    If i had to do it over I would recommend:
    1. Discover It
    2. Chase Freedom
    3. Citi Double Cash or Capital One Quicksliver
    4. American Express Blue Cash or Everyday (if you want MR pts)
    5. Chase Sapphire Preferred or Capital One Venture or American Express Green card
    This way you are covered for gas, groceries, & restaurants for 6 months out of the year at 5%.
    And you have 1 travel card.
    And you have both UR or MR pts to build from depending on which eco system you prefer!
    And most importantly, you have a variety of cards from multiple banks, in case you ever experience a shutdown from 1 bank, you won’t have all your eggs in 1 basket! Just my $0.02

      Good strategy and I completely agree. I actually have at least one of those cards in each tier except for number 4. For me, Discover was the first card to give me a substantial credit limit with no annual fee, early in my work life when I still had a fairly limited credit history, which was a huge boost that I’ve always appreciated. I’ve maintained a good relationship with them ever since.

      What are you thoughts on this.
      BofA Cash Rewards
      Discover It Cash Back
      Chase Freedom Flex
      US Bank Cash +
      and I’m undecided on a future travel card

    • @docsays
      @docsays 3 года назад +1

      @@zerajnimegroj3012 - thats a very good cashback set-up. But if you haven't got those yet, i would recomend get the US bank card first, b/c i hear they are very sensitive to new accounts in the prior 12 mths. as for a NO AF travel card, i would recommend:
      Venture One - travel ins, 20k bonus, 1.25% cb
      Marriot Bonvy bold - travel ins, 50k bonus, but hotel pts
      Paypal MC - 2% cb, no foriegn fees, but no travel ins either
      Wells Fargo Propel - 20k bonus, 3x pts, but no travel ins.

    My second card was the Amazon Prime Rewards Card, as someone who will be moving into my own apartment within the year and starting my first year of college 5% back will do me wonders. Also my Discover IT secured card give 4% back on gas stations and restaurants and 2% on everything else within the first year so I have that covered for now. Plus the Prime Card is through Chase so starting early building a relationship with them

    1st in recent history: MattressFirm Syncrony store card (before AskSebby)
    2nd AMEX EveryDay (had a 25K UR point offer and a previous AMEX in my credit history that has been canceled for years) (also started watching AskSebby videos)
    3rd AMEX Delta Gold Card (1 year ago)
    4th Chase Freedom (this is when I started paying attention and understanding Ask Sebby videos) ;)
    5th CSR
    6th Chase World of Hyatt (technically over 5/24, but closed the Syncrony Bank store card 1 week before applying. Took a chance and I won)
    7th AMEX Gold (with a targeted 50K UR point offer)
    Beyond: Hilton Surpass or Aspire (or both), maybe Citi Premier for gas and entertainment spend, eventually Chase IHG (because Holiday Inns are everywhere, Crowne Plazas are nice business hotels, and Intercontinental's-Kimpton's-Regent's can't all be bad)!

    • @jcewata
      @jcewata 4 года назад +1

      Can't go wrong with IHG. I learned about them through Sebby, then stayed at a Kimpton hotel in Seattle randomly and went for the premier card when they announced the 140k bonus. The Hyatt and Hilton cards sound like awesome cards too for the value.

    • @teknav1
      @teknav1 4 года назад +2

      All else being equal...AMEX Platinum card ($550 USD/year) will satisfy all your travel adventure. Global entry fee is around $100 USD/year, it will be credited back to your account. No foreign transaction fee is assessed. Access to worldwide airport lounges and prestigious Centurion lounges. (AMEX really knows how to spoil their members.) Safe travels!

    • @teknav1

      Maurice S Long time Amex Platinum holder and CSR but the hoops for the $200 airline credit, $50 Saks, $15 use or lose it Uber are just annoying to keep track of. Different priority pass memberships, now CSR adding all these other things to keep track of. I really enjoy the $300 travel credit because it’s easy to use and UR points are easy to use.

    I’m one that’s very confused as to gaining that kind of maximized value using transfer partners through chase. Looking at the rates, it looks like transferring points will give you less value than if I were to use my chase sapphire reserve (through the portal with my 50% boost). Would you ever do a walk through on this process?

    I am glad that I found your channel and ones similar to this. I was on the DR plan paying off my credit cards, but something kept telling me that there is a better way to use them. I was never going to close them out (for emergency purposes) but I wasn't planning on opening any additional cards. I started with Discover IT while I was in college. I also financed some things through Apple so I have a synchrony and Barclays card, and I got lasik last year so I have a Care Credit card as well. I don't use these 3 cards so I really only have 1 cc (even though I have 4). I just applied for the CFU to start the points game and I think I'm interested in moving to an Amex card next or the CSP. I'm still trying to pay off my Discover IT so once that balance is zero I'll consider my next card. There's no point in opening a lot of cards if I'm just going to max them out. Sorry this is such a long post, but I appreciate the knowledge I've obtained from your channel!

    Or can you get the IHG premier again and get the SUB while having IHG traveler?

    So say I start off focused on earning and burning UR cards as much as I can before reaching 5/24 - what’s the benefit of starting to actually churn other cards that award something other than UR after setting up a “trifecta”? Does spending on those Chase cards become more or less pointless (no pun)? Is the main concept that you can still transfer to airline/hotel partners for better CPP? Just trying to get a high level understanding here.

    • @AskSebby
      @AskSebby  4 года назад

      YMMV depending on your willingness to get new cards. A ton of people hate the idea of more than x cards.
      There will also be a "end game" state where you'll be out of intro bonuses, where being able to swap in the Chase Trifecta can be helpful (since you can downgrade/upgrade to no annual fee cards within the Chase Trifecta).

    • @ChrissyGutierrez
      @ChrissyGutierrez 4 года назад +3

      I am someone who used to work at a Marriott property. I like that I know what I'm getting and try to stay with them whenever possible. I think it is absolutely still worth getting simply because of the free night. If you generally stay at a Marriott or can make the switch... As long as the room costs more than $95 you have already got your moneys worth. Most of the places I stay are easily $150 - $200+ which more than covers my AF. The points are just a bonus but make sure you are being smart about where you use them.
      I do think the World of Hyatt Card is a bit better but I went for Marriott first because I was already part of their loyalty program and have used them regularly. Hyatt Card is on my short list. Eventually I'd love me and Player 2 to both have both cards.

    • @jcewata
      @jcewata 4 года назад

      I think it does make sense if you are part of a loyalty program with the hotel. I didn't go for the Marriott cards for now because IHG released that huge signup bonus and ironically, I stayed in a IHG hotel recently and capitalized. The Hyatt card makes alot of sense too though, haven't seen any negative reviews of that card.

    • @jcewata
      @jcewata 4 года назад

      I think it depends on what cards your partner and you have and want to go for. Like for example, getting a premium card like the CSR or AMEX plat is 550 apiece but then you can share those perks with your partner paying a smaller amount for an authorized user card. Maybe mix up the issuers that both of you apply for so not just one of you is getting MR or UR points (or apply for a no annual fee card and refer your spouse for more points). It's really based on which issuers you like and the cards they offer.
