Just finished watching Color's. I say it everytime they dont make them good like they used too. Nothing out there these day's can touch this kind of movie! Every actor is good. Every scene is good!
Cheers mate for filming the locations. One of the things that makes me love colours is the grittiness of east la. I especially love the opening credits with the song one time one night by Los Lobos. And l love the scene where the camera pans down from the city skyscrapers to the 21st street gang walking down the alley. “Two one homes”. I remember when the DVD came out l thought to myself that some scenes are missing compared to the vhs version l’m used too. Like when Pac-Man comes to pick up Maria and some young vatos (including the kid he sprayed in his face) start hassling him and scratches his car and when theres a Mexican/American guy at the beach with his wife and kids and gets stabbed because his not affiliated with a gang and when the scene before Sean starts to choke the guy saying “spit it out” you see the guy dealing and then swallows the drugs because the cops just drove in. I’m glad l download a uncut version off the pirate bay. One memory that stands out about this film was when it released here in Australia on vhs. After that there were kids at school with Raiders caps. I was 13 at the time and l tried so hard to get one, but never could. This influencing also happened to some kids with the film Romper Stomper. I remember after that came out, some of the Greek kids at school started shaving there heads. I went to a very multicultural school, which l appreciate, because l learnt to judge a person by what they say and do. Not because of there race. I forgot to mention that it’s a shame that the Jesus muriel has gone. I remember seeing that in Falling Down and Blood in Blood out, which was filmed in the similar locations.
Hey thank you so much for watching. That's so wild to hear about everyone wearing Raiders hats over there. I love it. scary to think about everyone being influenced by Romper Stomper though. I did videos on Blood in Blood out and falling down also. Thanks again

I could see him winning Academy Awards. Love your channel carnale, subscribed immediately and will be watching all your videos.
I'm glad you talk about the seven minutes of extra footage. I seem to remember a scene that I saw in 1989 where some guy gets stabbed at the beach in front of his family. But I never saw that scene again and thought maybe I made it up in my head?
I remember that scene!! I thought the same thing when i would watch it many times years later like...what happened to the beach scene?? I think they made it disappear because it made people afraid to take their families to the beaches..i know i wouldn't take mine after seeing that scene!! lol
There was a scene when McGavin goes to pick up the girl (forgot her name). Her homeboys confront him and key his car, before she comes over and says "he's with me!"
I downloaded the uncut version from the pirate bay. I was so used to the vhs version that l realised there were missing scenes from the DVD version. Another small scene that’s missing is when the cripp swallows the drugs before Penn starts to choke him saying “spit it out”.
One of my all time favorite movies. Mario Lopez had a small role in it. LOVE the Garbage Pail Kids in your room. I still have mine from when I was a kid.
Yes thanks for showing us the then and now locations. I have the VHS extended version of colors wasn’t easy to get but found it on eBay from another country. Colors was definitely a bad ass movie 💯R.I.P. Trinidad Silva 🙏🏻

Thank you so much, I can remember those scenes like it was yesterday. It brought back lots of memories, look where we are today. The 80’s were fun, break dancing and people just having a good old time. Now its a freakin war zone everywhere you turn. GOD Bless you and thanks again!
I grew up in Southeast LA ( Bellflower). Compton was right over the river. And after Colors came out everyone wanted to join a gang start a gang or something. Entertaining movie but counterproductive if you ask me. Great video finding the locations.
Yeah I definitely agree. I think it had both affects. I think it did help to expose some of what was going on, but it also made people want to be part of it. Thank you so much, thank you for watching.
And they say movies don’t influence people. I remember after this came out, kids at school started wearing Raiders caps. And this was in Melbourne Australia.
That was awesome! I remember when this came out I was still living in Chicago and the local news stations were saying that some of the young people that went to see it were seeing rival gang members in the theater. They had to put security and police inside to make sure everyone was safe. Glad I got to see it in the theater when I was a kid. Thanks for the tip on the vhs version. Just grabbed a copy of it off ebay a couple minutes ago.
I grew up in that neighborhood I even attend Belmont HS I remember my dad will always take me there as a kid later in life I realized it was a historical place because a train used to go through there but I also realized a lot of movies were filmed there including my favorite movie of all time, Predator 2.
Well done, great step by step walkthrough on this great classic Esa movie. I lived at the corner of Guirado St and S Fickett St during the 60s when I was a kid, and immediately recognized the neighborhood when I saw this movie at a drive-inn theater in 79. Thanks!
That’s awesome video of colors filming locations I really enjoyed it, My friend West Coast Graffiti did a video on the alley that was seen behind the view of Downtown LA it’s was cool, and do you think you can do the scenes where they filmed Beverly Hills Cop that would be awesome

