Great video. I was planning to upgrade mine. I’m not sure if your tundra comes with it, but you didn’t mention the bulb that lights up the driver’s floor. It’s located about 4 inches southeast of the fuse box. It’s attached to a silver bracket with the bulb pointed to the front of the car. Mine is a 04 crew cab SR5
Hey, great video. I recently started doing upgrades to my 2002 Toyota Tundra and this is my second project. However, I'm writing to inquire about the huge LCD I saw in the video. How difficult was that to install? What brand is it?
I just completed my LED swap with all the items you listed and followed your detailed explanation. Have had my pristine 03 for the last 5 years and this mod is one of my favorites. At only 67k miles and many more to go 🤙
I was literally about to convert my truck to LEDS and had like 4 different videos in my watch later in order to do it. This video has the information of all 4 combined and is even more thorough. Perfect!
Good job on the video, I liked the fact that you showed how to remove the covers without breaking them., oh yes and pointing out the hidden screws, really helpful. Thanks.
I have put this off for so long. I now have a dark dash, it’s crazy what you get used to. I will be installing some new lights as soon as they come in. Great job thanks!
Try layering colored transparent tape on the bulb-side of the light covers. Itll help dim and bring back some original colors the white LEDs drown out. For the dome light, add tinted clear tape.
Thank you for the video - informative and clear and easy to follow. I replaced all of my lights with LEDs, and now I can control the HVAC stuff at night without having to turn on the map lights. Thanks!!
I also did the courtesy light at the driver side footwell, ‘cigarette lighter’, and ash tray. The glove box light is an easy swap by just dropping the box and liner. Not any harder than anything else shown.
Gotcha, thanks for the heads up. I did the drivers footwell one and someone else gave a tip of using a small rubber hose to pull the light out of the glovebox so you don't have to remove it. Thanks for watching! - Sal
This video is exactly what i was looking for and you combined everything into one. Great work on this, i plan to upgrade at least my map/dome/door lights soon and I’ll update how it went!
That's awesome, congrats on the new truck! And I appreciate that, I'm just trying to give back to the awesome RUclips community I've learned so much from! Thanks for watching - Sal
Literally was searching your channel last night to see if you had done this. My LEDS just came in today. Just got a 2001 SR5 Tundra. Thanks Sal for all the videos, you have made this car a lot more fun and easy to work on.
I had excellent luck with this video, going through step by step. I had good luck with all the gear indicator lights too - used the LEDs and with the exception of having to reverse "R", "N", "2", everything was all good. I used a small flathead screwdriver to unscrew those lights and that worked well. Had an angle pair of tweezers as well. Lighting is nice and bright. Thank you very much for an EXCELLENT video. I didn't touch any of the warning lights, but did notice that I have 4H and 4L "lights" in there even though I have a 2WD vehicle. So there are at least 2 extra standard bulbs in there for me. Cheers!
This channel needs more attention. Just swapped out the taillights and replaced the fixtures and made all of the bulbs LED. Next project is fixing that damn lazy seatbelt. About to use your video as a guide for this.
I appreciate that, my seatbelt came out pretty good. If you can remove it and pressure wash it, that's probably your best bet. Soaking worked well but the pressure washer made them look like new lol thanks for watching - Sal
@@JDMDriveway seatbelt is now snapping back thanks to your other video! One additional step I found from another video- I sprayed some silicone lubricant on the belt, which seemed to help with the retraction speed.
Great Video Sal. By far one of the best upgrades I've done to mine. It totally updates the feel of the truck inside. Don't forget the cargo and reverse lights, along with the one in the driver side footwell (Toyota didn't put one in the passenger side footwell). Those make a huge difference too. Thanks for the great content!
I've been reminded about the footwell light by a few folks now, and I didn't even know it was a thing lol Mine has been burned out since I got the truck. Cargo and backup lights are great to do too! Thanks for watching! - Sal
I just did my glove box light and foot well light. I struggled as well with the glove box light fixture removal. The cage like fixture will pry out with a flat head screwdriver. It takes a bit of force. Once removed press in a little tab on the fixture cage that opens up the cage face to get the bulb out. I used needle nose pliers to very gently pull the T5 bulb out. Thanks for the video.
Terrific video! Thanks a lot! Just finished changing mine out. Took about an hour, took my time with it so as to not break anything. Had my IPad in my truck with me. Makes a BIG difference.
Nicee the white looks good! I did this to mine as well but blue dash lights and door lights I get a lot of compliments on it totally changed the feel of the truck feels way more modernized .
