Prasanna is the teacher of Maya Neelkantan, the 10 year old guitar prodigy who blew everyone away on America’s Got Talent a couple weeks ago.

full credit to the composer and every musician - each sound has its place and room to breath and the mixing is PERFECT.. with a good set of headphones, this is super enjoyable.

"music is music no matter where you go" Well said, Doug. Whenever I get weary of my playlist, I just travel by space and/or time to another place. Great to learn of this ensemble. Thanks, Doug.

I've been waiting so long for you to get round to this. Glad you finally got to it. Love the way Prasanna manages to make the guitar sound almost sitar like in places with the slides he pulls off.

I don't remember exactly how I came across this wonderful clip by A. R. Rahman and the Berklee Indian Ensemble. It was the first time I discovered Mohini Dey, who has been inspiring me with her music ever since.

It's important to remember that Indian music is taught by rote. All players learn percussion using Konnokol. They must be able to vocalize the pattern they are going to play. Instrumentalists must sing what they are playing my singing the solfege for the raga.

Hi Doug. I know almost nothing about music.I like listening to it but don't know much about what makes it "special". I like your channel for many reasons and one of them is for introducing me to some music I would have otherwise never known. This was a great example. Thank you.

Longtime follower here Doug. I really think you should do a listen through of something by Prasanna’s songs. His style of playing is something that’s never been done before in guitar playing itself. He’s created his own niche by his playing style by combining Carnatic music and rock and jazz. Ragabop is a go-to song of his I think you will love as an educator of your musical intellect.

    Mohini day.
Is a seriously great bass player. She actually had 2 melodic lines going at the same time. Much like as can be found in some box works for solo violin. My.
Idiot voice to text grimlin has apparently never heard of j. S Bach. That's what I meant. I.
Have never heard such absolute virtuosity before. The thing that impresses me the most is that it is true based plan. All too Often, do you supposed virtuosity virtuosity of bass players? Is really nothing more than league. Guitar player transposed down an octave. But Mohini is supporting the percussion and the ribbon. At the same time, she is laying down these incredible melodies on the base. Thank you for opening my eyes to this truly wonderful player.

i know this isn't 100% related to the song at hand, but i think you might find the song "we want to run" by edm artist Frums to be interesting; it's a piece they made to prove that a melancholy song doesn't have to be slow, and it's one of my favorite pieces of theirs

I think Mohini Dey (who Beato interviewed) is also on the Empathogen album by Willow which has 2 songs in 7/4 including the breakthrough "Symptom of Life", The whole album is great with jazzy harmonic and rhythmic complexities.
Also, you haven't reacted to much Jacob Collier but a song on DJesse Vol 4 called "A Rock Somewhere" has lots of Indian and raga influence including sections with the Ravi Shankar's daughter playing sitar and an Indian singer. The other popular tune on the album is the cover of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" with Yebba, John Legend and Tori Kelly in the recorded version or with John and Tori in the recent version live from L.A. But his "All Night Long" with Take 6. is still a fave.
We could also always use some more Snarky Puppy, Dirty Loops, Chris Thiele and Steely Dan.

You are all of European Caucasian origin , so your Music schools must teach European music exclusively or majorly focus on it , what is wrong with that ? There was a famous British writer Rudyard Kipling, who will serving in India came up with the quote “ OH, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet”……this is Gods plan
