I’m doing this and real talk I LOST 10lbs in 2 weeks!!!!! I personally just eat between 12pm-8pm daily. My late night snacking was killing me didn’t realize how stopping made such a huge difference for me
When times get tough I usually quote the scripture, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!" (Philippians 4:13). Since I'm retired its really easy to not eat until after my workout. My husband and I don't usually go to bed until midnight. That means we don't get up until just after 9am at which time we head to the gym and workout until just after noon. Perfect time for me to then have my first meal which is usually a protein shake (Isagenix). The key is not eating after 8pm.

I previously did the 16:8 combined with low carb / "lazy" keto, and I lost 70 pounds in about 2 years. I got pregnant, gained 100 pounds back, and just start 16:8 up again. For those of you skeptical or unsure - try it for a week. Weigh yourself before then weigh yourself at the end. If that works, challenge yourself for a month. Then keep going until you get to where you want to be then thank yourself for just trying it.
I have been doing it a week and see no lbs down but I’m less bloated, retaining less water in my limbs and face, no inflammatory pain, no symptoms of hypoglycemia during fast hours, food seems to be digesting as soon as I eat, like, I can feel it. I have more energy, more mental clarity, less moody. I don’t know why I haven’t lost any lbs, or maybe my issues with insulin resistant was a bigger more urgent battle to fight, but I will keep doing it just because I feel so much better.
My new job since October 2023, which involves walking up to 15km a day in a warehouse, pulling and pushing heavy racks of bottles has helped see a 10kg weight loss so far, arm muscles appearing, thinner legs and the time I go to bed and go to work allows for 16:8 IF perfectly with the shift start time. Eat at midday, small protein snack at 5pm and meal on break at 7pm. The body changes have shifted my mindset and I have discovered your channel. Its quite astounding what a mental shift all this is creating. Thanks for your honest, wonderful videos. ❤
I did intermittent fasting for a while on keto. Keto did help me lose weight but not something I could continue forever for me. The intermittent fasting was easy. I would go to an exercise class at 9 am then for coffee and come home for lunch...and then eat at 4:30 for the last time. Felt great the whole time. I'm at a different point in life though. 62 retired. Your metabolism would require way more than mine ..
Yeah the best window of eating is 10am to 6pm. That's what works best for me. It's not too late or too early. I'm feeling wonderful. This comes from a night binge eater. You will get used to it
You are the real deal Ms. Jo! I just love everything that you share in this space. From fitness to nutrition, to motherhood, to wifeyhood, YOU are definitely rocking it. God Bless you and please keep doing what you are doing, we need people like you especially at such as this.
It’s interesting to see how everyone responds to it. I naturally am not hungry in the morning, so I found IF was a very natural and easy transition for me.

