Thanks for the video. For those of you wondering, like I was, if this can be replaced with the window in the "up" position, the answer is absolutely yes! I just replaced mine the other day with the window up. Took about 10 minutes including cleaning the grime underneath the old one. I used a plastic trim removal tool, the kind of 'V' shaped type, to slip under the old trim piece and just push up on it along the length of the piece. The old one will just pop off this way. One of the white clips did stay attached to the vehicle but it was easy enough to pry off. Then simply line up the white clips/tabs with the holes between the metal and the window, make sure they're all tucked behind the metal part (and make very sure that the ends of the new trim piece are pushed behind the left and right vertical trim pieces, not in front of them) and work the trim piece evenly down until the clips all click into place. Push down along the length to make sure they're all fully seated (like Justin explained), and you're done! Wish I would have done this years ago to prevent all the water (and salt!) that have dripped down into the hatch and rusted everything out including the entire window mechanism which is why I can no longer put the window down!
One of the best features of a Toyota Sequoia, the sliding rear window. Just dont slam door down when the window is down. I learned the hard way. Thanks, I am on same 5 trim project.
Just ordered from Toyota $59.90 plus tax. Thanks for the video! Great job! Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total 68290-0C010 Weatherstrip | Back Door Glass Outer | 2001-2007 Sequoia $59.90
Good tip about the weatherstripping protecting the latch! You can also role down the rear window buy putting your key in the rear hatch and turning it to the right.
I just tried it and it worked. That's pretty neat! Mine goes down turning to the left and back up if you turn it the other way. They really did think of everything.
I worked on the A-Pillar and B-Pillar of this vehicle. :) I remember having test parts that had to be driven up to Toyota (Indiana/Kentucky) for them to test fit on their first 'test' vehicles.
You all did a great job then because everything still fits great! I was just noticing earlier today how the tail lights line up within about a millimeter on the tailgate and the body. There are brand new cars that don't achieve that level of fitment.
Thank you for that. Rocco passed away not long after I made this video. I'm happy I made the choice to leave his part in the video especially since it ended up being some of the last footage of him. He was a good boy.
anyone have anything for when the rear window rolls itself down when cutting the engine off. when the vehicle is on, u can hear the door locks working themselves also
Water is getting into the liftgate lock cylinder/switch. Same thing happened to mine. I unplugged the switch and no more problems. You can't roll down the window or lock/unlock the liftgate from that switch anymore but I prefer that problem to the unexpected and uncommanded window roll-down and locks acting up. You have to remove the interior liftgate trim and the little access panel and then you can unplug the switch.
If you were really careful prying the old one off, I think you could get the new one on okay. Maybe try wrapping some needle nose pliers in electrical tape to prevent scratching the window and then slowly pull the old trim piece up. I'm not 100% sure about it going back on though. Wouldn't want you to get stuck with the piece removed.
Thank you for showing us how to do this. Saves a trip to the dealer!
Glad it came in handy!

The aftermarket side belt moldings are now available online.
Very helpful, thanks!
Thank you for the video and the information.
Great job. I have a 2004 Toyota Tundra double cab and was wondering how to find the part for mine. The window goes down just like on your Sequoia.
Thank you! I hope this helped you. Hold on to that Tundra!
the other side of the rear window glass, how to put it back?
mime got come out, and I don't know how to put it back properly.
Thanks
Anyone know part numbers for the rest of the weather stripping to complete around the entire rear hatch window??
Thanks for the tips!
I love Rocco.

Hey bud, is that the oem replacement or and aftermarket piece?
I bought it directly from the dealership. I just updated the description with the price and part number.
cut resistant gloves? would be safer
Do you think it’s still possible without rolling the window down? Having the leaking issue but motor isn’t working right now
