N.

    That's the thing with FX, they're designed for tinkering....if you know what you're doing or enjoy watching youtube vids to learn how to. If you want a gun to just pick up and shoot buy something else. Hope this doesn't sound like i'm being a smart arse, I don't mean to.

      FX dreamline are lighter and if you don’t want to use the cassette for multiple shots l can place 1 pellet in with fingers 👍
