  • 🐓Chicken recipes are my most favorite thing to make in Instant Pot, especially this one ❤. This Instant Pot Whole Chicken comes out juicy, flavorful, crispy and so tender, even the breast. Instant Pot Whole Chicken is the most easy rotisserie chicken you will ever make with 5 minutes prep in your pressure cooker.

    Thanks for this video. Watching your young man devour that chicken at the end of your video was all I needed to see 😂. I’ll be canning some chicken for the first time using my instant pot to cook the chicken and I was looking for a good recipe 👍🏾

    I just made this and it was very good! Moist and tasty (I went heavier on the spices). That last tip about putting it under the broiler was perfect. This was my 2nd instant pot attempt. The 1st (overly ambitious with pot roast) was doomed as our neighborhood lost power for 4 hours in the middle of cooking! Looking forward to trying more of your recipes. Thank you!

    You can also saute the chicken for several minutes on both sides to brown the skin before cooking it in the instant pot.

      I did quick pressure release have way through the natural release process because I was nervous😜. Thank you.

    Question: When I cook a whole chicken following the recipe and use a natural release - and then check the temperature - it comes out about 140 F. I am concerned that it is not done - or does the temp go down while releasing naturally - and it is OK? - Thanks!

    • @ifoodreal
      @ifoodreal  4 года назад +1

      I would cook it a bit longer. T doesn’t go down during natural release.

    • @stevenolmstead
      @stevenolmstead 4 года назад +1

      @@ifoodreal Thanks. I cooked 1/2 chicken (~ 2lbs) last night - used 1 cup of broth at High pressure for 20 minutes - natural release. I checked the temperature and it read 140F - which by all recommendations is too low. Seems like most recipes call for 6 minutes per lb - which means a 12 minute cook time- but even though I added some extra time - it still was not done. Thoughts?

    • @ifoodreal
      @ifoodreal  4 года назад +1

      Maybe your thermometer is not working properly... I honestly don't know what is the issue with your chicken as it always cooks for me. Hard to tell from here.

    • @stevenolmstead
      @stevenolmstead 4 года назад +1

      @@ifoodreal Well - that could be the problem for sure. Maybe I will try a new one and see. Thanks so much for your help!

      @@stevenolmstead maybe allow your bird to reach room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking.
      As long as the chicken is cooked within 2 hours of being removed from refrigeration it's all good.
      I made the mistake of putting a 2 kilogram chicken straight into the pressure cooker for 25 minutes and it wasn't cooked enough.

      @ifoodreal  Год назад

      Thank you for watching! Yes - you can still eat it after taking it out of the Instant Pot without broiling it, it just will be soft and tender and not crispy because the instant pot doesn’t crisp :D

    is 3lb about the biggest size you can comfortably cook in the instant pot?

    • @ifoodreal

      No. 6 quart will hold up to 6 lbs bird. 8 quart even bigger.
