Good instructions thanks. This might be the repair needed for one of my two Vizio's crashing in the same two weeks. I'll explain both situations and hopefully you can share your thoughts on diagnosis. TV. #1, Backlight certainly works but losing color, contrast and brightness as the picture is starting to blacken out in top left corner and bottom right...almost is rectangle shape. Picture is good after a rested restart and the problem quickly creeps back in. TV. #2, our oldest Vizio maybe 8 years, 50". First sign of a problem was the quick App start brand bottoms at the bottom of the modern FireStick would change the TV input to an unused port. Next problem it would blackout and flicker back on with clear white horizontal lines. Then it flickered until it don't come back. After long rests it worked again a couple times, with sound, and was back out within 10 minutes. Now it's out-out with no sound of the FireStick clicks changing the Apps and all black screen...no backlight. With was a 2 month experience from beginning to end.
It looks like youre a good tv repair man and a very good demonstrators and no i can get mines repair we dont have many people like that around where i lived but cudas to you you looks like you're good God bless and its looks like me and my girls will have to just listen for right now lol
You're not a tightwad fixing a big TV like that. If I tried to fix the 20 inch-er I just threw out that would be tightwadding. Subscribed to see what else you can do!
Happened to me 5-6 years ago. I kept the tv for over a year just sitting there because I had only used it a handful of times, eventually I went on Google figured out I could buy a PCB and it could fix it. So I replaced it and voila.
Yeah I heard there’s issues with the panel drivers burning out the t-con. Who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky. Is yours still working or did yours burn out again?

If you have a multimeter you should be able to check continuity throughout the backlight, or check between connections on the board. The latter would require schematics or knowing which circuits are where.

How did you know it was the T Con that needed to be replaced? Mine turns on, but I can't select a source or any menu items. After about 5 minutes a screen saver image shows up so I know it's not anything to do with the actual LED Display. I was thinking I needed to replace the main board, but then I came across this video. It's the first time I've heard of the T Con Board.

I have an Elements 58" E4AA58R. I have sound and no picture. My screen light up blue. On the left side I have a pinpoint bright white spot. My issue started there and changed to horizontal lines on the lower third, then my screen went blank. I am having issues find parts for that model. Tried various combinations between old parts and new ones, same issue. Did a factory reset from TV buttons and can hear the TV respond and say reset will start shortly, still same issue. Mine will fade out but will turn back on after I hold the mute button for a few seconds followed by pressing the exit button on the remote. Would replacing the t-con board solve that problem too?
I have the same problem on an Vizio XVT3D474SV. Its an oldie (around 13 years old) but even then, the picture quality is great, in my opinion. Anyway, I searched for this part, however, the only few i could find are worth $100-$230 😢 So if thats the case I might just buy a new TV with thay. Sad.

Press on the screen gently , if you can see illuminated white spots on pressure marks that means back light is working . If no then you have to replace the backlight .
A lot of the time it's the power inverter board in this case, especially if you have sound & can see the picture just faintly when shinning a flash light at the screen without lights on in the room your TV's in..
Ok I’ve replaced tcon board and still not working any ideas what no tackle next I still have light around the screen and lights up when I turn on but still no picture 🤦♂️🤷♂️

my TV was on overnight for two days and I try to watch a movie & my TV started to turn different colors on the screen . Just like yours, my backlight is coming on with no picture. But when I power on the TV, the Visio logo appears and disappears (like it normally does), then no picture. You can still see the glow of the backlight, but there's no picture. Flashlight test doesn't work. Unplugging and holding down the power button doesn't work either. Could it be the t-con board, like yours?

Replaced my t-con cause of dimmed screen (dark and lack of blue) on my lg 49uh610v refurbished one that was probably damaged during transport gave black screen (backlight on) no startup logo LG. So I've put my old one back and now also when turned on not even LG logo... Anyone could help me? Can't afford a new one etc. let alone new TV.

@@ablaylock4273 In the end no...I tried a lot of troubleshooting nothing worked. Took it to a tv guy and he said it was never gonna work again. Got rid of it, got a new and made sure this time to get the warranty. Thanks for checking though!
My TV is 4 years old, warranty just expired. I left the room to get a coffee, and came back to a grey screen with blurry vertical lines. There is sound and I can tell that the the grey lines shift if I press buttons on the remote control. The TV turns on and off. Just a crap picture. I have the VIZIO "v585-h11" and every replacement part I checked has a price well over $100.00. For a few dollars more than "spare parts", I bought a new TV with warranty. Now I am going to tinker with the old TV and see if any fuses or capacitors are blown and replace them. Maybe I'll snip a few diodes as a last resort.
@@TightWadDIY - Thanks. I'll give it away for parts. Otherwise the local trash that picks up computers, batteries, and TVs is coming to my house on March 10th. Hopefully they use recycled parts from it. It's a retro GAMER TV too. WIth the RGB and RCA hook ups.
Great video Very easy to follow with only one mistake, when you replace a TCon Board one should wait to remove the screws until after the cables are unhooked to avoid having to hold down plate not only making this easier but less amount of times hands are on the device the better. It's odd your replacement order is right, and you even note your reason for doing so which made it odd when you didn't when you removed it.

TVs are tricky. You might want to sell it on FB marketplace for parts and move on.

It is a crap shoot with this particular model. They are known to blow TCon boards. The new one could last a few years or it could blow immediately.

We are going to check the backlight, we definitely have sound and no picture. If we shine a flashlight into the screen we can see a faint picture.

replaced and didn't work.. But it did add a 6 inch section of the screen far left with vertical lines.

I’d replace the tv instead. They are too cheap to fool with now. Parts are expensive.

These TVs are known to blow TCons so there is a chance it blew your new one.

Goto ebay order tcon board get serial number of board your model of your tv insert board very carefully and voila

another tip to protect you from getting shocked is to unplug it and hold down the power button to flush all excess electricity from the storage!

It could have a bad main board or it could be shot. Check the fuse first to make sure it’s not something really easy.
Mine is only 6 months old and this is what’s wrong with it I’m so dam mad I buy a Visio tv because there supposed to be a good brand I will never buy one again a no name brand would have lasted longer than this
Also I will be throwing out my 60 inch Visio I don’t fix things like this
Don’t throw it out. Sell it on FB marketplace. You should be able to get $100-$150 for it even if it’s broken.

i have VIZIO M50-C1 MAIN UNIT 715G7288-M02-000-005T the problem appeared double screen (one screen devided to tow screen ) do you know how can i fix this problem
My TV did the same thing and so I just replaced all three boards. The problem still remains. Any suggestions?
