Jerad your crushing it!! I like the different facets of knives you keep creating content for. Your tackling every aspect of a knife. Not just reviews and unboxings but sharpening to. keeping the content fresh and different. Didn’t think you were gonna drop today. My 3 Spyderco’s are the Manix 2XL, Shaman and the GB2! Hands down for me! My detent on my GB is soft to. I can definitely shake it out!
Definitely agree on the Shaman. I also have the Manix2XL and it has me wanting a regular Manix2 badly. I also really want a Smock. Something about it just makes me want it. Great picks.
I will eventually have to try a spyderco again. The only one I owned was way back in the 90s, and it did 2 things - soured me on the company and the product. Maybe now I might like the knife.
Great review, as always - thank you! Quick question... can you middle-finger flick the Techno 2 with your right hand, or is the hole too obscured by the lock bar?
I'm still kinda new to this knife game, but I was lucky enough to find a used Mannix2, just a couple miles from me, so I can't see handling a better knife. Yeah, I have a few Kershaw, SOG, CRKT and SAK's, but the Mannix2 doesn't leave my pocket. Great video...
I agree on the techno 2. Love that little knife, I like the smaller knives. I take it you haven’t ground down your Bradley yet. How do I get hold of you.? Can’t find your e-mail anywhere.
I don't know if the cage helps yet, because I haven't handled one with it, but I can tell you that the stiffness smooths out after awhile. I have 3 of them, and all three smoothed out after using it for 2 or 3 weeks. My best guess is the new ball cage won't make much if any difference in smoothing it out, because it's the spring tension, not the ball cage that would cause the stiffness.
The cage is a little more grippy but the spring is what makes it stiff you just have to keep opening and closing, and when you set it down open it a little so the sping gets compressed
I have about 10 manix’s and they are real stiff brand new. I always open them up half way when I go to sleep for about 2-3 days. It really expedites the ease of the lock.
Just got my m390 manix 2 and good god the bevels were so bad, around 12 degrees on one side and 16 on the other. Was going to keep as collector item but will be hard user instead 🙄🙄🙄
I don't seem to see many Spyderco Knives with the framelock so that makes it one of us the ones that would be great to use and carry. You could get a Delica 4 style clip for the Tecno 2.. Would it work. Spyder has nice trip to the FRN that helps it.
Did you do anything to decrease the stiffness of the lockback on your chaparral? Yours looks like it depresses pretty easily. I just got one and the lockback is crazy stiff. Doesn’t seem like use is going to loosen it much. Thanks!
I don't have kids but in the past I would hear people say that having too choose their favorite knife, gun, car, guitar or whatever you collect, own or are very passionate about is like having too choose a favorite child! I now see what they're talking about. Oh and on the Gail Bradley I think that is designed to have a very late lockup because he wanted a solid interface between the liner and the blade so there would be no accidental closing and have a very solid lockup. I know that it was built not to be a fidget knife but to be the best cutter that he could design with the size parameters up that knife everything is designed to do one thing and one thing only cut like a sumbitch
The REX Manix should be in my collection, I also have had the Manix XL on my list for a long time, are you going to sell the brass Manix? Maybe with different scales even?
Looking a at sales and other metrics (not easy to get btw) the 3 most popular are the PM 2/3, the Manix 2, the Dragonfly 2, and fighting it out closely for third the cheap Tenacious (due to the aftermarket parts market). Why the Dragonfly doesn't have a huge aftermarket parts scene is odd considering how many are in circulation. I found just one guy doing scales (C.F. & micarta) and not much else. A huge money maker waiting to be mined I think.
Of course personally for me it's Dragonfly, Tusk, Smock. Once the PM 2/3 is readily available in LC200N I would call it the king of EDC, due to availability of customizations and you need a user. I personally dont like them but I live near the ocean in the south. That means 90% plus salt air humidity, so corrosion resistance is of paramount importance.

Thick behind the edge, Tip is lot thicker bte than heel and most serious of the errors bearings..At least for me, it's the worst Spyderco I ever owned!!!PS You are not a user😁 It's just fidget pocket jewelry.. For me it's a tool.. Titanium and Brass scales? 😏 You've ruined the balance of the knife awww
😆 ok bud, you can tell yourself that but im a massive user, ive carried and been using a knife since i was 5 ive done construction for over 25 years, ive been using tools my entire life, im a carpenter thats worked in all kinds of construction from concrete to landscaping, custom windows in skyscrapers, to roofing in july, and siding in the winter, I love knives because they are tools, my favorite part about a knife is how it cuts, you must not have watched much of my videos or sharpening videos to come up with that conclusion, but what ever makes you feel better about yourself
