I feel like Sid really just runs around onstage and that's his job. Like how craig just had bangs and rocks back and forth untill he needs to hit a couple keys on his keyboard and that's his job
Sid and Craig actually do a lot of stuff contributing to the songs. Scratches can be heard in the mixes all over the place and there are lots of Syths parts.
It's true that their sound is not as in your face as the guitars and drums are but they are definitely noticeable and important to the sound.
Alot of what Craig does masks and blends in with the guitars.
Take both Craig and Sid out and there would be a noticeable difference to the sound of the tracks. Some are more noticeable.

Craig also acts kinda lika a producer/engineer on studio, so his job is really more in the background of the band

Sid definitely does quite a bit. Sure his parts may not feature throughout all tracks or be noticed on a first listen, so he isn't required to constantly be with his instrument and can get up to his on stage antics. But his DJing can really be heard throughout Slipknot songs and he does do his parts live. Listen to sic again, you can heavy hear him playing, the sounds and his scratches are some of what gives Slipknot's tracks that spooky, distorted, unique sound.
Craig though, tbh I've never looked into what he does.. I know he does keyboard bits and is the sampler, but idk what a sampler is/does. I just assumed he was essentially mixing the songs like the sound guy would normally do off stage but they have him on stage instead. If that is what he's doing, it's pretty important. Or is that not at all what he's doing? 😂 Someone let me know
But yeah I guess some could say their roles are more background or more entertainment/imagery 🤷

@@Gosmoke. They're younger. Haven't been doing it for as long. Which translates to a better, more deeper scream. Cory is almost 50 years old. He's been doing this type of music and this form of singing for nearly three decades. Of course his scream isn't going to be nearly as good as the screamer for a relatively new & young band/frontman.
No disrespect to TAIM, but they don't hold a candle to Slipknot and likely never will.
@@JdDiehl Honestly, there are no bands that are mainstream now, which could match the intensity from first two Slipknot records with Taylor. Mainly Iowa and how it was pissing on music industry, or how analog-like self titled sounds.

Saw them in 2019 all in white and they were just tired and the concert was very boring. Saw them 2 weeks ago in Chicago and it was an EPIC event. Killswitch Engage was awesome. Fever 333 played without a guitarist. Code Orange was an experience! Great time, way better than I expected based upon my last trip to see them.