I love intermittent fasting so much, it really works I lost 10kg in 2 1/2months!! I started with 16-8hr fast but I moved on to 20-4hr! Still fasting atm lol, now I’m used to eating only dinner and I don’t really get hungry. MAJOR REMINDER: Always start your day with green tea when fasting, and take lots of water! Hope this helps someone, namaste 🙏 NOTE: The green tea should preferably be a zero calorie one but 0-10 calories is also ok and won’t break your fast. Generally teas, black coffee, with no sugar or milk, cocoa powder won’t brake your fast. The goal is consuming less calories (caloric deficit for weight loss)
Omg 😱 Same here. Started in May with 16/8 and progressed to 20/4. Switched up to OMAD. After some time, switched back to 20/4. Checked my weight yesterday. Now at 82.5kg from 92kg
Started fasting this week, eating from 12 to 8pm & in a caloric deficit. Not going to lie, it’s been hard because I love munching late at night. I’m 4 days in & I’ve lost 2 pounds. Started the month at 151 pounds, goal weight is 130. I’ll come back & update y’all at the end of the month 🤞🏾
@@nealjones84 1 Month Update: overall this month I’ve lost 6 pounds. I’m now at 145. Didn’t quite hit my goal to lose at least 10 pounds for the month but I also was VERY inconsistent. I maybe worked out 3 times a week doing growwithjo videos & I LOOSELY fasted. My eating schedule was from 2pm - 12am most days lol. I tried to stay within 1600 calories but some nights I had an extra glass of wine or extra pieces of candy. Each day I was conscious to not over eat (portion control and over eating were my biggest problems before starting this journey) and I tried to move my body as much as possible. I want to be more strict in September. Im going to work out 5 times a week. Stay below 1600 calories & eat from 2pm - 10pm while I fast from 10pm - 2pm everyday. So that’s an 8 hour eating window and a 16 hour fasted window. I’ll update y’all again at the end of September! Hoping to be between 135-139 by the end of this month.
@@lisev415 as of this morning (8 months in) I’m down 88.8lbs I started with 16:8 and worked my way up. I have been doing ADF (36-42hr fast with a 6-12 re feed day after) 36-42hrs isn’t necessary for weight loss it’s more for internal healing but it’s def worked in my favor. Once you hit 18-20hr fasts thats when real cat burning amps up.
I love Intermittent fasting. I lost all the baby weight at 6months postpartum and I breastfed and still feeding my 1year old son. The trick is u have to establish yr milk supply like she said. I will add that you MUST drink A lot of water and milk (of yr choice). Plus I ate oatmeal almost every day (I love oats and I believe it contributed to maintaining my breastmilk). And yes I also exercise 6 times a week at home.
Nursing already burns so many calories!!! When I was having my babies, I gained 50# and lost 60# well within 6 months, all 3 of my kids, had them at 21, 23 and 30. Now I'm 47 and fat🤣
Yes it is! I’ve always worked out fasted and it slims you up! I love intermittent fasting was 189 and now 153. Trying to get to my goal of 140 just in a weird Plato!
Hey Patrice I just hit 147 I am so happy .. I have been running 🏃♀️ more and longer and have bee. Doing hit workouts.. I have been doing intermittent fasting over 2 years now and I try at most not to eat after 8pm ..
Hey toya, almost 2 years now.. I usually would do the 12 -8pm because of schedule at the hospital. Over the past few months I’ve moved into the earlier time frame since I am going to basic training soon
Love!!! This was very motivating! I do 16:8 but my hours are 10-6 since I typically wake up between 6:30-7am and I’m a breakfast girl. I also noticed my eating tapers around 5pm so those hours are perfect. All that to say if wanna try IF it doesn’t have to be 12-8. As long you fast for 16. You can 10-6/11-7/12-8 etc 💕
Hello I have a question, so can I eat throughout that whole time as long as it’s in the calories intake I’m supposed to have? Or do I only have lunch/breakfast then dinner without any snacks or anything in between? I hope you understand what I’m trying to ask. 😅
@@marlag6636 Hi! Yes so you eat whatever you need during that window. I will be honest and say I no longer practice this because it was not great long-term for my body type or metabolism! now i just eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full, and prioritize fruits and veggies. Still eat rice, potato, etc. and I don't count calories anymore either. Hope this helps!

