That ending metaphor about the house, that was (almost) literally how I let people treat my house when I was very young, I also was a "nice guy" who would allow people to dictate my time, and would always try to accommodate awful dates in my life.
I have, mostly, self respect now, I am still eager to make people happy, but on mutually beneficial terms.. And no one uses my floor as a bathroom!
