N600! The first car in my life! I had it from 1970 to 1978, adored it and drove down to Rome/Italy, over into the GDR, to Holland and to England. I loved my little N600. Thank you for showing it from the underside, I still remember every screw, had to fix something every week there. Hopefully your restoration succeeded and you made a little gem out of the rusty dwarf? Greetings from Germany.
I have a 1970 N600 that has been sitting in my driveway for 30 plus years. I am currently working to bring this car back to life. I have painted the original White color and have re upholstered the interior. I had the engine repaired when I first got it and it still runs. I am really looking forward to driving it again. Seeing this vidio is exciting to me. Thank You
Aww It really warms my heart to See that someone Would care enough to Respect and restore this little guy. As someone who gets far too attached 2 things like this (cars). Somebody might see a car like this And only see its value because of its rarity but I think back to the moment it 1st rolled off the dealerships lot. I think of how excited the 1st owner must have been and the anxiety he or she must have felt the 1st time they drove into a crowded parking lot Just knowing that someone was plotting to land the 1st door Dent. I think of how Studious the owner must have been with the maintenance but over time like any strong relationship started to take it more and more for granted. As the owner of a 2000 Camry With over 442k miles I can still vividly remember the moment I drove her off the Toyota lot (10/26/99). I remember the mixed sense of pride and anxiety I felt as a 20 year old who had just foolishly made a purchase of something that I couldn't afford. I remember the 1st time I drove Her the 5 hours down the Florida turnpike home from college all the while rehearsing how I was going to explain this to my parents while keeping a side eye out for all the very reckless and aggressive drivers that seemed to be On a kamikaze mission to fuck up My new car. I think of the very 1st time I filled the tank at the Chevron near my school. Regular unleaded was $.99 Per gallon but I would never consider feeding the cheap stuff So I always opted for the premium at $1.14 per gallon. I used to Budget $15 Per week for gas. After my father pointed out that I was married to that Expensive car until 2005 And I would have to drive her at least 200 K in order to break even But it was going To require Having a diet based around Ramen and To Tino's party pizzas I realized that we were in this for the long haul. Well I paid my Camry off In 2005 And for the following few years I had several opportunities to trade the car in for something newer and cooler but every time I thought of my 1st drive home and sought of my Reliable and Who had been there through all the Ramen, My wigger phase Where I dressed her in Chrome rims, My ricer/ Fast and furious phase Tomato can exhaust ( Surprisingly here in Miami it's not like it stuck out like a sore thumb), My "I want to be taken seriously" phase where I went back to factory rims /hubcaps also 86ing The body kit and ridiculous Lee sized spoiler For the plain Jane factory one I couldn't imagine Ever getting rid of her. I work in auto finance now And I can basically drive almost anything I want But I still want to drive that old Camry. It's so badd that my friends refer to the car as Christine however Her name is Cami. Anyway the point of this long ass story Is that When you buy a Pre owned car You're buying both the metal and its history/memories And although it doesn't Increase the book value any I think it should. I can't wait to see the progress you make with that little Honda!
That's a great story, and I think you're absolutely right, these cars carry the memories they make along the way and they reflect the previous owners' care and attention. The Camry's been with you through ups and downs and it keeps going just like it was built to. The Honda actually belongs to my dad now, he really liked it and had been looking for something to keep his hands busy lol. We started doing some little things but finding parts is very difficult and very expensive when you do. There should be another Honda video coming out soon to cover what we've done so far which isn't much, but it's progress.
Out of all the cars I've ever owned in my life this car is my favorite to drive.. I owned 2 1972 n600s . 1 for to drive and 1 project car to rebuild motor. Lol you never had a problem parking any where. Even pulled it inside sliding glass door to work on it. Too cold out side.
I bought a used one from a Honda dealer back in 1973, it was a 1970 Honda 600 sedan, the girls loved it. I think I paid $800 for it back then. It looked brand new and I drove it for a long time.
My 1st car bought 1971 in Hong Kong. Money pit. Owned 3.5 years. Replaced lot of parts. The hand brake almost cannot hold the car on steep incline. But lot of fun to drive. Constant mesh trans, need double clutching for smooth gear change, otherwise lot of noise. Still missed it.
I love that it was a source of great memories for you despite being a pain. Seems like Honda didn't intend these cars to last forever like the big cars. It was probably at home on those city streets. Thanks for sharing your memories of it!
It took me a really long time to figure that out! And to determine which way it goes. I think mine was stuck as well from sitting, but eventually we have gotten the hood open.
I see one on eBay, but not many from anywhere else. Hmm. I'd contact Merciless Mings and see what they recommend doing - either replacing or rebuilding the master. From what I hear they have a lot of parts.
My dad is going to take this one on. He grew fond of it the second I brought it home! His plan is to restore it and I'll be covering the progress as we go.

Glad to hear you made some good memories with yours! These little cars seem to be pretty good at that.
"Don't think there is any good rubber" you got that right.
Nice. Scotty Kilmer I think is restoring one.

There’s a little latch next to the Honda emblem on the left side and you push it side ways to the right to pop it the hood
It took me a really long time to figure that out! And to determine which way it goes. I think mine was stuck as well from sitting, but eventually we have gotten the hood open.
Smal City Car antique...👍🇮🇩
Great score , some tlc and shes back on the road
Thank you! It hasn't been easy finding parts but it's going to be a really good day when it drives.
Très mignonne petite auto, elle donne envie de la conduire !
Do you know where I can find a brake master cylinder or repair kit for the 71 n600
I see one on eBay, but not many from anywhere else. Hmm. I'd contact Merciless Mings and see what they recommend doing - either replacing or rebuilding the master. From what I hear they have a lot of parts.
