My clutch lever has no pressure either way. The cable is intact. I took the transmission cover off seems fine. I shifted from stop without and it did a burnout so trans seems fine. Does this sound like the same problem? I did add a heavy duty clutch spring a few thousand miles ago.

I know you said the cable is intact, but please double check that it didn't brake mid cable... disconnect cable from the lever and pull the cable by hand is easiest way. Then adjust the cable. Many if not most.. the clutch cable has two adjustments. Thanks for your question.... I hope this moves you forward.

I wonder if this happened to me. Would you have an email I can send you a video on regarding my 2005 Sportster. I’m new to Harley and turned on bike. Shifted from neutral to 1st and was going to take off and heard the gnarliest crunching sound. Needless to say, turned off bike immediately and pushed it with my dad to the garage (that was hard as well!).

Gonna depend how deep the trouble is. It's a couple hours in labor if all goes well

You would think HD would do a recall for that kind of drivability and damage causing mechanical issue,, :( ,, Shame On HD ! Shame !!

@Vernon Yes, HD should have recalled the bikes with the "grenade plate" but the "cynic" in me thinks that the flaw is there by design. If you're not a dyi er, then what happens? And I'm not certain about how long we/"they" have been aware of this problem, it appears like years to me. Plenty of time to retool that problem and have a reliable steel plate in there, just like the aftermarket upgrades have. Timewise, something like the next model year after the first one blew up! Just sayin'...

@@xldh44 Yeah, I bought my Sportster used with about 16k miles on it, and when I heard about this issue, I checked my clutch not being sure what to find, my clutch pack was factory with the grenade plate, it was in good condition, I changed it out anyway with a Barnette Extra plate Kit while I had it apart, I'm a DIY'er and can't afford the stealer prices and BS.

@@vernon8337 Are you happy with the "Barnett Extra Plate Clutch Kit"?
I've got 28,000 miles on the stock clutch and feels like I have dodged a bullet. I've had no problems but am concerned it needs to be addressed immediately. Does the extra plate clutch feel like the original?
