    you got lucky that you could use a hose just the right length my new technique is turn valve to 90 degrees to right and put on longest hose so the extra goes behind toilet where it stays out of sight and clean. then i never have wrong length of hose LOL

    Great video, but don't add caulking at the floor. You want to see a flange leak if it happens.

    Ok today i installed 2 of thoese homedepot ruber things that have a wax ring attach to them. My flange is aboit 1/4 to 1/2 below my floor since they added lvp over tile. Id i wanna add 1/2 flundge spacers do i need to rwinstall a new wax ring under thoese rubber thingys? Does it mater what silicone i use?

    My existing closet flange is metal. Do I have to remove the screws and line it up with this spacer then screw it on (holes don’t line up)?

    • @OmarChannel
      @OmarChannel 8 месяцев назад

      If I leave existing closet flange in place, how would the screws go through the metal flange?

    When do you add more of the rings vs. getting the extra ring wax?

    • @ThatFixItGuy

      The flange should be sitting on the finished floor. About 1/4-3/8 above the finished floor. You could do either. Double wax it or add spacers. I say when you get past using 2 rings you should add spacers.
      Every flange around here is installed on the sub floor.

    This version is even better than the first one. More complete. I also liked how you left the hunt for the washer in the video. That is real life there. 😅 Were you standing in the tub? 😂 👍🏻

      Lol. Yeah I shot from the tub. Not my favorite space, but it worked out great. It’s why I always try to preach knee pads. Such a life saver in the long run.
      I’ve never had a video do what this did. I started laughing and said people had to think I was crazy putting that out. 😂

    Just another suggestion: put the supply line on the valve before you put the tank onto the toilet because usually it's almost impossible to tighten it after the tank's installed .

      Right on. I have never thought of that. Thank you.

    seems like i have seen this before LOL do you ever use those foam rubber rings instead of the wax? the first one i tried kinda fell apart i am trying another brand now since i was only putting toilet down temporarily while fixing bathroom up then was going to pull toilet and put in a new floor.

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  Год назад

      I have wondered about the rubber foam gaskets, but just use wax. They seem to be quite expensive compared to wax. Another reason I have stuck to wax.

    ran into a lop sided flange and in cement covering part of it , which flange do you use , how do you fix a lopsided flange ? (this is my own toilet) i had to chip the cement off the other toilet to get it back on.

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  11 месяцев назад

      I would chop that off and put a new one on for sure. If possible maybe use a twist in flange then screw it into the cement.

    Did you use a regular standard size wax ring or did you use the extra thick wax ring ?

    Is it a bad idea to grout around the flange to prevent leaks from messing up the subfloor? I'm guessing if you have to replace the bottom flange, that's gonna suck removing grout.
    I'm leaning towards grouting it 'cause I'd rather hate my life removing grout than having a rotting subfloor lol

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  11 месяцев назад

      Grout it in bro. There is nothing wrong with that at all. Anything to keep it from leaking below and showing the leak above is always a great call.

    I like to take the nuts off after I cut the flange bolts. Just to recut the threads some.