That MAUI and Sons T-shirt though! Gotta grab on some of that 80's swag! T&C Surf, MAUI and Sons, Local Motion, STUSSY etc. GOOD SH!T! Thanks for helping me in, remembering the memories! The 80's we're better than I gave them credit for at the time!
The VHS & Beta cassettes were the only formats to have the extra 7 minutes. The Laserdisc had the regular theatrical version. I think they used that Laserdisc version for the DVD.
True Story: Colors had came out when I was a year and a half old,I didn't turn two until June of that year. Anyway,my aunt and her boyfriend at the time wanted to see the movie but couldn't because they were both underage. Because of this, my grandmother had to take them and my mother was also curious about the film as well ,so she decided to tag along. Only one problem: They didn't have a babysitter for me,so they ended up taking me as well and to say the least we were the only civilians in the theater, compared to the hundreds of gangmembers that were in the audience. To make a long story short,Colors was one of those movies that stuck with me for the rest of my life and I get giddy every time I watch it.
Plus when Penn picks up Maria and the vatos scratch his car and when his choking a guy saying “spit it out”. You see the guy swallow the drugs before penn forces does that.
Amazing job!!! I always get on Google earth looking for these spots. I still have my Colors soundtrack too! Best ever! My friends and I always do the “this is me pac man” quote too so this was fun to watch! Thank you!
Amazing work getting those shots. As child growing up in the North of the United Kingdom at the time of this release my best friend's older brother let us watch Colors. Coupled with NWA and gang culture, LA seemed like an alien world in what is now mainstream global culture. This took me back...
Brother, thank you for making this video. Colors is one of my favorites. I don’t know how many times I would rewind right as rocket comes out of the house shooting then just staring at Larry before their shoot out. In my opinion, one of the most intense scenes ever shot in a movie. No need to say a word, their faces said it all. Also, the missing footage is on the Blu-ray version added into the movie.
I'm a 70's baby, 80's kid and a 90's teen so I appreciate this a lot. Love Colors and the L.A gang culture of that period. Great vid!

The movie blood in blood out would be interesting to see the filming locations.
He did it a few weeks ago. Check it out. It's great.
One of my all time favorite movies. Mario Lopez had a small role in it. LOVE the Garbage Pail Kids in your room. I still have mine from when I was a kid.
Thank you! Nice! Let me know if you ever want to sell them 🙂
Congratulations from Brazil !! Great video !! I´ve watched in VHS , DVD, BLU RAY................. Great movie !!
Thank you so much!!
Great movie great direction, and great cast. Underappreciated for sure.
I agree. Thank you for watching
Yes thanks for showing us the then and now locations. I have the VHS extended version of colors wasn’t easy to get but found it on eBay from another country. Colors was definitely a bad ass movie 💯R.I.P. Trinidad Silva 🙏🏻
Oh my Lord! I'm so happy I found this channel. Colors is one of my all time favorite films too. Great job showing the different locations where the some of the scenes were filmed!!! How cool is that ty :)
Thank you. I'm happy you found my channel too. I'll actually be re-doing my Colors video in the future. I'm not really happy with this video... plus I found more locations. So the new video will be wayyyy better. Thanks.
Thank you so much, I can remember those scenes like it was yesterday. It brought back lots of memories, look where we are today. The 80’s were fun, break dancing and people just having a good old time. Now its a freakin war zone everywhere you turn. GOD Bless you and thanks again!
Thank you so much I appreciate it
Great content! Not only did you do your homework, your cadence and delivery is what me watch the whole thing from start to finish.
Thank you! I really appreciate that
Great movie, I was a rookie police officer shortly after this came out so it is very near and dear to my heart. Thank you for this!
I was out there when this was filmed. I lived in Jefferson county. I was 8 years old. Rest in Peace to my lil sister 🙏
This is a great movie. I’ve watched it about 3,345,432 times and I’ll watch it again. Thanks for posting
Thank you
I grew up in Southeast LA ( Bellflower).
Thank you for what you do. This brings back so many wonderful memories.
"You f#$%in' with the Sheriff now Oso!" This was awesome bro...thx
“Who is Smokey the bear”
That was awesome! I remember when this came out I was still living in Chicago and the local news stations were saying that some of the young people that went to see it were seeing rival gang members in the theater. They had to put security and police inside to make sure everyone was safe. Glad I got to see it in the theater when I was a kid. Thanks for the tip on the vhs version. Just grabbed a copy of it off ebay a couple minutes ago.
The Belmont tunnel was one of the most used filming locations in LA during the 70s and 80s!
I might have to do a separate video on it. Thanks so much for watching.
@Messenger Tunnel is still there, its blocked off!
I grew up in that neighborhood I even attend Belmont HS I remember my dad will always take me there as a kid later in life I realized it was a historical place because a train used to go through there but I also realized a lot of movies were filmed there including my favorite movie of all time, Predator 2.
@@gilbertgarcia776 Lol @ the sequel.. First Predator was better.
Huell houser did a whole show there
Well done, great step by step walkthrough on this great classic Esa movie.
Awesome, thank you so much for watching. Cool, I've seen some if his videos. And Beverly hills cop... it's on the list. Look for it soon. Thanks again.
I was in High School when movie was filmed......I attended Locke High School in South Central L.A .......BURGER STAND LOCATION WAS FILMED AROUND THE CORNER FROM MI SCHOOL .
You don't know me fool, you just owe me cool" Ice t.
It's the stuff that's "still here" which makes these videos, so magical.
Great footage ! Thanks for taking the time to film all the locations.
Thank you! And thank you for watching, I really appreciate it.
I always felt that Colors was truly a well put together film. Thanks for sharing this, this is awesome. 🤙🏼
I agree. Thank you so much for watching
"Cancel Christmas!"
I was just saying that. This Christmas.
Ya dead
Thanks for making this. One of my favorites growing up
"Hey homes, I'm a fucking visitor!"
"Well now you're a guest. Assume the position."
That was very entertaining. Loved that movie. Thank you for your efforts and time putting this together.
My pleasure. Thank you for watching
I enjoyed the movie when it came out and watched when they filmed it. I was raised on 111th and Broadway. Thanks for the memories

