Thanks Yonatan, good point. Note the swimmers demonstrating the streamline off the wall with arms outstretched above their heads, upper arms tucked in nicely around the head rather than 'flailing' for balance as you highlight. By emphasising the streamlined position off the wall (on the back) this encourages the swimmer to utilise the arms purposefully to lead them out of the turn! Thanks and enjoy :)

Hi and thank you for highlighting the importance of streamlining from turns. The tutorial is designed to help learn the tumble turn optimally and avoid the common issue we see in self-taught swimmers of twisting during the turn from the wall. Many swimmers who already practice streamlining effectively as part of their training, intuitively use an effective arm movement leading them from the wall. Stephanie demonstrates this nicely in her second forward roll as she picks up the freestyle stroke.

That's a good point and one of the most common errors when swimmers start out. I get swimmers to do the mid-pool turn but keep their hands in the same position as they flip, so it's only their body flipping over.

Thank you for posting this. I am going to practice this in stages as you suggest.

Have one little problem with the initial forward roll drill - from my experience one of the key problems associated with Tumble turns is the "flailing" of hands as the swimmer executes the turn (rather then leaving them behind). It would seem to me that this drill may encourage that? Would like to know your opinion on this Fiona
