When I was 5 or 6 years old my Sunday school teacher brought a book to me as a gift. I was so upset and couldn't understand why she was bringing me a gift. My mother pulled me aside and said by accepting the gift I was giving her a gift because God would bless her. So when someone gives me something I've learned to be gracious in receiving. It's exciting to see how God blesses the giver and the receiver because He is so good.
The hardest lesson I had to learn as a young pastor’s wife of 20 was to allow church member’s to give to us. A older pastor set me down and told me that it was made our people happy to give of what they have to their minister and wife, and I had to swallow my pride and except whatever it was that God laid on your heart to give us. My mother had taught me to work for everything I got in life so it was hard for me to except. But we have been blessed these 53 years by God’s people. God humbles us and blesses us in His own ways. I would rather be a giver Because it blesses my heart, but we must let others receive blessing also. I am enjoying your story.
When we were married we lived in the apartment under my grandmother and her last name was Zimmerman, well our daughter couldn’t say her last name so one day in referring to my grandmother our daughter said you know “memmy on the roof!” 😂 so that’s what my girls always called her. Thank you so much for sharing your story I was born in 1955 and so much takes me back to stories that my family told us growing up. I’ve laughed and cried along while watching you really should try to have your mothers story printed even if only for your family to pass down to future generations. Wish I had know you ladies , I lived in Nacogdoches for about 3 years was there to help my Mother and stepfather before they passed away left there in 2019 ! God bless you both ! Such a pleasure to know you are doing what you do ! 🙏💕
I am also a person who doesn't enjoy "taking" from others...I'd rather give, but a minister told me one time that I was cheating that person out of a blessing that they might need if I didn't graciously receive their "gift"....so it is more blessed to give than to receive and it is hard for a giver to be on the receiving end...love your videos...my brother in law and sister-in-law lived in Nacogdoches for years. They and their oldest daughter and granddaughter are buried there....
My Mother was born in LatchTX it's not there anymore but it was just outside of Gilmer Tx, we i was young i lived in Gladewater TX. my grandparents ( would be well over 100) called a pounding what we call a a house worming, people would take a lb od anything like flour meal sugar salt beans ect to the newly weds to start their new lives, we still do poundings today
I became a member late but I've went back to go over your video's, you woman remind be of my mom and her sisters, they were TX and they had that sweet draw.
THOSE OLD TIMES BACK IN THE BEGINNING OF THE CENTURY IT WAS STILL HARD TIMES IF YOU WAS POOR......SO HARD PEOPLE COULDN'T UNDERSTAND IT TODAY ...CAUSE THEY HAVE WELFARE NOW.

Bless you. the odd part was that my mommy was also a twin. What has blessed me so much is the fact when you describe your daddy it's like you're describing mine. The tallness with the shiny shoes. He was also quite particular as well. You're making me miss my daddy again.
I enjoyed listening to the yeara that you grew up in, Your parents sound so much like my parents. I was born in Freeport and grew up in Clute. I watched you for the first time on facebook makeing , mac & cheese casserole , sure enjoyed it ,I have never seen anyone using that many ingredients before , but I'm going to make it like you did
