I finally got the replacement power supply board in. Just as you had described, I replaced the board and my problem was solved. It was such an easy and inexpensive fix. Thank you.

Thank you for the Visio video. It was very educational. I opened my Visio E55 E1after I’d done the flashlight test. My board assemblies look a bit different from your video in that there is the main control on the right and the power supply on the left and another board in the center. Since I’m fairly sure that I back a backlight problem, is the problem on the power supply board.

When powered up and shining a light on the screen I can see the screen dose have the input images. Viewing some youtube videos, the first suggestion was the back-light LED’s may have failed. I have disassembled the VIZIO E50x-E1 down to the back-light LED’s. Viewing other youtube videos suggested the trouble may be with one of the other boards. Before the screen went totally black, the upper left corner was darker then normal. the back-light LED’s need t be replaced ?

clarissa olguin if you are getting the same problem as the video shows. Then go fo it. Impress yourself . If it’s not the board for so wired reason, they will take the board back for a small restocking fee. But I’m positive you are doing the right thing..👍🏽👍🏽
My Vizio M75-C1 died 2 days ago. Whole screen had vertical colored bars. Had to unplug/replug and then fully black screen, no sound, no image using flashlight. Power light comes one then fades. I do see red light from audio port. Main, power, t-con board, led driver? Most places don't have many parts available. What a pain to work with such a huge set ugh. Need help guys thanks in advance!
If you do manage to find the failed component on a board, most times its only about a 75 cent part. Its definitely worth a few extra minutes to check for continuity or ohm resistance.
I agree, but we aren’t trying to teach the teachers, but those whom aren’t sure what solder , flux, solder iron, multi meter, resister and a pot is. Please understand I love fault finding, from electrical to electronics. But time is money and money is TIME. I want the person who has never done this before to say... I’ll give it ago. Saw that you checked the fuse on the main power board and it checked out but you replaced it. How did you diagnose which board to replace? Got the exact same problem but wanna make sure I know which board to replace.
Adam Powell I checked the fuse first to see if it was just a power surge that could have blown the fuse. Once I new it wasn’t the fuse , I new it would be one of the boards. But that particular board does certain things for the tv as does the other boards. That board gets hit first as it’s the power board. I do explain partially what each board looks after on the tv. Great question though. Hope that helps .
Wolfeman, I have a 65" Vizio. The TV play's well for a few minutes and then the screen goes black. In the past, the screen has went black for a moment but always came back if I changed the source or channel. It won't do that any longer. Just goes black after a few minutes of working. Any idea which board I should start with? I can see the image when I do the torch/flashlight test. The Audio is fine.
@@wolfeman1966 Thanks. I'll try that. I set it to standard and medium and it worked. I tried setting it to 63 as some said and it went out after a while. Thanks. For others reading this, I had to set this to medium and standard for every individual input, including the button that brings up the apps. Next change will be the board with the fuse.
I got a 50" vizio and in the bottom right corner it had what looks like a postage size spot with color pixels it was working and just went black in the middle of use so I am wondering if you think it is the power board or should I just bite the bullet and buy all 3 and replace them as I found them new cheap on ebay like $50 for all 3
Well at that price it’s a win for all 3, But make sure you can return them if they don’t work. Meaning.. if they sell you faulty goods.👍🏽 But even if you get the right one it’s worth the money

I have a Vizio E601i-A3. The white power light goes on for 13 seconds, then goes out. Replaced power, main and T-con and still have same problem. Totally disassembled TV and checked backlights, they are all good... but do not appear to be getting power, can only see text on screen with a flashlight.. I have 3.3V standby but I also have 3VDC on pin 10 for BL-ERR. The power supply feeds the BL directly so I am guessing that I was sent a defective power supply PCB. argh.

