You two are a hoot! I wish I was there with ya...I am gardening/canning by myself and it definitely isn't as much fun as y'all are having 😂 ...thanks for sharing!
My mom would use paraffin to seal her jelly jars. She used an empty tin can to melt the paraffin. I can still picture that paraffin can saved in the cabinet. We used to pick wild blackberries. Mom would cook the berries, probably with water, then drain off the juice. She would use the berries to make a cobbler and use the juice to make jelly - double duty. She was a wonderful cook and hardly ever measured anything.
The making of jelly or jam is not cheap... But the taste is unbearable, priceless. Going to a store cost more ,you will end up buying more than just a jar of jelly . Also you're paying for what you get water artificial flavoring. Nothing saids, southern like Blackberry jelly, or cobbler!! God bless! FYI You can buy pectin in bulk on Amazon.
When I first started making jelly I used paraffin it's just what you did to seal your jams and jellies. Wish I could still make my own but just not able to. Had entire strawberry patch just go to waste this year because I couldn't pick them just made me sick.
Ladies hearing you share about growing up in 50’s and 60’s it is like telling my story. Unbelievable!

A little bit of butter added makes the foam go away😊
My girlfriend did the blackberry jelly last year and I made the golden plum we gave as gifts.
You can use Rubbermaid gloves and you won't get burned, or stain your hands....I also use the gloves when I debone my chicken.....!!!
I always liked to add a little bit of lemon juice to my jelly, or jams because it makes the flavors so much better....!!!
Where can I find the written recipe please
The best jelly cake I ever made was made with blackberry jelly. It could be that we ate it at the creek so we were hungry😂
