Thank you so much Giada! My husband and I are going to Italy next year for our 30th wedding anniversary and I am so excited. This is so helpful! You, Giada, are the reason I want to go to Italy. I watched your show, Giada in Italy on hgtv years ago and ever since have wanted to go. Thank you for all your great tips! 💗💗
I’m ITALIAN 🇮🇹as well!!!😊😃😁 My Husband & I have been married for 41 years!!! (Dated for 4 years). We’re going to Italy in October!!!🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹 It was definitely on my bucket list!!! Thank you for sharing!!!💚🤍❤️🇮🇹
Even more respect for Giada as she rocks the Pink Floyd T. Thanks for the tips Giada, my wife and I are planning a trip to Italy in September for her birthday, it’s a “bucket list” item for her.
Thank you for such a great video. I was raised in Europe (Spain) and the tips you mention do apply there too maybe with minor differences. Life over there is different, people really enjoy life and take time to savor every moment of it. I have never been to Italy but I know it is a very beautiful place and the people are wonderful. I am very happy to see you again. Have a wonderful day!
Looks like moths ate it. Yuck! When I was growing up if we had a tiny hole in our jeans it was EMBARRASSING! It was patched. Just looks ugly. Would you wear a suit with holes? Nope. Same for any shirt or pants.
Giada, A+++ and not just for being a Pink Floyd fan-----this segment is 100% correct! That bread made me want to catch the next plane out with family... scarpetta!
I’ve been to Italy multiple times. Many restaurants open at 7:00 In tourist cities such as Florence the restaurants open earlier. Enjoy Italy the people are wonderful
wow the pizza looked great, in New York we call it stand up pizza, when you fold it, it doesn't flop over lol, the only way, hot, hot, oven very quick, and out, Thank you I hope one day I can use your tips on how to eat in Italy. I haven't sat down to dinner in years, run,run ,run, plenty of stain sticks hahaha
I’m 3rd generation Italian, my grandparents immigrated from Italy. But I could never eat a big meal at 9pm and sleep in late in the mornings. I’d be a wreck. Lol! I guess lunch in Italy will have to be my main meal.
That’s pretty much what we do when we’ve gone to Egypt to visit family, and they have a somewhat similar schedule in that way, particularly in the summer when trying to beat the worst of the heat.
I miss Italy. I spent three years living in Gaeta as a kid. I would love to go back some day, to the neighborhood I lived in and see how much it’s change. I also want to go up to Florence I never got there
We talked about the pineapple with our Italian driver last year when visiting and she was appalled by the idea of that topping lol. She brought us to a restaurant in Sorrento, and on the menu.. pizza with pineapple.
@@cerliezio Nope! I have seen Italians both young and old eating it. My wife and I were looking for traditional Italian food in Rome and our personal guide took us to a restaurant with a wood fire place with "Porchetta" a whole pig roasting over the fire. Across from us were two tables from one family eating pizza and two of the pizzas were with pineapple. I mentioned this to my wife and said, "they're eating Canadian pizza". One of the kids turned around as he understood me and said something to his parents, whereupon the others looked in our directions and said, "è molto buono", with some of the older people giving us a thumbs up. I didn't know what they meant until I asked our guide later. Personally, we preferred the traditional dishes. We wanted to try the Porchetta, but it wasn't ready so we had carbonara with guanciale instead.
She's trying to tell you what Italians do. Any business will cater to unusual requests if there's a buck in it for them. They probably charged you extra for the disposable cup.
Lol..no one ever returned our tips, in fact they seemed awfully grateful.Come to think of it , neither did they in France Germany, Portugal or in England😊
Yeah I don't know where she eats, but we've always tipped in Italy. Maybe she's talking about really high end restaurants where it's included in the bill.
@@Coco-zu9ob No In any restaurant waiters are paid by the owner of the restaurant and not by the patrons. Yum! I was looking for easy healthy recipes for after my daughter in law has her surgery. Easy enough to bake them up and store in frig or freezer. Then she can just heat and eat when she wants.
I lived in italy for many years ,I'll take the liberty to add my two cents : Alot of this info is yes and no . Traditionally speaking and many years ago i would agree with Glada ,but so much has changed over the years till current times . Cappuccino drinking ; Yes its a morning drink and usually stops around 11 a.m., but they drink 15 expresso coffees threw out the day into the evening 😂🤪. Restaurant tipping: Everybody loves a tip , I always tipped and they immensely appreciate a tip . Food delivery: That's all we did last year on week days was order pizza delivery, pizza delivery is a common practice now . Weekends we go out. What else? Oh food on the run grab and go. In the city it's common to eat panninis ( sandwiches) on the go same with foccàcia ( mini pizza') on the go. Hawaiian pizza ; In italy they probably dont order ham and pineapple pizza but guess what i saw , pizza wirh cured ham and figs 😂😂 . That's there version of sweet and sour pizza . Basically italy has adopted alot of American customs, with the use of internet social media platforms face book , tic toc etc etc Italian traditions are becoming something of the past.
You can go to dinner as early as six even in Italy. The kids have to go to school the next morning in Italy too. You are right about the to go food. No such thing and therefore they don’t have mountains of garbage to dispose of.
I have a huge problem with what I've seen here concerning espresso in the morning. In my experience, in any larger city in Italy you step in, que up to the bar, order your espresso with or without an additional item, mix your sugar if you want, drink it and have a bite and then you're on your way. Only the elderly and tourists sit and enjoy their cafe.
A very famous Italian chef made the pineapple pizza and a lot of my Italian friends do enjoy it. Also it’s not a pineapple pizza it’s a Hawaiian pizza which means pineapples go with ham.
The absolute only thing you have to remember when in Italy is when you cook pasta break in in half, that way it fits into the pot to boil and that way its not too long so you don't have to twirl it on a fork you can just eat it much easier. Any real Italian already knows this and will never tell you because they figure everyone is taught this since birth
I’ve heard the no cappuccino thing many times before. I like cappuccino at any time of the day. I’m not that fussy about espresso …. The way I look at it is I am not Italian. I am on holiday. It’s obvious I’m a tourist when I’m there. I’m not interested in impressing anyone else while I am there. So, I will ask for cappuccino at 3 pm if that is what I want 🤷♀️
It's not accurate that they don't have food delivery in Italy. Unless I imagined all those DoorDash drivers on mopeds in Naples. The country is changing. They have Amazon now too. LOL.
Exactly. I don't know when she was in Italy last, but I've been there in recent times, and most sit down restaurants nowadays do expect a tip for a full meal service, not so much at cafés, maybe only a few cents that is left as change. And yes, takeout is common all across Europe too.
Don't put cheese on your pasta that contains fish such as pasta and shrimp, etc. Don't share your pizza. Don't expect stores to always be open and don't expect store to be closed for 20 minutes or an hour either. Don't order coffee with your meal. Don't wave your hand to hail a taxi.
@@Keyrose-my3xr thank you. And, as I thought. The north of Italy. French-Italians. Panettone-Italians. It explains why your italian friend from Italy adds cheese to a pasta dish with shellfish.