Torch? LOL I have 2 torches - canNOT open either of them! Well, so much for purchasing good flashlights, eh. Vizio 28" - black screen with sound. after cable reset, same problem. called the tech service and did all he said to do - now there is a black screen and NO sound. Marny5580 Vizio are good and cheap. The problem is the component do overheat, breakdown or electrical surges can burn parts out too. There are multiple thing that can go wrong with any name brand tv You now have to think is a 28”still needed or do you want to buy a bigger one for around $350 ish?? Or repair it yourself for 40-50$ or option 3 Sell it to someone who can repair TVs for less and tell them which part is needed.... using that money towards a new and bigger one..🤔 And remember the English used the correct word for torch as a torch is a fire to light your way...😁 My flash light, doesn’t FLASH so there for it’s not a flashlight , just a light in a torch...😂👍🏽

I've got the Vizio E701i-A3, with similar problem, Audio Works, Power LED turns on, but the Torch test doesn't work. The screen backlights come on for a few seconds, then goes black. If I am hearing right, it might just be the T-Con board?

Wish I would have seen this video about a week ago haha e701i-a3 same thing powers up leds flash and turn off, replaced the leds thinking they might be the problem, did the same thing once I powered it on, now I have a new power supply board on the way crossing my fingers it works, did you ever repair the old broken board and if so what parts were bad ? I believe the power boards are pretty similar, ty again for this video
Glad you found my video 👍🏽 No I never bothered finding the fault. The cheap cost for the quick fix outweighed the time I would spend finding the fault.👍🏽
I have a Vizio 55in (V555-G1 LTCDYILW) that the top of the screen has become much darker, almost black. The middle and bottom of the screen looks perfect. Any idea what part I need to replace to fix my tv? It’s in excellent shape and just started doing this all of a sudden.

I have this same tv half of my screen is not bright anymore you can still see the picture sound works to but it’s just losing its light is this the t-con plus the power board or is this the display going bad since half the screen is losing its brightness the leds come on when plugging it in and can see it thru the metal panels
My back light on no words flash light test. But all parts had 4/18/19 so all the parts were replaced then what could it be. The TV was playing a Netflix movie then screen went out but had sound to the movie? I have the back plastic off....

I'm having the same problem with my vizio 70 inch. I can see the "no signal" words when I shine a flash light to my tv screen. I've read from other sites and videos that it's the main board, but yet, your video, you said it's the power board. Which do I replace?
Bret Moua the main board is the power board. It’s the larger board with the fuse in the bottom left corner. Yo also must turn on or power up your tv when doing the flashlight test. If not you will not see any text. Hope that helps. And I got my part from a company called “shopjimmy.com”. I am not officiated with any company.👍🏽
@@wolfeman1966 The "main board" is NOT the power board. The main is the processor, inputs and control. The Power board is the one with all the big coils and capacitors on it, which the AC cord ( in this case being on a daughter connector away from it) directly connects to. It should have a 5 and 12 volt standby that is triggered by the main board ( outbound 12v to main, then back to trigger power on via 5v rail). These are two separate boards for a few reasons, one mainly being to keep RF out of the DSP from the resonating coils in the supply pulling down 120VAC to DC supply voltages ( all electronics work on DC, BTW ). It bothers me to see people put videos up for a repair and do not know how it works and also not giving out correct info. The LED backlights should have been tested in the light box ( yes, that is what it is called), to rule out bad ones before recommending a power supply replacement. This can be done with a 9 volt battery if you do not have the right tools. I have been in the business since 1986, so I do know what I am doing.

I get a partially darker screen during dark or night scenes only. Never while I watch news or bright daylight scenes. Could this be a problem with the same board?
My TV started messing up out of no where, the sound and Tv work fine but the tv dimmed by itself so much and I can see but it’s hard to see and idk what to do , MY tv is darker now
J Weezy replace the same board I have. It will just be a matter of time when your will go black. Showing a part is breaking down. Go for it, you can do it. Don’t forget to unplug when working on the board 👍🏽

