I had the same issue on a barely used, 2 year old Vizio V585-H11 from Costco. I played around for a while and found a tape position on the other connector that returned a decent picture. one side is slightly dimmer and less clear than the other side, but I will leave it like that for a while before trying to reduce the width of the tape to further improve the picture. My tape position was not at the edge of the ribbon. Thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial. I had no picture at all and after doing this I started to have some. Do you think that If I replace the board that connects those ribbons I could fix the issue?

No there is a short in the lcd pannel by moving the tape to different spot that can help
