Maintaining my daily driver for the first time

Thousands of people have not asked what my daily driver is, so here it is: a 1985 Volkswagen Golf in all its glory. With over 275,000 miles and a very leaky engine, maybe it's time to do some maintenance on it. Maybe.

I've got quite a large car collection going these days, which is awesome, but the problem is I need to sell some things to make ends meet and that's a very difficult decision to make. What goes? Cars? Motorcycles? Bicycles? My sanity? Time to make some choices.

Saving a Honda N600 Microcar After 39 Years
Some of those aren't cars. Haha. Love the Honda N600. I have a Z600 myself.
Awesome! I bet that’s fun. Can’t wait to have ours going.
It's a shame that the Landlord is being that way! Hopefully U can find a replacement spot? Were U ever late on rent?
@@brimanco thanks, hopefully so. I think I’m getting close to having a space nailed down. Something temporary anyway. Never late on rent, not once. He just wants the space for himself.
Damn brother, if i weren't in financial hell myself id try and donate or something, im giving my like and subscribe for the fuck all that means on this app but best of luck to you brother 🙏🏽🙏🏽‼️‼️💯💯
Man, what a cry baby 😪😪😪
You are going bald. You need to get rid of the excess that IS pulling at the roots. In 5 years, you will look like Hul Hogan if you don't do something about it. Just a warning. I have been there.
just saw your video on my homepage, and i gotta say i love what you're doing man, because its crystal clear that you care about it. i'm sorry to hear the new landlord is such a jackass, and I hope that wherever you end up it works out for you. agingwheels is making it work, and i bet you can, too.
When you buy a property with tenants, you inherit that lease agreement signed with the old landlord. That means you can’t change the lease terms or rent prices, or kick out the inherited tenant (at least not until the lease comes up for renewal). The new owner will not be able to immediately remove the tenant after the purchase without going through a formal eviction process. I would lawyer up. Edit: here’s a basic video explaining it. Obviously commercial properties are different and vary by State. I would 100% find a good real estate lawyer that you can talk to. One week and then two months just doesn’t seem right. ruclips.net/video/SwIbqZmopaI/видео.htmlsi=rFLATvJ3OJg9eCT9 ruclips.net/user/shortszxSk8rHM3ns?si=8iA1yO7TaYuLEJbK
@@ViTALMaTThews Thanks for those resources. You would not believe how directly you hit the nail on the head, given what the landlord did just today. I’ve contacted an attorney. Which feels ridiculous because I’m just trying to go about my business here. I’m not sure why this guy can’t just be reasonable.
@@justindake my guess is that he just thinks that he can get more rent for the space than what you are paying and is just using the story that he wants to use the warehouse for personal use as a way to make you not ask questions. You probably won’t be able to keep the space in the end, but contacting an attorney should definitely get you some more time to figure out what you are going to do and potentially will help with relocation fees. At the end of the day, you should be able to, at the very least, be able to find some rural land and store your cars in a field. Best of luck.
Shit happens. Stop complaining and get shit moving.

Good luck man. 🙏
I am sincer4ly sorry that you are on a stretch of bad road. and there will be more like you who will be losing. I wish you luck and some happiness in the future. good luck brother.
You know I collect vehicles Jeeps and Corvettes and a few others. 1 thing I always had in my Possession was a Garage and Property that was mine. Just throwing that out there.
That seems to be the smartest thing to do. You have an appreciating investment and nobody can raise your rent or evict you or whatnot. I’ve been talking with real estate agents and such, maybe I can get some land and start building.
I’m sorry that’s happening man I lost my shop and it was my home too, but I bounced back and you will too.
Sorry to hear this, man! I hope you get more time, but stay focused on getting it moved. Probably best to not expect anything from the new owner, but do see if you can get some pro advice. It's hard to have to take stock on your collection (I'm guessing you will have to, cause I assume you don't have a 2nd stash house to store all of this). I hope you can manage to see the good in this. But boy, does it suck. Take care, and reach out if you want to talk (Euro) cars or life. all the best man.
Good luck dude
Change is always good mate. Plus this will force you to take stock of all the stuff and refocus on what you want. We're rooting for you!