One month-ish update: I lost 9 pounds! Feeling good with the eating schedule but I haven't been consistent with workouts. Hoping to change that in May! Will update in June! 💕
been doing IF for almost 3 weeks , feeling great so far. trying not to weigh myself just bc i personally feel it messes up my progress / mentality. trying to lose weight before i go on vacation in july , but also just to be overall healthier! will come back to update
I started intermittent fasting 4 years ago and even when i stopped dieting and eating again whatever i wanted my body still was used to fasting i didnot even count anymore everytime i woke up i didnot feel hungry untill like 5 hours or more sometimes. It basically becomes a habit after a while
IF shouldn’t be difficult if you ease into it. Also, he can have breakfast - just move the eating window so he has breakfast and maybe a bigger lunch and remove dinner. Also it IS better to workout in a fasted state (before you eat anything) and is even better if you wait between two and three hours after you workout to eat a really nutrient dense meal.
I used to work night shifts (8PM to 8AM) this shift pattern caused me to eat more, sleep less, and not have a life! Once I changed my shift pattern to days (7:30-8PM) I noticed an incredible change in my food intake. I ate healthy foods, but started snacking late night which was causing me to gain weight! I am now 4 days in to Intermittent Fasting 16:8 and I have lost 3lbs in total. I feel good, i’m not snacking and i’m sleeping well too. So excited to see more results!
This is the best way to live life. I do this and I feel great. Stop eating at 8pm, eat again next day at 12pm. Didn't expect to lose 15 lbs but I did. Plus I lost muscle since this damn corona virus. Have to get back to the gym
Fasting normally for Ramadan is hard but we can't eat OR drink. I always lose 10lbs during this month. My trained brain is like I can't drink with IF..but then I realize I actually can. REAL👏WOMAN👏EAT👏REAL👏FOOD. I love that you work out hard and don't cut out everything, like hell yeah have some prosecco at brunch/lunch. Eat as much as you feel like eating but being conscientious of how you're feeling while eating. I have a hard time relating to people who just eat greens, only drink "healthy" drinks and just come off a kind of holier than thou. Nothing against vegetarians or vegans, it's more so that general attitude that seems to come with it for some people. I personally do a few months a year where my hubbie and I eat vegetarian or vegan. I like moderation and not going to any extreme
I’m seeing this super late, but you are right. I tried to change everything at once. I jumped right into walk your 3-5 mile workouts and then started 18:6 fasting 1 week later. I was under the impression that I had to eat a ton of protein in the 8 hour window then got discouraged because I only lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks and started feeling sluggish after eating a lot of protein. I realized my electrolytes were off, so I drink some 0 sugar vitamin water & that helped. But, my stomach has definitely gotten smaller and my clothes fit much nicer. So, I’m doing something right. I’m going to loose some of the protein & stick with exercise and fasting because it feels good. I’m so glad I found you!
I started intermittent fasting on nov 25 after I turned 40. I need to lose weight. So I started IF it was hard but you definitely can do it. I was 135 lbs. Now I'm 122 lbs in just 25 days. Thanks to growwithjo for her morning workout. I'm looking forward to a more healthy lifestyle.

If we workout in the 5 or 6 am early morning and 6:30-7 pm before our last meal at 8pm. it gives the body a boost when it comes time for digestion process and is a great help for getting a good night sleep 🛏 💤 😴. What do you think 🤔? If you continue with the same thing you eat and don’t change anything you eat then do intermittent fasted you will gradually lose weight. however if you put intermittent fasted and exercise together however you are still eating 🍽 the same things you will see faster changes in your body weight. If you intermittent fasted, exercise 2 times a day and change out two meals for two large salad 🥗 or smoothies because you need the fiber and protein. This will allow the body to get rid of the weight even faster. However the catch is that we MUST BE CONSISTENT until we reach our desired weight goal or health goal. You just have to choose what’s best for you!
breakfast just means breaking a fast. No such thing as "breakfast". So whenever your first meal of the day is whether it's 8:00 am or 8:00 pm that is "breakfast". Empty stomach workout trains your body to store more fat because it has to continually use fat reserves to give you energy for your workout. Thanks for the video.

I hollered when your husband said that he ended the count down with “In Jesus Name”😂😂😂😂 If he’s hungry in the morning, or can’t wait til an evening window, my eating window is 6am-10am, and I love that split for my lifestyle. Maybe he could try an earlier fed window?
Breakfast, is just breaking a fast. You can do that whatever time if the day you like, with whatever food you like! I usually break fast at about 2 or 3pm with two steak burgers and two whole eggs with plenty of butter!
I just started intermittent fasting this week week. I’m currently 173 I’m 5’3ft my goal weight is 135-140. I basically eat what I want,I try to eat clean, but I am going to start my workouts and a new grocery list!

