Before our cruise to the Greek isles and Italy, my wife and I had lunch and dinner... Lunch was a slice of pizza each and Espresso...wonderful...dinner we had a Italian meat platter which was amazing and Pasta...If there is anything better then pizza in Italy, It is silky smooth pasta, The best I have ever had. The pasta carbonara we also had...absolutely WONDERFUL.

Again a great episode. You do have a very nice way of showing us this beautiful city. We're coming to Rome in April and booked an apartment a few meters fron "Zi Umberto" so I was more than happy to see that this is one of your favorite restaurants. I am getting so hungry now. We will try to make "your" carbonara these days - grazie per i tuoi sforzi 🙂
Great video, and delicious suggestions! We are going to Rome for a week in September and staying in Trastevere. We are wondering if there are any more restaurants that you would recommend in this area? Also, it is would be interesting if you would say what the cost of your meals are in your videos if you are comfortable doing so. Thanks!
You mentioned needing to make reservations. Is this the case even during the week or just during the weekends? We're looking at going late September. Thanks so much

I'll be there in a few weeks with my family, and I've been watching your videos, thank you for all the tips. is there an App to make restaurant reservations?
Thank you so much for your informative videos! I learn so much from you! I notice you have a green bottle of water at most of the places you eat. How do you order this big bottle of water? We will be in Rome in May/23. Thanks!
Great helpful videos about Rome and Italy! I'm going to Rome in a few days and you're saying (as well as other travellers) that it's necessary (or better) to book a table in advance. Is it done by phone? I don't speak Italian, so it may be a problem, if they don't speak English. And one more question - how punctual must I be, if I book a table?
Hello Viola, thank you for your comment. Almost all restaurants they have someone that speaks a little English so you can book over the phone. Regarding punctuality depends on the restaurant some are very strict others are very very lenient so ask them when you reserve.
You video is informative and entertaining, however, as we are only spending four days in Rome it would be helpful if you could show alternative restaurants to ones you have to book six weeks in advance. Ciao.
In italy usually we don't eat fettuccine Alfredo, but we eat pasta with butter and parmesan when there's nothing in the fridge or when we are ill. There are lots of good gelaterie in Rome, not only Giolitti.
An important thing to note about food in Rome is that the cheese most often used in dishes like carbonara is pecorino Romano as opposed to parmigiana. I was delighted to discover this because while I am very sensitive to cow milk and all cow milk products, which parmigiana is, pecorino Romano is a sheep milk product that I tolerate quite well! I thought I would be very limited in my menu choices in Rome, but found I wasn’t!
Oh wow thanks for saying that. I was watching and thinking “I can’t eat anything 😢😢” Any recommendations for lactose intolerant people, who don’t like spicy lol
eh eh le polpette con la pasta in Italia non ci sono, mangiamo la pasta oppure le polpette. E' vero che in qualche paese si possa trovare polpetta con pasta ma è un eccezione
Zi Umerto is pretty expensive. I don’t mind paying well for good food but for a place that charges 2 Euros for salt and vinegar, naaa. Mi scusi signore Umberto ma non pago mai per il sale. 😅
You didn't pay for the vinegar, you paid for the service, or cover charge, which means bread, etc. In Italy there is this wrong custom of charging 1 or 2 euros per person for this. An Italian tells you
Due to your video, we ate at Il Umberto in the Trastevere. It was the best meal we had in Rome and Florence. Thanks guys!
Thank you we are really happy you liked it! 😁
Another fantastic video! We are staying in Trastevere this fall!
Thank you Jackie! You'll love it there and we hope you'll try some of the food in the video!

