    I just cannot believe that Ryan fixed this for me, he is a real genius! If you think he has a big grin you should see my face.
    My Maserati was off the road for over a year with not only the dealership not being able to repair but it has also baffled others too. Cannot thank him nor recommend highly enough

      I’m actually amazed at how shite garages are in Scotland these videos are showing garages can’t do what I’m my eyes are the utter most basic of basic tests and systems makes me feel untouchable in my trade 😊 thanks lol

      @Archiegser 4 месяца назад +7

      @@Gearhead90 It's not just Scotland! Problem is they don't want to touch this stuff for cars that are out of warranty period. Fault finding should be the easy bit fixing is more difficult due the lack of space to work around in engine bays. Also being able to understand how scan tools work and then diagnostics using the tools in the tool box. Lots of complexity = more time and deliberate by the OEMs. They want you to buy new cars. and more complexity makes it more difficult for guys like Rayan to keep up with electronic sub systems modules. Oh for the old days! When you could test simple plugs points and coils with nothing more than a test light and points file. Good work Ryan well done.

    Well done you - shows the importance of not just using the voltmeter which has no curren flowing to test for voltage drops but to put a load on it and see what current it can support before the voltage drops to an unacceptable level

    Hi Ryan as you know the only trouble with newer electronics on are cars these days, so many wires and plugs, damp and water ingress will soon cause green crusty joints.
    The only trouble with dealerships and some garages they have no clue to what look for, dealerships fitters (not mechanics) are like robots, plug diagnostics scanner in and look at DTC and go with pre-determined fix and start replacing modules which becomes very expensive with no turn on cost if proven fault was down to a simple green crusty within the wiring loom.
    This happened to me and the main dealers said that 3rd party work was not covered and would not even look into the fault fixed, keep up the good work I just wish I lived in Scotland.

    Great diagnostic! so many dealers now have technicians that are poorly trained and just fit parts and do not carry out proper testing.
    A lot of the times its down to time and pressure from managers for targets and efficiency they only care about making money.
    Alot of the good techs have lefted the trade also so there is not alot good ones still in it like yourself.
    In my dealer I am the only one with diagnostic tools in my toolbox and know how the systems work being a mastertech but the other techs still get diag jobs and i feel sorry for the customers

    How can they fail when you triumphed. They've got all the right dealership gear. Only once have I had to take a car to a Dealership for a fault and the VW dealer was Awful. Fault appeared after 10min of driving 3 times. It didn't stop them charging me each time until I went ape in the showroom. The vast majority of Stealership technicians are glorified grease monkeys that can only follow a screen. Any half decent one usually leaves to setup on their own. Anyway Ryan, excellent work again. You're becoming the Glasgow Ivan PHAD.

    I can imagine how satisfying that was to fix such a niche car that the main dealer and others couldn't fathom where the fault was. Looks like there might have been water ingress in the loom that caused the corrosion you showed. Anyway, that was a an outstanding bit of diagnosis and repair Ryan and I can see John was over the moon with your fix on his lovely car.

    Modern garages have technicians and one Master Tech who is the mechanic. Our Kia developed a fault where it wouldn't drive above 40 mph. I used a £30 scan tool that gave a MAF error code. Kia dealership had it twice and so called Master Tech even said it was fixed but the car had the same fault which I found the cause of in under 10 minutes. Removing the air intake to look for an air leak I found the air inter cooler was bowed. Dealership fitted new inter cooler and the car drove perfectly. On collecting the car my wife asked when did they want me to start working for the dealership as the Master Tech was obviously crap LMAO.
