Oh my goodness girl!!! Since I am not invited I must make this myself. If you do can goods that's not much sugar at all. Josie, thank you for this recipe. Beautiful dish. I'm happy your family is there.
I remember my foster mom making these they were delicious you brought back a few good memories in my early life thank you be blessed and thank you for your recipes🙂
Every summer as a kid in northern Wisconsin mamma made blackberry dumplings. Dumplings were made in that fashion for many fruit, vegetable and meat dishes. For the past 35 plus years i have lived in the deep south Gulf Coast and they make flat rolled out dumpling that remind me of a thick flour pasta, in no fashion would they make such a lovely dumpling dish like you made. All what you grow up with.
This brought back great memories for me. My Mama use to make this when I was a child and she would put some in a bowl for us and if we did not have ice cream she would put either a little cream or milk over it... YUMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY... So So Good. thanks for sharing this.
Hi Josie ! I found your channel yesterday and have enjoyed watching your videos - so sorry about the loss of your sweet husband 🙏. Enjoying your recipes ! Is there a video of your “ life story” ? I would love to see one and your farm 😊 . You are so sweet God Bless
Wow!!! My recipes are growing with you Josie😍 I put up different crackers, dry cereals. About 4 different cookies in my 1/2 gal Bell jars and vacum sealed for comfort foods I also put up Red Lobster Bisquits mix packed in a pint jar with spoon and put the small package on top. As much as I have prep, I think Jesus will be my confort!!!🤗
I have never had this ..shockingly since I live in the south, but I have had many delicious blackberry cobblers that my Grandma made! Yum! Thanks for showing us how and sharing your recipe! Blessings !❤️
That looks Delicious, Ms. Josie, I bet they want be any left! Thanks for Sharing your Receipe! I am Proud You have Family helping , with some of the Projects! God’s Blessings on You and your Family!
George Putnam a newscaster used to come into the Chicken Dinner Restaurant at Knotts Berry Farm and as soon as he was seated Mrs. Knott sent him out a big cold glass of buttermilk. No other customer ever got treated to her biscuit making buttermilk.
Thank you. Goodness that looks delicious, and a new way for me to try with blackberries. Glad family is there helping. Such a blessing for you all. Love to you Josie. 🕊🙏🇺🇸
Made this recipe and used peaches instead. I did add about 1 Tablespoon of Lemon Juice to the cut up peaches to keep them from turning brown and I added about 1 teaspoon of Cinnamon along with the sugar. All I can say is Yum! Thought we would have a couple of days from 1 recipe -- nope -- and . . . there are only 2 of us!
I was just thinking the other day about some things she made I hadn't made for so long. She'd cut up potatoes put them in water and some crisco in there, cook them on top of the stove and they'd be like soupy potatoes. Also she'd cut off corn from the cob and scrape the juice from the cob, and cook them on top of the stove. I can't remember exactly what she did. I guess just put water to cover the corn and the corn juice would thicken it. Do you know what I'm talking about, Josie?
My granny did that too. She would make a paste with flour or cornstarch and water to thicken, also adding a tad bit of sugar to sweeten if needed, that was her version of cream corn or skillet corn.
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with us. My mom used to make raspberry dumplings and they were absolutely delicious and this brought back some wonderful memories.I tried making them once after I 1st got married but the dumping didn't come out sweet and I didn't know what his secret was and I think it might have been the sugar and the vanilla.
I am so happy you shared this recipe. We are having this for our supper time tonight. We have a family milk cow so serving with homemade ice cream. I'm just north of you in south central KS. I love the sound of your voice and the wisdom impart when I'm working in the kitchen. May God richly bless you.
Josie, Thanks for sharing your Blackberry Dumplings recipe. They look delicious. I was just thinking how great they would taste with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top! Yum!
Always made dumplings like yours to go in my stews and soups, but never thought bought them in berries before. Great suggestion. Looks like a great treat with dinner. Thank you.
Oh my, that looks delicious! You're making me hungry. Love all your simple, delicious recipes. You should write a cookbook of all your family recipes. I'd buy one! Take care, love you and God bless you! 💖💖

Hi Josie, looks delish! I will have to try this recipe. I made blackberry cobbler last week. I cook a lot with whole buttermilk too, but I dont like to drink it!! I'm the one who is also a Pentecostal Sunday School teacher. I teach Juniors. 10, 11, 12 year olds. Mostly girls. Sometimes I have some teenagers and sometimes I have some younger ones too. We run short on teachers at times. I love teaching, doing what the Lord has called me to do. I enjoy your channel so much! I have a channel, but not near as large as yours. I remember as a child when I stayed all night with my grandparents they always had buttermilk and cornbread for their supper. I don't remember what the buttermilk tasted like being so young but I remember eating it with out fussing about it. I don't like to drink it now I can't get past the smell. I do cook with it. I love the white dip at Hamlins in muskogee and it has buttermilk in it. Did you pick your blackberries they are pretty. I have heard of BlackBerry Dumplings but never ate any. Yours look so good. I am sure going to have to try them. I have had blackberries cobbler. My aunt in Arkansas made the best cobblers. Mom could make a awesome one too. Mama would can blackberries and we could have BlackBerry cobbler any time of the year. It sure was a treat. Those dumplings look like they would be a treat too. Looks easy to do. Another good cooking video. I don't think there is anything that you can't cook and it turns out great Every time. Love you
My grandpa loved cornbread in milk, and he loved crackers in milk. It wasn't buttermilk, he'd drink that by itself, but we loved having that cornbread in regular milk with him, great memories.
Looks so yummy. I love dumplings, but have only made them with chicken. Thanks for showing me this. It opens a whole world of possibilities. Hugs Josie. Great video.
This looks absolutely amazing! I can’t wait to try this! I’m going to try this using monk fruit instead of the sugar as my husband is on a restricted sugar diet. He can have fruit in moderation though! So he will love this as a special treat! Thank you Josie 💕❤️🙏
That looks so good! Good old-timey cooking! Nostalgic watching you make it. Reminds me of the dewberry cobblers my mom and aunt used to make. Good stuff!

I like Hamlins White dip too! These blackberries were picked up at Arnold's in Muskogee. I had to replant my blackberry vines.