Hey man awesome video. My tv always had issues turning on, sometimes took a bunch of times before light would go on. Yesterday my kids said there were weird lines in the tv and then it wouldn’t turn on. I can get the white light and the red light on board to turn on. I don’t have any audio, no backlight, when I use torch test I can’t see anything. Any idea? I don’t want to buy a board if I don’t need to.
Phil Ebbesen replace the same board I did, power board. I know you don’t what to buy one But, you will be great full you did afterwards. It’s the quickest way I promise. Less time wasting. And you’ll feel the self worth afterwards on your achievements. Go do it..👍🏽👍🏽

Has sound, cannot see any images on with the flashlight 🔦 test..... But can you see any back lights..?? If yes then it’s either the tecon board or the main board. Start with the tecon
@@wolfeman1966 Well it played audio through the surround sound. When I shine a flashlight on it, I don't see anything, maybe because there is to much glare. When I turn on the TV, the light indicating it turned on turns on. I will do some more testing but is it possible you could link me the parts so I make sure I buy the right thing?

Yo, so the backlight and audio is working but its just black if that makes scene, when I open the back plate up there is white leds too so it's kinda like a glow on the screen, ye if any could help me great vid!
vid actually starts good afternoon it’s your T Con board . Make sure you are careful removing the cables to the board, no rough play. Let me know when it’s been changed out so other will know I’ve given you the correct advice.👍🏽👍🏽
Bought a main board that wasn't it. and the replacement kept repeating odd dark colors (provided I flew a flashlight at it. ) Now we had a possible surge the day before this went dark. But it worked that night, but it didn't the next day. So I assume someone was blow and it cascaded. But one place assured me it was the main board. got a used PSU for $23 we'll see if that does it. it's only a 32 inch 1080 so nothing much but the 4K eh rather not get Vizio for that. Mines 6 yrs old moms is 4. Mine's still rocking but mines hooked up to a beefy (not iron proof) surge protector. Got mom a lightning protector on hers (APC) so that should be good for her if she gets a new tv or the power works cause the fuse works but I've heard the class y caps and others can fail and some of those I don't get any continuity

Usually they don't break but I've had 2 do so. and it's not my tv , breaks on me oh well I break someone else I pay for it. :O Just trying to save mom a bit of money.... goto50007 believe me... it’s a ball ache checking every little part, resistor on the board. Sometimes it’s made easier through sight ( burnt area ) etc Sometimes it’s a weak solder joint . But if you have the right testers. Go for it... 👍🏽😊
Main board, something…. Resister, pot is overheating and shutting down. Damaged. It starts whilst cold, warms up and can’t cope… then shut down due to heat. Replace the main board 👍🏽
Lakita Sykes Did you check the fuse on the board? Did you check audio? Is so and both are good... You need to buy the new board from shop jimmy.com And it’s normally the Power board. Write down the number of the board and let them know . They will give you the price and ship it.
The tv just went black. Still had sound. I did the flash light test nothing. Did the tv reset nothing. Changed main board and power board. The next step for me will be the light part. Idk. The tv is barely a year old.
@@theraman87 is there a red light on the board on the right….. at the bottom left corner? When powered up.? If not. Then that is the board to replace. If there is a light then it’s your Tecon bottom board.👍🏽

I have a Vizio D65-D2 & My tv recently won’t turn on. When I plug it up the light comes on and fades away slowly. Do you think It’s the power board?

I have the same exact tv. 60 inch. I was watching tv and it slowly started to go black/Brown until it suddenly just faded to all black the sound was still playing up until the tv went fully black. Any ideas what board it may be. Is it worth fixing? Tv is probably at least 8 years old.Thanks!

I have this same tv half of my screen is not bright anymore you can still see the picture sound works to but it’s just losing its light is this the t-con plus the power board or is this the display going bad since half the screen is losing its brightness the leds come on when plugging it in and can see it thru the metal panels

My back light on no words flash light test. But all parts had 4/18/19 so all the parts were replaced then what could it be. The TV was playing a Netflix movie then screen went out but had sound to the movie? I have the back plastic off....

