THIS WORKED FOR ME TONIGHT!!! (8-12-24) Visio V555-G1, pin 56 on the left (front view, on right rear) ribbon connector. They are so small though that I couldn't make a piece of tape that small once I narrowed it down to that pin so I have actually have 54-56 taped off. I may go back in later and just cut the line in the ribbon. Too bad there's not a test box with lots of switches for each line. The factory proably has one. Thank you again for a great video.
i just read your seven comments and sad, I had seen this method elsewhere before and gave it no mind, but with this tv I just got off the street I bought a new t-con board 8 bucks off AliExpress nope wrong one different variation of the model the ribbon slots weren't sized right so what the heck its apart I saw your video and a sliver of tape first attempt didn't work flipped the ribbon and it did, originally one side was white and one side was working so thank you, mine does not have that color thing or i don't see it cause i don't watch tv
I wonder if you might be able to fix that coloration problem by resetting the picture settings in the menu it's been 2 months since you uploaded this video I wonder if there any new updates about it cuz I do have a TV that I'm currently wanting to fix myself and this video has been the best one I have found yet
Thanks for your comment! No new updates, I can tell you that resetting TV or settings won't fix that discoloration as it's more related to actual panel (screen) so what I did in this video can just fix the vertical line but can't fix discoloration.
Once you start covering pins the signal stops so it will produce discoloration. Unless you can fix the actual long board or find the root problem then it won't sort the colour. I'm looking for the same thing 😂😂😂 has to be a video somewhere.
Good Questions! The problem isn't in the ribbon, the true problem is in the actual panel/screen. No, this technique won't work with horizontal lines. You can tap the other side ribbon if you have lines on other side.
@@Xx_TheCuriousBrain_xX I disagree with you, I think it IS the T-Con board. I'm going to try this tape method in a few minutes and report back to this video. I've been trying to get a working T-Con (timing control board) from a few vendors in the past month and they are not to be had. One vendor had every part for my particular model, EXCEPT the T-Con board. I'm confident that this is the weak link of these V Series Visios TVs. I'll let you know my finding soon. Thank yoy for your video.
@@Salty_Knuckles that's okay, you don't need to agree with it. Let me tell you this:- After making this video, I decided to move the tape around and start blocking more terminals to see if it maybe fix color issue...tried bunch of times without turning the power off and ended up blowing my t-con board. IC on t-con board heated once and then no pic on the screen at all no matter what I did after, so I knew at that time I got a bad t-con board. I had to make the decision of either throwing away this TV or purchase new t-con board. Ordered new t-con board, came in mail, installed without tape at first to confirm if my previous t-con board was bad and nope, same lines with brand new board, put the tape carefully and then lines were eliminated. It was painful to damage working t-con board and had to wait good 3 weeks for AliExpress to deliver me cheaper t-con board compared to expensive local board.
@@Xx_TheCuriousBrain_xX I have an update!!! Now I think I agree with you. Its not the T-Con board. I think there is a defective component on the Panel Driver board, that thin board that the T-Con connects to. My TV works fine when its cold and the tape in place, with two different boards. But after about 15-20 minutes, it warms up and the bottom of the display starts to deterioate, about 4 inches of the very bottom. I honestly think replacing the whole panel is a fools errand. I"ll keep the TV around but I think I'm just going to buy a new one for $450-500 at Walmart. I'm trying to save it from the trash heap.
If your Vizio TV won't turn on, you can try a soft reset by unplugging it for 60 seconds and then plugging it back in. If that doesn't work, you can try a hard reset. To do this, unplug the TV, press and hold the power button on the TV itself (not the remote) for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and try turning it on.
I tried looking the power button to reset it but there is no external one. I’m going to do the ribbon test now and see what happens. I’ve already got my warranty money back yesterday so wish me luck. 😜
I tried doing it to my Vizio today but no luck. I think both the ribbons are bad. I still had the vertical rainbow lines no matter which ribbon I switched to either side. And then the tape thing also didn’t work I tried on both of them. Probably need more patience but I don’t have that much 😅😂
Lol, yeah it's more of a luck type repair because you never know exactly where the problem is...you can try blocking more terminals to see if that helps since there is no clear indication which one would help. I only made video after I knew I was able to fix it until then it was just a matter of time :)
In another video, the guy moves the tape to cover the next few connection in the ribbon if the first 4-5 don't do the trick. Keep trying, don't give up.
There are things that can't be fixed 100%. I call this Fix because TV that belongs to trash is now can be used in garage or in kids room instead of junk.
Don't forget to subscribe! It really does mean so much to me when you do! :) and say hi!!!

Wow, sounds like you discovered another fix that my video did not cover...thanks for your comment and glad this video helped out somehow!!
Thank you so much! I have been hunting for a video like this for the last few months. This worked perfectly!

Can a new ribbon be purchased? Secondly, can i use the say technique for horizontal lines? Thirdly, can i tap both ends othe ribbon?

I’ve just so many things but still nothing. I’m not getting the black screen on one side or the other like you do. Could it be something else?

thanks but why in the blue hell is this dam near 30 min long
You're so welcome! If you missed anything, feel free to go back and review for another 30 min.
Because he has good information that’s why.
@@YeeeeeHaaaaa I agree and he also has a sense of humor, I was just stressing, the video is good the info is spot on, make no mistake
I’m not sure I would call this a fix, sure, the lines are gone but more than half the screen is not showing the right colors🤦🏼♂️