My goal is to get from 83 to 75 inshaAllah. Do keep in mind though, im doing intermittent fasting basically everyday and religious fasting (no water or anything else allowed to be consumed from sunrise to sunset) every Monday and Thursday so the hours for my religious fasting may be a little bit longer than the regular days with limited consumption. Day 1: 83 Day 2: 82
I tried keto for a month and it was super hard i didnt lose anything... So being that it made me super discouraged i decided that the new month i was gonna start intermittent fasting. First week was so hard but i took your advice about taking it day by day pushing it each day one hour till i got to 12:30 so far ive lost 6 pounds and im super proud of that haha... Yes, plateaus can be gaining muscles. Muscles help burn more fat, and it weighs more than fat. So don’t look at the scale look at inches and take pics of you body. Also, for me I have PCOS, and keto or paleo diet is highly recommend, and so is intermittent fasting. So you can do both. It’s also recommended to do two workouts a day (Cardio plus HIIT).
really needed this! my big sister is having her wedding in 2 months and im on her bridal train, plus my oldest sister wants to have a beach trip with me sometime in the next few weeks. many things i wanna slim down on, even if its just a little! 😳 ill be starting intermittent fasting tomorrow! (6/13/21) quick 4 day update: its crazy how in four days i already see such a difference in my body. my waist is much slimmer and all around the belly fat has gone down so much, literally within the 2nd day i saw a huge difference & was so shocked. i try to eat healthy & do leg/calves/thighs, arm, and abs exercises. haven’t checked my weight yet because i only do so every wednesday (so theres no comparison to be made yet). all around so happy & excited. i knew i did the toning exercises / had a good figure but wouldn’t see the effect unless i reduced the fat around it. excited 💕
When I first did IF in the beginning of 2019 I lost 5 lbs in 3 days without doing anything but fasting in my 16/8 window!! But now I have started AGAIN to do IF in the beginning of 2022 (specifically the 10th of Jan) and haven't really seen changes but imma keep going. Initially I did it for Jesus but I kept going for health. Albeit I don't really follow the 16/8 window, yesterday did the 17/7 window, the day before I fasted 15/9 so there's that!
I have been doing 20:4 fasting after doing 16:8 for a while which really didn't help me lose weight since, honestly I am not a huge breakfast person so I really didn't change too much, but felt like I was. Lol! Learned to like black coffee which was huge to me though during 16:8. I planned to do OMAD but when I started I felt like there was no way I could do that. After two weeks I just naturally started doing a mostly OMAD. For me doing 20:4 makes me so much more mindful and purposeful about what I eat. I know that I need to fuel myself and eating has become less of a struggle of "I want to eat xyz because I am craving it" and more of "I need to make sure I have nutrient dense foods to feed myself or fuel myself for the next 20 hours". I have been doing low carb/high fat or what most people would consider keto but only because I have PCOS and keto is really the only thing that helps with insulin resistance and helping to fix my crazy hormones! Lol! Edit to say: so far I have lost 13 lbs in the past 4 weeks of 20:4 fasting. I have a total of 70 ish lbs to lose so seeing the number for down is quite motivating. Planning to add some of your workouts this month!
@@Juliewhite296 It is fasting for 20 hours out of the day and then eating within a 4 hour window. I also will sometimes snack on nuts/seeds during my feasting window as well.

Thank you for sharing these great tips. I have been intermittent fasting for a while, and didn't even realize it. I'm often busy in the morning hours, and I don't have a chance to eat until the afternoon. I also agree with not counting calories. I just try to make good food choices. And I treat myself to a treat here and there, so that I don't start to crave and binge high calorie snacks. Moderation for me is key.😋

It works for me as well, but I prefer to eat 9-5 :)
I usually not eat after 7pm! and I feel so much better
Love that Bible Scripture 💞

Then keep going until you get to where you want to be then thank yourself for just trying it.
the more you restrict, the harder the weight will come off

When u first start fasting it may be difficult BUT it definitely gets better and then u start feeling great 👍🏽

It’s interesting to see how everyone responds to it. I naturally am not hungry in the morning, so I found IF was a very natural and easy transition for me.
It's the same for me! I'm not hungry till 11-12 in the morning