I'm having the same problem with my vizio 70 inch. I can see the "no signal" words when I shine a flash light to my tv screen. I've read from other sites and videos that it's the main board, but yet, your video, you said it's the power board. Which do I replace?
Bret Moua the main board is the power board. It’s the larger board with the fuse in the bottom left corner. Yo also must turn on or power up your tv when doing the flashlight test. If not you will not see any text. Hope that helps. And I got my part from a company called “shopjimmy.com”. I am not officiated with any company.👍🏽
@@wolfeman1966 The "main board" is NOT the power board. The main is the processor, inputs and control. The Power board is the one with all the big coils and capacitors on it, which the AC cord ( in this case being on a daughter connector away from it) directly connects to. It should have a 5 and 12 volt standby that is triggered by the main board ( outbound 12v to main, then back to trigger power on via 5v rail). These are two separate boards for a few reasons, one mainly being to keep RF out of the DSP from the resonating coils in the supply pulling down 120VAC to DC supply voltages ( all electronics work on DC, BTW ).
It bothers me to see people put videos up for a repair and do not know how it works and also not giving out correct info.
The LED backlights should have been tested in the light box ( yes, that is what it is called), to rule out bad ones before recommending a power supply replacement. This can be done with a 9 volt battery if you do not have the right tools.
I have been in the business since 1986, so I do know what I am doing.
Please see my reply. This guy just got a little lucky, but does not know what he is talking about.

Hey man awesome video. My tv always had issues turning on, sometimes took a bunch of times before light would go on. Yesterday my kids said there were weird lines in the tv and then it wouldn’t turn on. I can get the white light and the red light on board to turn on. I don’t have any audio, no backlight, when I use torch test I can’t see anything. Any idea? I don’t want to buy a board if I don’t need to.

On my tv The bottom white light goes off right away but the red light on the back remains.

@@wolfeman1966 Well it played audio through the surround sound. When I shine a flashlight on it, I don't see anything, maybe because there is to much glare. When I turn on the TV, the light indicating it turned on turns on. I will do some more testing but is it possible you could link me the parts so I make sure I buy the right thing?

Yo, so the backlight and audio is working but its just black if that makes scene, when I open the back plate up there is white leds too so it's kinda like a glow on the screen, ye if any could help me great vid!

Bought a main board that wasn't it. and the replacement kept repeating odd dark colors (provided I flew a flashlight at it. ) Now we had a possible surge the day before this went dark. But it worked that night, but it didn't the next day. So I assume someone was blow and it cascaded. But one place assured me it was the main board. got a used PSU for $23 we'll see if that does it. it's only a 32 inch 1080 so nothing much but the 4K eh rather not get Vizio for that. Mines 6 yrs old moms is 4. Mine's still rocking but mines hooked up to a beefy (not iron proof) surge protector. Got mom a lightning protector on hers (APC) so that should be good for her if she gets a new tv or the power works cause the fuse works but I've heard the class y caps and others can fail and some of those I don't get any continuity

Usually they don't break but I've had 2 do so. and it's not my tv , breaks on me oh well I break someone else I pay for it. :O Just trying to save mom a bit of money.... Otherwise I'll part it out in the end... if I have to..

I am actually very surprised it was the main power board. I am seriously curious as to what is really wrong with them in this model now.
goto50007 believe me... it’s a ball ache checking every little part, resistor on the board.
Sometimes it’s made easier through sight ( burnt area ) etc
Sometimes it’s a weak solder joint .
But if you have the right testers.

Main board, something…. Resister, pot is overheating and shutting down. Damaged.
It starts whilst cold, warms up and can’t cope… then shut down due to heat.

The fuse is ac power if you can see no signal with flash light then obviously the fuse is good. No need to test it.

What was happening before it stopped working?
The tv just went black. Still had sound. I did the flash light test nothing. Did the tv reset nothing. Changed main board and power board. The next step for me will be the light part. Idk. The tv is barely a year old.

If not. Then that is the board to replace.
If there is a light then it’s your Tecon bottom board.👍🏽
