  • I've modded this Mesa Boogie Lonestar classic 2x12. I've rebuilt the distortion channel and put the eq after the distortion, it has a lot more gain and is a lot more dynamic with better string separation after this mod. I've changed the circuitry for the thick/normal/thicker-switch, it now changes the amount of bottom into the distortion instead of the frequency range for the treble control. The clean channel also got a few tweaks and is more open sounding and the presence circuit is changed for a more musical response.
Guitar straight into the amp, using the reverb in the amp.
    Guitar: Greco EGF1000
    Speakers: Celestion C90 Black Shadow
Mics: Golden Age R1 mkIII, Tascam DR-40

Remind me a lot of a tonemaster, would play some foofighters track with that amp! Nice playing and work has always!

If you’re referring to.. fenders new tone master amps... it sounds nothing like that.... way more presence in the Mesa and more gain than you’ll ever get from that imo

Are these mods tricky? I have Lonestar 4x10, love it, but yeah, it could do with a tweak here and there.

I think it's a good mod for SOME people. But aren't you losing the signature lush qualities of the LSC? At this point, why not just get a amp more suited to this? It's not my type of sound, but I can see many players liking this better.
