Enjoyed this very much! Love your playing!
Beautiful playing! Made them all sound great!
Thank you !
Your playing makes all these amps sound great!
chrisamerriman thanks for the nice words 🙏
Categoria ....MAESTRU ! Mulțumesc , Marius !
Thank U, very well done !
Amp ca amp...da chop-urile alea pe pentatonica sunt geniale. Ai feeling, my man! 😎
Merci frumos :)
This guy could make any amp sound special.
Fender for clean sounds rules. Beautiful sounds and play Man👏
Nice playing. The Lone Star might be boogies best clean sound. Had one for 5 years
Very nice demo! Great playing. I was actually impressed with the Twin as a pedal platform! I guess Fender tone has been hard wired into our Rock n Roll DNA? After that, my ear kept being peaked by the Lone Star.
druwk thanks for listening and thanks for the feedback :)
Really enjoyed that! Can you do a video taking the Lonestar Special through its power settings and stages from clean to high gain? Regardless, I enjoyed your playing and the interesting comparisons.
Louis Garbi thanks for the feedback.is lonestar special your favorite from this video? In time i will create a video with each amp :) Lonestar special sounds great but you really have to blend the overdrive with a ts 808 or a bbpreamp for a creamy sound
@@MariusPopGuitar - Yes, I like the Special. However, I enjoyed the sound of them all.
Twin reverb rules!!!
Egor Marachev true :)
Suena cojonudo!!👍
i'm a boogie fan, though have to admit, the fender sounds amazing for the style. very classy.
Scott Mac thanks for the feedback.I am a boogie fan to as you can see:)
This guy making all amps sound good.
Mihai Sorohan thanks for the nice words bro :)
yes i agree but those amps are very good, all of them
Mesa Lonestar Classic
Misael Cruz thanks for the feedback
Absoluteley 👍🏻
I love my MBC 212
I have the special and the classic and gig with both. Both are killer amps
Yes yes ❤️
I'm partial to the Express. It's got a slight "punch" that sets it apart. Heh, maybe because I own one.
Lonestar for sure
martymcfly002 classic or special?
To me, the Twin Reverb sounds the best across all gain ranges. They were once the "industry standard" for a reason!. You can do any gig with a Twin Reverb. Second? Probably the Lone Star Special. Not bad sounding, but missing the shimmer of the Twin. The others, not my thing. Nice demo though and great playing!
superreverbking thanks for listening, thanks for the nice words and feedback :)
Love my fender twin but I’ve been looking for a fat overdrive tone (as in Santana). What pedals would you recommend?
I had my doubts, but the Fender carries all the character and attributes the soul needs to speak what I needs to say.
This cat is so f**king good I would've bought any one of those amps based on his playing. WOW. Can anyone tell me where to find the players that can play this stuff these days. Killer funk/Texas blues NEVER get's old. But, few people play it anymore. I'm glad I stumbled across this guy.
Thanks for the nice words 🙏
@@MariusPopGuitar You should put something out on CD with nothing but this style. You're killer at it. 👍 P.S. The Boogie California Tweed would've been the perfect amp for this demo (IMO). I'm not a Boogie fan, but for certain styles, they're incredible, particularly that amp.
Great playing! Which scales did you use in the chromatism in your playing? I want to get out of pentatonics, and solo kinda “jazzy” like on this video.
Thanks for listening.I remember using Mixolydian, Lydian Dominat, Half Whole scale, Whole Tone, Superlocrian mode
Lonestar Classic...HANDS DOWN!
Superb playing dude , which off the amps do you over all prefer
Thanks.Hard to decide 😅.I have moments when I feel that the Lonestar clasic is the one, but I really love lonestar special too, not to mention that when I really need vintage tones (with low gain) I miss the twin reverb :) I might be a gear freak
I should do an amp review like this. A Boogie S O B-60/100w, a pro tube Twin 60/100w, a Lab Series L5 100w S S. Would be fun.
ENGL is the most versatile from jazz to higain, and durable too which last longer...
Lonestar Special!
Thanks for the feedback. It is a great amp indeed:)
I'll take the Twin. You carry it...
I’m using a fender twin but I’ve been looking for a fat overdrive tone (as in Santana). What pedals would you recommend?
From my experience with pedals you have this options : Jhs at+, strymon sunset, Jetter gainstage gold, Mesa Boogie flux drive, Mesa Boogie flux 5, Bb preamp. From this list I prefer the first 2
@@MariusPopGuitar awesome! I think I’ll try the Mesa boogie flux 5 first. Thx so much!
@@bluesnaggletooth1660 try using an Ibanez tube screamer together with the flux 5. It helps fatten the tone as well as more sustain
Hey Marius! Do you think Screamer is a good choice for its money? Especially when planning to play Extreme-like music style.
