Might be worth a mention if the crank bolt is tight coming out apply a little bit of heat as they put lock tight on them bolts saves stripping the threads on the crank or snapping the bolt
The 2.0 TDCI’s are one of the best engines ever!!! A friend of mine has a 2012 galaxy with over 500,000 miles with no issues at all along with my mums kuga that has over 185,000 (witch is driven with a very heavy foot) Not to mention other people I know that have had 2.0 mondeos for years without a single issue at all. The 1.5s aren’t far behind either tbh So so good!
Put 235k miles on one of these in an Smax. Great engine but one thing that does happen them is the copper washer at bottom of injectors give out & you get a fumes smell in the cabin. If done immediately they mightnt be too bad but my one had done a bit of driving after going & it was a real battle to get injector out. I was advised to check the other injector clamps & found they were bit on slack side so it's worth doing & save yourself a job. GREAT video again 👍
On top of all the replacement components, I always replace the camshaft & crankshaft oil seals too , whether leaking or not , to save another strip down later on 👍
@@sdgelectronics it usually is the crank seal to go first as it rotates twice the speed of the cam if not treble the speed so will wear quicker in my opinion 👍
Another great video! Suggestion why don't you do a "Baz's top 5 loved & 5 Loathed cars" with a mention as to why you love or loath each of them from experience. I think that would get a lot of hits.
@@MadMurdock69 1.8 TDCi was only an issue from late 2008 onwards when Ford decided to change the lower chain to a wet belt (and not tell anyone) as well as all the injectors from Siemens suddenly being substandard (and failing prematurely), it's VERY hard to kill a 1.8 TDCi. The 1st generation (16v) 1.6 TDCi...well that's another story!
Do you replace the crank/cam oil seals? I usually always get mine done when doing a timing belt because if it's not leaking now, it will be soon enough!
Random question, but when the car is on the deck or the ramp isn't used, why do you keep the arms for the two post ramps at full height? I'd be forever bumping my head on them!
I have Mondeo 2.0 diesel. Lately, when I press full throttle, there's intermittent loss of power. It accelerates but with small pauses. I ve checked injectors, replaced O2 sensor, I ve disabled dpf,I get no errors on diagnostic tools. Engine has 216k miles. When car is cold no issues, only when it gets up to temperature I m having this problem. Any ideas anyone? I m gonna replace crankshaft sensor next
as a mechanic myself i do often wonder what other mechanics use tool wise. would be great to see a tool box tour at some point would love to see!
I have 150,000 miles on my 2010 2.0Tdci and it has never missed a beat. Great reliable engines

‘Pokery-joogering’. Another classic Bazism.
Seriously though, cracking video and Ben is a natural in front of the camera.
Done one in Boxer last year... secondary chain broke at 300,000km.....didnt break anything. ..top job . Chain and go😊

not only reliable, but easy to work on compared to the newer Fords. or the 1.0 ecoboost
Your attention to detail is amazing Baz well done.Have a great weekend.
so far the best car what I have ever had...very reliable engines

crankshaft oil seal was definitely starting to leak.

@@richie674 possibly, but you can see the oil residue around the crankshaft before he cleans it off.
Own a 09 titanium x, owned 12 years has 164000 on it excellent car never let me down

That's a great idea
Mate that crank sensor would do my head in, i would have to change. Also made me feel old when you said older vehicles like this 😢
I've bought tools from eBay/amazon and never had an issue.
A lot of the problems are people's (mis) use of them.
100%
98% of my tools come from eBay, always done the job.
Amazing engine
A proper workhorse.
Totally agree unlike the troublesome 1.6 & 1.8..

Sat waiting for this 👍
Looked like a sauna in the offside headlight.
Yes I spotted that too , I despise condensation in light clusters it just looks so shabby & uncared for ☹️
I´m waiting for a Mondeo Mk5 Ecoblue 2.0 wet belt video... :)
Awesome work baz 👍👍
Time lapse sound good to me, see what you do...😁
Did you use the little spring pin to hold the crank sproket in the centre of the woodruff key gap?
I have the later version in my focus ST . Brilliant engine
Well done great job mate 👏 what make of kit would you recommend for a Corsa d 1.4 petrol 2014 timing chain kit 😊 thanks 👍
I'd use bga, I've used them for years and never had a problem

Depends if they are leaking, if it's not broke don't fix it
What do you use to support the engine once the mount is off? Great content
The sometimes support themselves other times I use a block of wood on the driveshaft and subframe
Just a question. Are there any petrol powered cars left in the UK as all the jobs I've seen you do are on diesels?
Plenty of petrol cars about, diesel are popular
Nice one 💪👌 Bazarooney 😂
How do you rate the new camera Baz?
10/10 complete game changer compared to the go pro took some getting used to and still getting used to it but deffo the best upgrade
No torque wrench touched that crankshaft bolt 😅
Was this the first belt change? 14 years old? 😮
What Launch scan tool are you using?
Euro tab 3
great video who puts a fuel filter there
Ford engineers... it's a Peugeot engine and in PSA cars, it's located just above the alternator (with a drip tray below to protect the alternator!)
Random question, but when the car is on the deck or the ramp isn't used, why do you keep the arms for the two post ramps at full height? I'd be forever bumping my head on them!
So he can drive the car out the workshop as there is a wall in front of the ramp
Ah yeah, I can see it now. Only been following for a couple of weeks but it's been spinning me right out. Made no sense 😂 Keep up the good work Baz 👍
It's going to be in one of my uploads next week buddy explaining this
hey up baz ya ever changed a crankshaft position sensor on a merc a180d 1.5dci cheers im trying to locate it cant find owt online cars 2017
Sits in top of gearbox at the back. Above flyhweel. Under a plastic cover
How its hold without engine mount?
There is an engine mount besides the coolant resevoir! it's standard ford design! There is also a transmission mount underneath the battery bracket!

Most reliable engine? And it’s a psa engine?!? Haha