"Rocket don't joke. Rocket don't smoke"

@@CSDonohue11 that's what i was going to say. Lol
That movie was incredible. I admire you for going to Watts to show some of the area where the film was shot. I couldn't do it
In my neighborhood 21St was a real gang Comprised of the A,B,C tracks Kickball team against D track was 22nd st gang Kickball team This movie really played hell in our neighborhood
That MAUI and Sons T-shirt though! Gotta grab on some of that 80's swag! T&C Surf, MAUI and Sons, Local Motion, STUSSY etc. GOOD SH!T! Thanks for helping me in, remembering the memories! The 80's we're better than I gave them credit for at the time!
thank you for the great history
My pleasure. Thank you for watching
Pacman approved! Dope video! Much appreciated Sir! Keep it up! 💥
Thank you so much
The VHS & Beta cassettes were the only formats to have the extra 7 minutes. The Laserdisc had the regular theatrical version. I think they used that Laserdisc version for the DVD.
Then how did l download an uncut version from the pirate bay. Plus it’s DVD quality.
Wow. What an OUTSTANDING Job Again.. Thanks again..Just Great..
Thank you so much
True Story:
Colors had came out when I was a year and a half old,I didn't turn two until June of that year.
Very cool man 👍
Wow this is such an awesome video, Colors is one of my all time favourite movies as well thanks so much for going to all those locations fantastic!
Thank you for watching
I remember the extra footage ... it was a beach scene and a guy got stabbed
I remember that scene. VHS is all there was when I saw it. I remember there was talk about banning it in Chicago theaters when it first ran.
Thanks for the spoiler. lol
Plus when Penn picks up Maria and the vatos scratch his car and when his choking a guy saying “spit it out”. You see the guy swallow the drugs before penn forces does that.
Didn't know there was extra footage. Thanks. 🇬🇧👍
Master job!!! Wow....brings me back back in da dayyyyy!!!
After school Locke High used to eat at the burger stand they apartments now
Amazing job!!! I always get on Google earth looking for these spots. I still have my Colors soundtrack too! Best ever! My friends and I always do the “this is me pac man” quote too so this was fun to watch! Thank you!
Thank you for watching
THIS IS AN AWESOME CHANNEL LOVE THIS 80’s $HIT 💪🏼💯
Thank you so much
Amazing work getting those shots. As child growing up in the North of the United Kingdom at the time of this release my best friend's older brother let us watch Colors. Coupled with NWA and gang culture, LA seemed like an alien world in what is now mainstream global culture. This took me back...
It's funny to think how many thinks have changed, I actually was going to belmont high school when the film was been 🎥 Dam I'm old
Brother, thank you for making this video.
Thank you so much for watching
@@80sLife you’re welcome ✊🏽
Me and my lil brother would re enact that scene w our toy uzis when we was kids lol
w/s South Central Los Angeles in the building !!! but most of that was on the Eastside of South Central and Watts
This was really great. I love this film so much. I also love how you did everything in the exact order of the film.
That VHS version was on tv growing up. The DVD doesn't have the part when the gang member swallowed the drug and the cop started choking him
Thank you so much for watching.
Really no way
And when 21st street stab somebody on the beach.
@@sitdowndogbreath ohhhhh ya .... I ain’t with that banging shit and bam shanks himb