Misza hello Misza.I think engl screamer is a great choice and it was not really cheap when I bought it.As you can see I have gear that sounds vintage, I love vintage sounds but sometimes like you just said engl does the extreme like sound.I play also Djent and that’s the point where engl makes the difference. My conclusion? Engl can do vintage and modern, it is an versatile amp and in terms of vintage it is just a matter of taste of someone will say”twin reverb” or “mesa lonestar” is the best.My amps are like my kids, I cannot love one more than another.I love all of them :)
@@MariusPopGuitar Thank you very much. I was considering replacing my Marshall TSL for a long time now and I think I finally found a successor ;) Cheers!
Twin Reverb is the King of Clean -The Lonestar Special sounds
Compressed
kool breeze thanks for listening
I'm quite baffled from the differences between the lonestar special and classic. If I remember correctly the only difference should be on the power amp configuration, which doesnt' justify such a huge difference in tone. Maybe they were run on different gain/tone settings? All tones are excellent by thg way, such a great collection of amps.
Thank you 🙏 I think that the speaker is the difference. In lonstar special I’ve got a Eminence GA-SC64
I own a twin and a lonestar along with a few other amps and they are both stellar. I lean towards the lonestar for its versatility but I will never sell either. I will say I have the lonestar in a head so it’s more convenient and the twin is seriously a pig. It is heavy!!!
I never would take it to a gig because it’s brutally loud and heavy… but equally awesome. Both amps in combo form literally have to have wheels
😂😂😂
reliability wise there is no contest the twins survive while mesa amps need a mesa lab to go with them. if it's for studio/home use of one user who knows not to flip to tweed mode by mistake every time while turning off, and likes that empty hollow sterile sound than ok but on the road mesa fails and all the mini toggle switches are like landmines in the dark, the amps weigh more and it's much more difficult to dial in a tone for the first time .the fender custom modified 68(mexican silverface with a bassman tone stack for the left channel) sound much better than 65ri and offer more versatility and a more balanced tone but suffer from noise issues after a while. so from my experience it's better to get a used mark 4 or a 90's used twin ri than new lonesters or twins. but if you have no choice and you are stuck with a new lonestar: 1.try using the bottom channel for clean since the amp is lacking so much midrange with single coil pickups 2.always use the wheels to move the amp never take them apart 3. put a mullard i63 preamp tube at v1 at least. 4.carry extra fuses 5.never use it on daytime gigs /hot climate it overheats easily never turn off the fan.6.use the el34 option with mese el34 tubes it sounds much better and less sterile
yaniv yaniv thanks for the advice, there is a lot of useful information here :) i have NOS preamp tubes in mesa lonestar special and in mesa lonestar classic, there are mullard from the 60’.My next step is to put some NOS in twin too
Great playing and demo Marius!! And, which amp do you prefer? I hear the twin so nice, and lone star special, but the live situation isn´t the same that youtube audio quality! I wanna know your opinion, please. Thanks!
Alejo Martínez thanks man :) to be honest i am confused, sometimes i feel that twin is the kind, other times i love Lonestar Special because sounds like a tweed, and those 2 i am using if I am in a Fender mood. I love the love Lonstar Classic, the drive is so creamy.I didn’t expect the Mesa express to sound that good( that’s the reason I changed my mind not to sell it after this video) in comparison with all amps.Engl for me has a nice clean and if i am in a Marshall mood, the drive is perfect for that. The live situation is not so different than the studio, that’s the reason I used only one mic, sennheiser e 906, the same as in live situation. Now in live gigs i am using 2 lonestar classic wet-dry and i have to admit that the sound is amazing for 2 reasons, 1- the preamp tube are NOS from the Mullard from 60’s and 2 there’s always better to have more than one amp with a noisy drummer :)
@@MariusPopGuitar you should try nos preamp tubes on all your amps. people think it's so complicated but it's not really.
Nice riffing. They all sound the same. But they sure look nice.
Thank you for listening!
It's a toss up between the twin and the lonestar classic I'd say I prefer the lonestar but if you want a little more chimey action go for the fender!!!! great playing dude!!!!
Audio Fella thanks a lot 🙏
Lonestar classic and Twin sound equally good!
Love to hear this without the pedals.
Thom Knott 🤘🤘🤘
Fast forward 2 years later.
now this LoneStar is Discontinued .
Why?
Well I heard because certain Parts were hard to get for this particular amp?
Anyone ?
what Parts are hard to get?
HOW will that affect current owners of a lonestar?
WHAT IF A PLAYERS LONESTAR AMP NEEDS SOME SPECIFIC REPAIRS ?
WILL THE AMPS SOUND CHANGE BECAISE OF THAT HARD TO FIND PART ISNT AVAILABLE?
I HAVE A LONESTAR SPECIAL AND really want A lonestar CLASSIC
Just worried about those parts thay aren't available anymore as of he can't build new lonestar amps without these parts
Someone Seriously Please Reply to my Question !
Much Appreciated!
Cheers!
Cheers!
I am curious what parts are hard to find.I don’t think so :)
Bring it to the Mesa forums. There will be answers there from fellow owners.

Yes yes, could be a solution:)