Love taking my Spitfire to car shows!! Last one I had it at I let about 3 groups of kids set in it and the loved it! I think It has to do with the small size of it! I am taking it to a show this Sunday and will be shooting video so keep tuned for that!!
I will that sounds fun! Gotta let them enjoy it, that’s what it’s all about.
As a Brit, I adore these 1950s LaFrances. For me, they are the epitome of an 'American Fire Truck', in the same way that I think the 1950s Dennis F12 is the 'perfect' example of the British equivalent. I do have a question though.... I was expecting a bell above the front bumper and, on the opposite side, a federal siren (I hope I've used that term correctly?) This truck doesn't appear to have either???
Very helpful, thanks!
70s hatchbacks fascinate me.
So how's it going with that Audi wagon? I don't see any video updates. Are you driving it?
I've wanted another type 44 for years.... I just picked up an 88 Audi 5000 CS Turbo Quattro Avant, same color as yours! WOW at the parts stash!! Amazing!! The look on your moms face was priceless 😅
It's not weird looking. Blasphemy.
Thanks for the video. For those of you wondering, like I was, if this can be replaced with the window in the "up" position, the answer is absolutely yes! I just replaced mine the other day with the window up. Took about 10 minutes including cleaning the grime underneath the old one. I used a plastic trim removal tool, the kind of 'V' shaped type, to slip under the old trim piece and just push up on it along the length of the piece. The old one will just pop off this way. One of the white clips did stay attached to the vehicle but it was easy enough to pry off. Then simply line up the white clips/tabs with the holes between the metal and the window, make sure they're all tucked behind the metal part (and make very sure that the ends of the new trim piece are pushed behind the left and right vertical trim pieces, not in front of them) and work the trim piece evenly down until the clips all click into place. Push down along the length to make sure they're all fully seated (like Justin explained), and you're done! Wish I would have done this years ago to prevent all the water (and salt!) that have dripped down into the hatch and rusted everything out including the entire window mechanism which is why I can no longer put the window down!
The aftermarket side belt moldings are now available online.
Not weird beautiful
Anyone know part numbers for the rest of the weather stripping to complete around the entire rear hatch window??

Hello Justin Dake, please check out this link from Ivan at PHAD he just did an 11 part Audi 200 video repairs and I think you two should know one another and you would like to see his videos as you share the love for that 200. ruclips.net/video/5ExFwqaldTU/видео.htmlsi=avNR8gILzGxba-Az
You'll love driving it . they are beautiful on the highway and the 5 sp is so nice, and the 5cyl is wonderful, and they can easily be chipped to produce over 200hp. With my 5000 quattro avant i found it looked somewhat under tired so I bought 1/2" wider rims and went up 1 or 2 sizes on the width of the tires. (It's been so long now that I've forgotten the sizes but it's easy enough to figure out. The rear tires were rubbing the body work ever so slightly so I had a body man slightly stretch the rear fenders out, almost not noticeable. The car looked good and I had a lot of compliments.
That sounds like a sharp build! I'm looking forward to mine. It's still on the back burner but I have the stock wheels off my A4 ready to go on it, they are 17s and they might require a little roll like yours did. The previous owner did give me a tuned ECU as well which I'm sure will make it on there soon after it's driving 😆
A word of caution. Many new parts are aftermarket and poor quality or even unsuitable. For instance, the new fuel pump that is fitted, quite likely is producing far to much pressure, which will cause running rich. Likewise many replacments steering racks and rear springs are garbage! The sagging rear may need just replacing buttons, but if that does not cure the sag many owners fit mid 70's era Corvette air adjustable shocks, that happen to fit perfectly. Nice project !
Great advice! I actually had someone local tell me about the Corvette shocks too. I haven't made an update video in a while but it's running rich no matter what I do with this new weber, and I had just started questioning fuel pressure. That pump may well be the culprit
I had a 1978 base model in bright yellow color, which I bought used with 45,000 miles on it in Arkansas. It was a great car, but so basic that it didn't come with a/c, a radio (not even AM), a right-side door mirror, or even a day/night rearview mirror! You had to point the rearview mirror up at the headliner at night or be blinded by traffic behind you. Drove it to 80,000 miles with no issues. Hard to find the 12" tires back then.
That sounds like a true MK1 Fiesta experience! A yellow one was just posted for sale on one of the groups recently. They sure knew how to do vibrant colors back then!
Had a 2000 tii Touring. Orange. Built from boxes, surprisingly complete 🤩 Ran Xtremely well when you learned to fine tune it. Small adjustment in the nighttime when the Air was high and cold. The opposite adjustment the next morning. What a Gem! Hate myself for selling it off 😢 Marvellous Vid, thxalot!👍🏆
I think Jay Leno has one of these bad boys. You need a Dalmation to go with it.