There is one at your left foot just above the parking brake , Mine was burned out and was nice to have it working again Comes on when you open the door and Lights up the foot well, I remember the one in the glove box was a pain, I had to remove the lower piece to the glove box to get access to swap mine, Same issue I had with the dome lights which were too short for me too, Nice video, Thanks for sharing,
Thanks for letting me know about the foot light one! I had no idea it was a thing because mine has always been burned out haha thank you for watching - Sal
Pro tip-No one should mess with changing the lower light bulbs-like the check engine lights, or the gas light etc. if you put LED’s in those slots, they will always stay on, whether you’re low on gas or not. So just stick with the OEM bulbs for that bottom row of the gauge cluster.
Dude that's awesome! I've honestly been waiting for a subscriber to recognize the truck at some point and it totally made my day. Hope the new truck is treating you well! - Sal
Thanks for the great video! The only snag I had was I used an OEM bulb for the drive light and it’s dim. I swapped it with the L light and it was still dim. I attempted to clean the inside with a q-tip and lens cleaner but still dim. But at least it works and the rest of the cluster is bright thanks to the LEDs. Thanks again for the video and product links.
My drive bulb is dim too, and I'm not sure why it would be like that. I thought maybe it was a poor connection with the contacts but it didn't look worn or corroded or anything. Thanks for watching!
I just last night replaced a few of my center dash lights. Tried using the green condoms on them but I tore one. So I just went white. It looks so much better and brighter! Going to pick up a bunch more bulbs today and do my instrument cluster next! As well as the last couple bulbs in the center dash as Walmart didn’t have all the bulbs I needed lol. Edit: I got my ordered bulbs in and finished replacing them. Replaced all lights aside from the gas and airbag lights. And the drive indicators. It looks amazing now! I love it!
Hey Sal I am your newest sub. Man I love the way you work. Thank you for the awesome Tundra content you are sharing with us. I will be a long time sub. Keep 'em coming brother.
Great video as usual, I did my led conversation a couple years ago but I’m not happy with the quality of the led’s. Thank you for posting the link. Keep that first Gen rocking🤘
Another great video. I am sold and will be ordering my LED's next payday. Perfect timing since I will be installing the same radio you did I will do it all at once.. Big fan
Thanks for the vid! I have an 06, and changed out some of the interior lights. I was thinking about doing the dash cluster but not excited about soldered connections that you mentioned. I like the brightness that you have on your dash vs the very dim green OEM style I am stuck with! Truck on!!
Yeah it's a bummer that the newer trucks have them soldered in. I think you could replace it with a sequoia cluster which should modernize it a bit. I haven't looked into it too much but I think it's plug and play. Thanks for watching! - Sal
7:51 be careful touching the light with anything metal. I was popping out my rear interior light bulb with a flat head when it sparked and blew a fuse. None of the interior lights worked and I couldn’t lock my pickup with the key fob because it would make that ringing sound whenever you try to lock it with a door open. Thankfully I had a couple extra fuses on me.
Funny, the "Drive" bulb on my transmission indicator is out too. Will need to replace. I replaced the push button map lights just above the windshield on the roof. Those original bulb were pathetic. And I replaced the bulbs in the doors. On the doors and map light I replaced them with LED bulbs, but only got what I thought was marginal improvement.
for the 2005-2006 double cab, the map lights use two t10s and the dome lights use two t10s and a 36mm festoon. No 31mm festoon for these as far as I can tell
dude I put led in my dash and I never could figure out why some bulbs worked and some didn't. I couldn't find anything about the polarity of them. thanks for the knowledge. I have some more ordered to finish it
Hmm, I doubt that it would be a simple swap with all the connectors lining up and stuff. Plus it may introduce some sketchy stuff with the odometer not accurately matching the truck. Not saying its out of the picture, but it probably isn't plug and play. Thanks for watching!
Thank you, great information. Which media player is that you installed? I've been looking but I'm suffering from TMI overload without getting "the" answer. Please let me know.
Looks great! So glad I found your channel. I recently bought a gen 1 Tundra and am loving it and want to give it some TLC. Have you thought about replacing your headlights with the new C Led headlights?
Sweet, congrats on the new truck! I've seen those headlights, but I haven't really considered getting them because I prefer the OEM+ look. Seems like a good number of people have picked them up tho! Thanks for watching - Sal
Bummer, I'm sorry to hear that. I linked exactly what I used so I'm not sure what got swapped around on that. Thanks for the heads up, and Thanks for watching!
If the dome light is too bright, or any of the other LED replacement bulbs are just too bright, I wonder if there's some kind of adhesive neutral tint that you could cut and stick around the bulb itself to reduce the brightness?
That's a good idea and I haven't really looked into it, but I've gotta assume that people have tried it before. I'd be interested in it myself because I do think the dome light is a bit bright. Thanks for watching!