One of my favorite restaurants I found when I was in Rome is called Emma pizzeria, amazing pizza and reasonably priced!
Thank you Bobby for the suggestion 👌
Yeahh scarpetta !! As a real italian !!!nice👍👍🇮🇹👍👍🍝

Hello, we are currently in rome. What a busy and wonderful city. It is sheer overwhelming. I do think „Zi“ Umberto had moved to another location.
Liked your suggestions in local food and local restaurant. Looking forward to more videos in local restaurants.
Thank you Eric 🙏
These are tourist restaurants though
Just returned from Rome ! Awesome city ! Great cuisine !
Thank you 🙏
Everything looks so yummy.
It was yummy! 😃
Can you do on on 'how to order' in a cafe, lunch and dinner? Manners, ettiquette, phrases
We can do that! Thank you for the suggestion.
I second this! Excited to be traveling to Rome soon but I have great anxiety about how to behave in a restaurant. 🥲
@l.l.203 I do not eat like an animal but any information so I'm not offending anyone or making a fool out of myself is a win-win.

Thank you Sharon for your comment. In Trastevere we also love Rona Sparita and Checco er carrettiere. Usually we pay around 25-30 euros per person 👍🏻
You mentioned needing to make reservations. Is this the case even during the week or just during the weekends? We're looking at going late September. Thanks so much
At good restaurants even during the week
I have to say, I love Andrea's blue golf shirt at the start of the video.
Thank you 😊
Hello, can you please tell me if the tip is already included or if not, how much do we tip?
Yes tip is always included 😃you can also watch our video about tipping in Italy To Tip Or Not To Tip? The Ultimate Guide To Tipping In Italy!

@@TravelAddictsLife Thank you.
you make me so hungry!!!
Glad to hear 😀
How can I make a reservation at Zi Umberto ?? They don’t have a website ! I’m going in June and will mention your names. Thanks !
The only way is to call
I'll be there in a few weeks with my family, and I've been watching your videos, thank you for all the tips. is there an App to make restaurant reservations?
Thank you 🙏 unfortunately no there is no app to make reservations you need to call
im going in 5 days! :)
Let us know how you like it 😃
Love your videos! You mentioned making reservations for the restaurants. Do they have websites that we can access from US before our trip?
Unfortunately most restaurants don't have websites for reservations. You will have to call them.
I have a few days solo in Rome before joining a group in the Dolomites. Question: Can one make a restaurant reservation if a solo diner?
Yes you can make reservations as a solo no problem
What’s good in the San Giavanni area?
There is an excellent restaurant not far from there “da Felice al Testaccio”
@@TravelAddictsLifethank you. First time traveler going solo. Curious about the area I’m staying in.
La differenza è nella materia prima, la pasta fresca, la cottura e i pochi ingredienti magistralmente coordinati fanno la differenza.
Certamente 👍🏻
Thank you so much for your informative videos! I learn so much from you! I notice you have a green bottle of water at most of the places you eat. How do you order this big bottle of water? We will be in Rome in May/23. Thanks!
Just ask for a bottle of water either still or sparkling
@@TravelAddictsLife Thanks! Easy enough!
Can't share a pizza with my husband ?😂... but one pizza per person will be too much for us!😅
You can share a pizza, Italians don’t share it 👍🏻😁
Is it okay to share plates at a sit down restaurant(not a quick service like the train station or market place but at a venue that takes reservations)
Yes it is ok, no problem there
What is the best way to make reservations? Online , phone?
Usually phone
Thank you!

Just returned from Rome. Found the food very salty in Rome and Florence.
Sorry to hear you did not like it
"So if you're in Rome and your want some gelato come to ..." your turn Rick. 🙂
👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you guys for featuring a restaurant in Trastevere, I'll definitely be checking it out
Thank you Anita 🙏
They charge for “salt, oil and vinegar” pack.
You video is informative and entertaining, however, as we are only spending four days in Rome it would be helpful if you could show alternative restaurants to ones you have to book six weeks in advance. Ciao.
These aren’t good restaurants; however, during high season, you will have to book at least a few weeks in advance 😊

Hi Guys, was your first pizza al taglio at the airport?
Hey there, no it was at the train station
Can people smoke at outdoor restaurants??
At most restaurants yes you can. You need to ask
@@TravelAddictsLife yikes! How to ruin a meal if neighbors are smoking
@@TravelAddictsLife can people smoke indoors there? Wondering if I should cancel my trip?
