Yes, I agree. One thing I love about this version is that Robert Plant’s voice sounds SO much better here than in the ‘73 MSG version from The Song Remains the Same. Plant’s voice was damaged by 1973, with a lot less power and greatly diminished range. That’s a real tragedy, because his voice through 1971 was one of the absolute best instruments in all of rock. Here, in 1970, he is absolutely in prime form.
@@faizanmckagan2827I also REALLY like the way he sounds later in ‘70 in concert-around the time of LZ 3, when he’s really going for a lot of the high notes. Another one of my favorites is Copenhagen ‘71, with the only LZ live version of Four Sticks ever.
@@CliffinAZ yeah the opening song in royal Albert hall " were gonna groove" sends down chills my spine... That high tempo and bonzo's thunderstorm drums. Jimmy literally playing from his soul and jpj energy on that base... What a band man!
Since the live versions of Led Zeppelin's songs are often very different, with more improvisation, ad libbing, and longer solos, it's often fun and informative to compare them to the album versions
Zeppelin was the absolute best at designing durable hard-rocking riffs like the one in this song. They repeatedly took a brief but deeply engaging and expressive riff like this and built entire songs around it -- elevating rhythmic repetition to a nearly melodic level. And if I had to pick the greatest rock vocalist from the 70s, it would have to be Robert Plant. An opera singer ought to really appreciate this era in rock because the vocals are so over-the-top dramatic. This was a time of enormous anxiety, esp in the US, where growing awareness of -- and disgust with -- racial injustice, imperialist warfare, and empty materialism utterly obliterated the comfortable complacency of the postwar era. That anxiety found expression in rock music, which took on a turbulent, even violent tone, most notably in bands like Led Zeppelin and The Who. By the way, you should definitely check out The Who's iconic "Won't Get Fooled Again" which includes the greatest scream of anguish in music history, by Roger Daltrey, another fabulous vocalist from this era.

The moment this song came on the radio in 1969 it was a car stopping moment, it was the lead song off their classic 2nd album, which set a standard for hard rock and heavy blues that was never topped, just evolved. This led off side one, Heartbreaker, another all time Zeppelin banger leads off side 2 in just as an amazing opening as this one and contains one of Jimmy Page's best solos. That whole album is worth a listen, as is 99% of their catalog. Amazing band, enjoy the journey! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
I was a little to young to see Led Zeppelin perform live in concert, but I did see Robert Plant in concert. I was 20ish at the time but the stadium was filled with mostly 35-45 year olds, reliving their youth of the 60s & 70’s. The music was great but my biggest memory was the beginning of the concert. The lights went out, to start the show, and the lights came on, but it wasn’t lights, it was the majority of the crowd with lighters all taking a few seconds to light “something” up at the same time. How times have changed with laws, security and searches since then.

(The late) Drummer John Bonham of Led Zeppelin was such a remarkable talent 🤘🤘 His drumming was powerful, heavy, fluid and musical ... all at once! Zeppelin's engineers recalled that Bonham would finish his drum parts in the studio in 1 or 2 takes... he and bassist John Paul Jones were one of the greatest rhythm sections of all time... John Bonham was terrific on Zeppelin's recordings... and he was even more impressive in concert - his drum solo on 'Moby Dick' was a highlight of Led Zeppelin's shows... He would even play the drums w/ his bare hands at some point and if he cut himself on the rims, he would bleed all over his kit and still not miss a beat! Sadly, he had a major problem w/ alcohol abuse... and he was nicknamed 'Bonzo' or 'The Beast' offstage because when he was drunk, he could get ripped and violent... When John Bonham died of alcohol asphyxiation in 1980, Led Zeppelin refused to carry on without him because he was "irreplaceable"... 😪 There was just nobody who could replace him or play like him...

@@AaliyahCapili You're welcome! Just thinking: this song is pretty... graphic.. for a young woman your age. But it does showcase the hippie years. Pls don't think of it as sexual harresment. Not meant to be that way! Just to understand, what was possible "on stage" @ that point of time. I'm german. US was always much different, when it comes to sexuality. Little story: at a concert of "Dr. Hook and the medicine show" in Denmark, some girls in the audience showed her boobs. In reaction to that, the singer stripped completey naked. They finished the show like that. Cultural differnces. Just wanted to point that out.
Please react to the Live version of Stairway To Heaven from Madison Square Garden 1973. This is one of the most iconic and probably the greatest rock n roll song ever recorded.