Guys, if you have an 05 sequoia, do not attempt to change the gage lights. The man is right, I took mine apart to see if I can even replace 4 or 5 lights, but found no lights period, they are soldered in. If you decide to remove it, it’s a lot of pain to put it back, but you can change the climate AC lights, there are about 11 of them including the rear air.
I actually love the look of the green lights, it's very nostalgic. Is there a way to upgrade to the LEDs but keep that coloring? Or can I still get the old lights somewhere? Cuz most of mine are burnt out and need replacing anyways.
Any ideas on why the hvac control lights aren’t working in my tundra…. I just bought the bulbs today for the ac control knobs and they’re not working😢 I’ve flipped them several times aswell
That's really frustrating. Unfortunately you may have gotten a bad batch. If flipping the polarity didn't work then I'm not sure how to troubleshoot anymore. Thanks for watching
Thank you for all your videos. I'm restoring a 2002 Tundra Limited and your information has been incredibly helpful. I am finishing the LED upgrade and it has gone smoothly except for the polarity of the LED bulbs. Everything is installed but there are a few I haven't been able to get to light even after switching polarity and don't know what they are or how to test them. I've been looking for a diagram to no avail. Any suggestions?
Ah bummer thats frustrating. If swapping the polarity didn't work for you, there's a chance that the bulb is just faulty? Is it all one type of bulb? I'd maybe recommend swapping them around to see if it's an issue with the bulb or the cluster. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching!
Yeah I don't see why not. I haven't tried it myself, but as far as I understand it's really just the gauge cluster that's "off limits". Thanks for watching!
I’ve bought a few different t10 bulbs and when I try to change the ones in the HVAC, none of them work. I’ve tried flipping the lights to change polarity and they still don’t work. Halogens work fine but not the t10s. Any advice ?
sal great video. i have learned a lot from you. thank you!!! i swapped my bulbs to green first on the dash but too green. i ended up going back to white. I think I lowered the lower kick panel more than I really had to and I ended up breaking the mounting brackets on the small dash piece that holds the cluster brightness knob and my heated mirror button (which I didn't know I really had lol) I ended up having to take the cluster out again because I didn't realize that I didn't have one of the bulbs seated correctly, and i wanted to switch them from green to white. the second time around I now have a gap where the kick panel meets the dash. do you happen to have any idea why I have a gap; do I not have something seated properly? if you are in the drivers seat are there tabs on the lower left edge kick panel or plastic "colums" just there as a guide when you slide the lower kick panel in? If there are tabs with lips on the edge then I am pretty sure the lip edge broke when dropping the panel. any help would be much appreciated.
Sorry for the super delayed response!Hmm, I haven't had that panel off in a while so I forget what exactly it looks like and what could be jammed up or preventing it from sitting flush. I would recommend just taking your time going around the whole panel and looking for where it feels like it's binding up the most and investigating more. Sorry I don't have a better answer, but thanks for watching!
I have a 2006 Tundra and while doing the LED lights upgrade at some point the digital clock display went dark, I’ll be troubleshooting today and will report back. I’m thinking one of the LEDs is interfering with it or a blown fuse
If you put green leds will it look more like the green glow the tundra comes with as they have the green film on the original bulbs? I’d be interested to see what that looks like. Haven’t seen anyone use green yet. I have an 06 crew cab so I guess I wouldn’t be able to do the gauge cluster so easily which sucks but thanks for the heads up!
I think they're way smaller than that, some sort of specialty bulb, and I'm not exactly sure how you swap them. Sorry I'm not of more help there. Thanks for watching!
there is a "footwell" bulb on the driver side below/behind the dash - seems to shine down on the gas/break when door is opened (I think this is what triggers it, but mine doesn't work apparently). did you notice this one? i can't seem to get mine out.
Yep, someone pointed that out to me and I replaced it. It definitely took some finagling to get the bulb out, but it was a size T-5 and definitely did a good job lighting up the footwell with the door open. Especially considering the old bulb was burned out 😂 thanks for watching!
Just upgraded mine and the check engine light came on after any ideas of what might of happened? Gonna open it up again and make sure everything is dialed in
Dang, that's weird. I wonder if you replaced those warning lights with LEDs too that maybe its confusing something back there. I only did the backlights and haven't had any issues. Hope its an easy fix, and thanks for watching!

I have a 2005 Tundra CrewCab 4WD. What headlight bulb would you recommend; I need something brighter, but not so bright that oncoming vehicles will be flashing their lights at me. Thank you.
I still recommend the CO Light LED projectors. I made a video about them linked below. They are different than other LED bulbs because they make a cutoff for the light and I have never gotten flashed by an oncoming driver. Thanks for watching! ruclips.net/video/vDi-fIp0jkw/видео.html

Great to hear, thanks for watching!
