    HI,
    I have three 12000BTU C&H aircons installed in my home. One of these is exhibiting the following condition in heating mode.
    1. unit turns on and starts heating after about 2 minutes as per normal.
    2. then fan stops or slows down and heating stops. The top light on the indoor unit starts blinking every 8 to 9 secs. This continues for a period of sometimes 3mins, sometimes up to 15 mins.
    3. After this the light stops blinking and the aircon starts working normally. No error code is displayed and the the gas pressure was checked by the C&H local techs and found to be ok.
    This issue happens either early in the morning or late in the evening only. Operation during the middle of the day is normal.
    Any advice please?

      Hello, my name is Tim Murphy I work with the local distributor as a technical support specialist. I read you had the refrigerant level checked. Unfortunately checking pressure levels is not an accurate way to verify proper refrigerant levels on mini split systems. The correct method for verifying a proper charge is to remove all the refrigerant, vacuum the system down to 500 microns then use a scale and weigh in the factory charge.
      From what I read it does seem like it might be low on charge. In heating the coil must maintain temp for the fan to run.
      What are the model numbers?

    • @josephfarrugia9410
      @josephfarrugia9410 7 месяцев назад

      @@0komanji0 Hi Tim. thank you for your reply. the model number CH-S12FTXQ. According to the C&H local technician the pressure whilst running was 35Bar which he deemed OK. I will relay your suggestion next time he visits. I stress again that after this strange behavior period the aircon heats up properly so this maybe indicates that the gas is ok. What I find strange is the 9 sec blinking. Surely this must mean something? When the tech opened the external unit there was a label on the underside of the top cover indicating the faults possible for the errors displayed. Unfortunately this 9 sec blinking rate is not listed. When you refer to the coil can you amplify what system part this is? Would I be able to blow hot air over it to see if this speeds up the error clearance? thanks.

    Flashing 88 can also mean the wiring between the air handler and compressor is wrong. Check to make sure that the wires on the indoor and outdoor units are in the same order. CH choice in wire colors can make that part a bit confusing.

    I have P6 code on all 2 hunter and cooper mini split. Worked great first time last year winter. This year winter has come again and tried turn the heat on, it didn't do a thing. P6 code pops up. I checked the freon pressure and it's normal. AC still works. Now, how do you test the high pressure switch and low pressure switch?? What voltage is it supposed to have?

    • @TropicSupply
      @TropicSupply  11 месяцев назад +1

      The proper way to check refrigerant levels would be to evacuate the system and ad a new charge by weight. Mini spit systems can range anywhere from 80psi to 160psi when running. So checking the pressures is not an accurate way to verify proper charge. For troubleshooting the pressure switches you will need to call Cooper and Hunter Tech support so they can guide you through the step by step process.
      Please note: When a mini split cools but does not heat or vice versa, that is a sign of improper charge. I would remove the freon and pressure test @ 500psi of nitro and find the leak. Again please call Cooper and Hunter tech support on their site. Cooperandhunter.us

      I had heat guys came down to refill the freon but it wasn't low. But it still doesn't wanna heat up the room, I keep hearing the heat pump kicked off and on like every 5-10mins. And on mini split keeps popping DF every 5-10mins then when DF goes off and it ran another 5mins then P6 pops up. It was constantly doing that for hours. Then i turned it off, giving it up. Its brand new, only used for about a year. Then I noticed other side of heat pumped, it was iced over, what's causing that.

    • @TropicSupply
      @TropicSupply  10 месяцев назад

      My first question is, how did the technicians check the refrigerant levels? Mini split systems fluctuate pressures anywhere from 70-160psi. The only approved method of verifying the refrigerant charge is to remove all the Freon and weigh in a new charge. The manufacture will have the factory charge in oz. written on the model number data tag. I have a feeling the charge is low. DF means defrost mode. And P6 is usually in reference to improper charge.@@kevinharrison7677

    My Mia NG shows “df” randomly while I have it on heat. I didn’t have any problems when AC worked this summer,it’s a new unit and the heat cut outs randomly at times and sometimes displays “df”. Anybody can help?

    • @TropicSupply
      @TropicSupply  2 года назад

      Hello Larry thank you for your question. Your MIA is a heat pump system and when a heat pump is in the heating cycle, the transfer of thermal energy often involves significantly cooler outdoor air. Under some temperature and humidity levels, frost may form on the outdoor coil and can accumulate quickly. This puts strain on heat pump system and makes operation unnecessarily laborsome.
      In order to combat this, your heat pump has what is called a defrost cycle "DF" to eliminate the frost from the outdoor coil. When the heat pump goes into defrost mode, it momentarily reverses operation and goes through the “cooling cycle.” This forces warm air through the outdoor coil, warming it temporarily to remove the frost. This DF or defrost cycle will activate automatically as needed. Please note the system will not heat until the defrost cycle has completed.
      Hope this helps answer your question.

My next question to you is, does the main louver open and close when you power the system on and off? If the louver is not functioning at all then there may be a loose plug or a faulty motor that moves the louver. If the louver does in fact open and close then there may be an issue with the signal from the remote. I would suggest having a certified HVAC tech come out to diagnose the issue.

    how possible to check pressure when compressor not working?

    • @TropicSupply
      @TropicSupply  2 года назад

      The freon pressure can not be properly checked unless the compressor is running. If the compressor is not running your gauges will display the standing pressure. This is not an indication of proper charge. If you are unsure whether or not your system has the correct amount of freon in the system. You must remove the existing freon, and then weigh in the proper freon charge by use of a charging scale. We highly suggest before recharging the system you perform and high pressure leak test and vacuum the system down to 500 microns. Please note the vast majority of freon leaks that form on mini split systems tend to be located at the flare joints. Hope this answered your question, and thank you for watching.
