    Any body who knows this area would know that it has a plateau over 2500 feet above sea level making this project impossible. The Suez canal is a sea level canal and the Panama canal only needs 3 locks to raise 82 feet to Gatun Lake.

      There is a route about 800 ft in elevation, from the Gulf of Aqaba to the lowlands south of the Dead Sea, along the Jordanian border. But this would flood the valley all the way to Gallilee, inundating large areas of Israel and Jordan, including the Dead Sea and Jordan River valleys. It would be a disaster.

    From an engineering standpoint this canal is possible but not feasible. It would need around one hundred locks to pass the 2000 ft elevation between the Gulf of Eilat /Aqaba and the Mediterranean Sea. Those locks would require over 60 million gallons of water to be pumped from the sea to the top of the lock system each hour.
    Edit: Double those figures for the dual canals proposed (200 locks and 120 million gallons per hour) .

    • @abatesnz
      @abatesnz 6 месяцев назад +10

      Better to go North from Eilat to the Dead Sea, then diagonally across via the Jezreel Valley from south of Beit She'an to just south of Haifa.

    • @mudboy9762
      @mudboy9762 6 месяцев назад +24

      @@abatesnz It does not matter what direction you take, the minimum elevation for any path between the Gulf of Eilat /Aqaba and the Mediterranean Sea is still over 2000 feet. Pumping that much water to an artificial inland lake at the highest elevation every hour is not feasible because of the number of pumps, pipes, and power requirements.

    • @elinys2843
      @elinys2843 6 месяцев назад +10

      Any lock takes time, time is money. This is economically a stupid idea. If it takes double the time to pass through this new canal, it will not be economically viable. And it will give Egypt a perfect reason to collect even more from each passage.

    • @abatesnz
      @abatesnz 6 месяцев назад +11

      @mudboy9762 nah, they are both at sea level. The canal can remain so if heading north to the Dead Sea, up the River Jordan, then diverting NW towards Haifa, from just south of Beit She'an, crossing via the Jezreel Valley where I said. No lock needed.

When you look at what the British did with their canals during the industrial revolution, it's just incredible, when you consider the means that they had. But if the economic returns are there, it's feasible to do it. The Turks are just building a second canal at the moment to give greater control over it with no previous agreements like the current one has. Very clever.

      Approximately fifty ships per day travel through the canal, about 12 percent of total global trade at the time. For much of its length, however, the canal is not wide enough to allow two ships to pass each other; convoys of ships must take turns transiting these segments of the waterway. The canal would have to be widened and deepened. The time it would take to do means that no ships/trade can pass along the route..... That is another reason to build a new canal. Which serves more than one purpose!!!

Here, they could pump sea water to strategically built holding ponds to distribute thru the system.

    And this is one of reasons that IRAN is attacking Israel. The extended canal system from one open sea throught to the other will be an incredible asset. The Iran army Hamas is attacking Israel because they want to do a land grab and take control of Israel/Palentine/Gaza to do exactly the same. Finish the canal and have absolute control of access and use.

      A land grab by secular Zionists was how Israel was created under the pretense it was the the Jewish homeland.
      This video failed to mention that large gas and oil fields lie off the shores of Gaza. Now that the Nord pipeline has been destroyed in Ukraine this would enable Israel to supply Europes energy needs. This is why the Palestinians had be removed from Gaza. Zionists never wanted to share this wealth with the Palestinians.

    Totally favor it. The Suez is a very busy canal. More capacity is needed. However, the canal should be 20 meters deeper, not 10. The reason Everygreen got stuck was because of suction caused by a deep draft. You need a deeper canal to make sure that doesn't happen here and never will as ships get bigger and bigger, as they surely will. Think about the benefit of a cargo vessel capable of having two more layers of containers below decks. The Ben Gurion canal would be a major boost to international trade and Israel both. I, for one, wouldn't mind seeing the US providing 100% funding for it in exchange for fifty years of unlimited rights for passage of US military vessels that could otherwise be blocked from traversing the Suez. That would make the project much more palatable for Israel and its people, not having to pay for the project but reap all the benefits.

    A joint Israel Saudi project makes sense and would allow the Saudis to assure Egypt they will be protected and still receive their share of shipping. The Saudis also have good engineers and financial backing. The new canal will only cost 5% of the cost of the new $1T Saudi super city in current planning. And, an Israel, Saudi, Egypt, Jordan alliance would be a good check to control the Iranian terror state.

    I've seen variations on this before. This is definitely about bypassing the China Belt And Road Initiative. This section of the Initiative is a joint effort between Russia, Iran and China. It intends to bypass Western influence and countries that are friendly to Israel. Saudi Arabia is a crucial part of it because either the Western Belt or the China Belt must pass through SA. Much of the hostility right now in the middle east is not really about religion or about the Palestinian plight. It's about money. The Houthi's and Hamas started all of this at Iran's direction. It intends to cause so much conflict so that Saudi Arabia will side more with Iran. The Houthis can easily blow up Saudi oil infrastructure so this is a precarious moment for the region. The Abraham accords are meant to get Saudi Arabia on the side of the west. Israel was making good diplomatic progress with SA. So now all of this trouble places that in jeopardy. Iran is at the heart of it all. If you want to get a real feel for this, check out the Tom Nash Report here on YT. It's fascinating.