Great video. Great instructions and details. You’re a stud! Keep posting.
Thanks George!
for the 2005-2006 double cab, the map lights use two t10s and the dome lights use two t10s and a 36mm festoon. No 31mm festoon for these as far as I can tell
Gotcha, thank you for the heads up. I didn't have access to a double cab to get the details on those trucks. Thanks for watching!
On both tundras I've had, on the map lights I remove the metal piece from the passenger but leave it on the driver side.
That sounds like a good game plan. Probably just the right amount of light. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for creating this. I ordered through your links.
I really appreciate that! And thank you for watching!
Thanks for your help ! Much appreciated !
Absolutely, thanks for watching!
dude I put led in my dash and I never could figure out why some bulbs worked and some didn't. I couldn't find anything about the polarity of them. thanks for the knowledge. I have some more ordered to finish it
Haha yeah simple thing that could trip you up if you're not aware. Thanks for watching - Sal
Is it possible to swap out the 05-06 cluster for an older one to do the LED swap? Or are the clusters ‘tied’ to the vehicle?
Hmm, I doubt that it would be a simple swap with all the connectors lining up and stuff. Plus it may introduce some sketchy stuff with the odometer not accurately matching the truck. Not saying its out of the picture, but it probably isn't plug and play. Thanks for watching!
Awesome Video! Great breakdown of everything, Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this video, it was a huge help!
Appreciate your channel. Great info, love these trucks.
Thanks for watching! - Sal
On my list to do. Thank you for the video.
Definitely a good upgrade! Thanks for watching - Sal
The link to the Map Lights are the small bulbs vs. the longer correct bulb. fyi I just ordered some and they are small.
Bummer, I'm sorry to hear that. I linked exactly what I used so I'm not sure what got swapped around on that. Thanks for the heads up, and Thanks for watching!
Awesome!👌 Another great installment bro.
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching - Sal
Thanks for confirming! I haven't had a chance to really check out a sequoia, so I could only assume it's the same as the DC. Thanks for watching
Have you changed out the vanity lights? If so, advice please.
NICE AND TO-THE-POINT!
That's the goal, thanks for watching!
On a 2005 Toyota tundra is it possible to change just the map lights and dome light?
Yeah I don't see why not. I haven't tried it myself, but as far as I understand it's really just the gauge cluster that's "off limits". Thanks for watching!
I’ve bought a few different t10 bulbs and when I try to change the ones in the HVAC, none of them work. I’ve tried flipping the lights to change polarity and they still don’t work. Halogens work fine but not the t10s. Any advice ?
Would you know why the footwell light and the key ring light will only turn on when it touches metal
That's weird, sounds like some sort of grounding issue. Hope you can get it figured out
Does anybody have problems with the rheostat dimmer after this? Mine doesn't have any effect. Not dimming them, just always max.
sal great video. i have learned a lot from you. thank you!!! i swapped my bulbs to green first on the dash but too green. i ended up going back to white.
Hello, I have a 2002 Toyota Tundra, my digital clock doesn’t light up! I checked the fuses ok , does the T5 small light, illuminate the clock?? Thanks
I have a 2006 Tundra and while doing the LED lights upgrade at some point the digital clock display went dark, I’ll be troubleshooting today and will report back. I’m thinking one of the LEDs is interfering with it or a blown fuse
Great video Sal thank you!
Thanks for watching! - Sal
Yeah I'd be worried that the green LED is too green if that makes sense, not a soft green like the stock ones. Thanks for watching!
The bulbs for the Cargo light button, 4Hi/4Lo button, etc. Those are T5 ?
How do you dim the gauges?
Where i can get those floor mats?
Just upgraded mine and the check engine light came on after any ideas of what might of happened? Gonna open it up again and make sure everything is dialed in
Dang, that's weird. I wonder if you replaced those warning lights with LEDs too that maybe its confusing something back there. I only did the backlights and haven't had any issues. Hope its an easy fix, and thanks for watching!
Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
How did you put the stereo in? I have a2003 with tape 📼 deck.and what kind did you use.
It's an ATOTO F7 XE, and I installed it using a video from 208Tyler. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for the great video!
Thanks for watching!
What about the LED temperature? I have heard and read stories of them overheating and melting
I haven't had any issues with that, **knock on wood** lol thanks for watching!
What about your digital clock appears it’s not working??
I have a 2005 Tundra CrewCab 4WD. What headlight bulb would you recommend; I need something brighter, but not so bright that oncoming vehicles will be flashing their lights at me. Thank you.
I still recommend the CO Light LED projectors. I made a video about them linked below. They are different than other LED bulbs because they make a cutoff for the light and I have never gotten flashed by an oncoming driver. Thanks for watching!
