Chenla was the second Khmer empire, succeeding the Kingdom of Funan or Mountain Kingdom after Funan weakened due to internal conflicts over succession to the throne among the Khmer themselves. What happened next during the reign of the Chenla empire, before it was divided into two and eventually replaced by the Angkor empire, which was the last Khmer empire?