Hope this helps someone, namaste 🙏
NOTE: The green tea should preferably be a zero calorie one but 0-10 calories is also ok and won’t break your fast.
Generally teas, black coffee, with no sugar or milk, cocoa powder won’t brake your fast. The goal is consuming less calories (caloric deficit for weight loss)
Really??!! That’s amazing!! Thanks for the advice😊
Hanakyo Lover mi pleasure 🙏
Omg 😱 Same here. Started in May with 16/8 and progressed to 20/4. Switched up to OMAD. After some time, switched back to 20/4. Checked my weight yesterday. Now at 82.5kg from 92kg

Hi any update
One of the reasons I watch her is because I like looking at her face. She's so pretty! ☺

Whats your ratio? 16/8?
@@lisev415 as of this morning (8 months in) I’m down 88.8lbs
I started with 16:8 and worked my way up.

Hey toya, almost 2 years now.. I usually would do the 12 -8pm because of schedule at the hospital. Over the past few months I’ve moved into the earlier time frame since I am going to basic training soon
@@ashleymoore2293 thank you so much for responding ❤ I'm definitely going to try!
That's what I love about IF. You can tailor it towards what works best for you 🌟
Yes I like to eat around 10am also so I try to stop eating around 6pm. My problem is staying consistent.

@@CozyCloudASMR Hey! I’m starting this tmrw! I’ll come back in 6 months 💛💛 starting weight 233 (just had my 3rd and final baby) goal weight 125 !
I lost 30 pounds in 25 days I eat from 1PM to 6PM. It works, I cut out wine with dinner and cut back on the carbs.

I work overnights as well. The best time for ME is while I’m working. I’m not thinking about eating. It’s a rush knowing while I’m working, I’m fasting and burning fat cells. I go home each morning lighter than the day before.

I like moderation and not going to any extreme
um the “real woman eat real food” was unnecessary and kinda misogynistic

I’ve been intermittent fasting for 3 years as of last month. I don’t even notice I’m doing it anymore. It certainly keeps my weight in check.

I am so proud of you Wren! You got this!
I love IF and Keto. It’s saving my life.
breakfast just means breaking a fast. No such thing as "breakfast". So whenever your first meal of the day is whether it's 8:00 am or 8:00 pm that is "breakfast". Empty stomach workout trains your body to store more fat because it has to continually use fat reserves to give you energy for your workout. Thanks for the video.

What is 20:4 fasting?
@@Juliewhite296 It is fasting for 20 hours out of the day and then eating within a 4 hour window. For me that looks like starting my "feasting window", or the 4 hours, with a protein iced coffee at around 2:30-3 pm and then eating dinner with my family by 6:30-7. I also will sometimes snack on nuts/seeds during my feasting window as well.
@@ashleytaffer2336 any updates?
I'm playing on doing this along with 30 minutes of cardio plus a calorie cut to try and lose 15lbs in 7 weeks.
Did it work?
Yes working out while fasting is like an extra boost to your results. Especially if your trying to build muscle. This occurs best with the 8/16.
shut up satanist
I found your intermittent fasting video SO helpful. I see the results on my body, particularly my tummy. I tried your method and discovered that I could go without eating up until 11.30 - 11.45am. My goal is to reach up to 12.12.30pm. Jo, you offer fresh, fun new ideas to help. I have also discovered the La Croix drink as well. You offer geniune heart warmimg advice.
Yesss La Croix is amazing I am so happy you are benefitting form these changes!

Oh my goodness your son is so adorable I just love him!
Thankyou!
So right babe moderation is key!
I found IF to be easy once I got adjusted. I realized that I needed an earlier eating window though and didn't miss dinner.
I've been fasting this whole time and I didn't even know😂 No wonder I be sweating the pounds off lol I just call it "starving" myself
Your baby so cute :(
Lol when you said 32 degrees I cracked up. Lol I was like o yea she is Canadian lol 😂

I have hyperglycemia and before knowing that, i tried fasting and I was fainting so i guess is not for everyone. So don't worry if you cannot do it keep good and healthy food:) You are really amazing inspiration Jo!