This live recording is a little rough. A more dramatic song of theirs was this one used in Thor and elsewhere. ruclips.net/video/zJ9dFeZ5344/видео.html
Not to be crude, but I think you caught it -- he was emulating having an orgasm. He ad libs for sure. The whole band does -- they have rough structure of all their songs and go out and improvise every night. The same song is played differently every show. ❤ They were simply amazing. We were all blown away like you are - when we first heard them too. Great reaction again ❤
Okay, so, there's a BIG problem with this song. It was written by Delta Blues man Willie Dixon in the 1950s titled: 'You Need Love.' It was first recorded by Muddy Waters in 1963 (with awesome keyboards), and released by Chess Records -- with credit to Dixon (ruclips.net/video/WoqR7ztdTCg/видео.html). The Small Faces did a cover -- with credit to Dixon -- and a couple of other bands, too in the 1960's -- again, with full credit. Dixon's estate sued Led Zeppelin, and after years of litigation, they won. Later, Robert Plant said with a blank look in those blue eyes: "Jim came up with a great riff, we changed some words, and 'Bob's your uncle.' The man should have been paid, and he wasn't -- end of story." Not quite. Dixon died in 1992, broke and impoverished, when he should have been paid huge royalties over decades. They also ripped off the term 'back-door man' from another Dixon recording of the same title. Plant tried to justify it by saying their manager, Peter Grant, took care of all the business -- but they knew they hadn't credited Dixon and continued to fight long after Grant was gone. Jimmy Page never made any kind of comment or apology 😐. It's really sad that people of their talent wouldn't give credit where due. And it's not the only song they stole...

And yeah I agree with the other fella you should hear the studio recorded LPs.
Thanks again for the recommendation
For the time the lyrics are quite spicy!
😊😊😊

😍
Great classic SONG ...LONG LIVE ROBERT PLANT JIMMY PAGE
😍😍😍
It takes a cold heart to not respect Zep. The music is profound and is high energy stuff. Absolutely dynamic.
🌺
You should check out the entire video at Madison Square Garden called "The Song Remains the Same"
Thanks for the recommendation Mr. Robert
Aaliyah, it’s cool. Been watching reaction videos for a few years, but this track transports 99% of women to a rock ecstasy.
Some pretend they don’t get it, but end up grooving the vibe. Others get it early and vibe straight away.
Can’t think of any song that has the same effect on men.
Maybe Donna Summer.
Great reaction.

That's the way I sing in the shower well- maybe not when I'm going into King Soopers? Maybe not when I'm watching Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz yeah yeah I think that's it!
🥰
You might find The Who's A Quick One While He's Away on the Rolling Stones Rock & Roll circus interesting

Aaliyah,
I was at one of your other videos of Led Zeppelin. I mentioned their acoustic work. The Rain Song with an orchestra is a good one. SO I located one I think you will enjoy -- the Rain Song!! On a side note, what do you think this song is about??? Very many songs from this era spoke about sex. As this one does!!!! Plus the musical talent is top-shelf!!!! As usual Roberts hair is killer!!!! Great team work, you bet your last dollar!!!!!!....... Lust?? who knew!!!! Kidding!!!!
Oh thank you for always watching and for your recommendation too. Hope i can be able to check it out soon 🌺
Plant was about 21 at the time of this concert.
🥰
I think you'd like Dave Byron from Uriah Heep - maybe Come away Melinda?

Hi Aaliyah: once you're up this alley (don't know if this is legal, minding your age)
A song from the early 7ties. A band from Greece. Aphrodite's Child. Guest singer Was Irene Papas. One of the few greek actors to ever
make it to Hollywood.
The song is named "Infinity". Just found it: Infinity; Irene Papas ; Aphrodites child
schould get you there.
The Guns of Navarone

Just wanted to point that out.
more Zeppelin please lol.... i can give you 60 to 70 to react to :-)
I will definitely do😍😍😍
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
🥰🥰🥰
Please react to the Live version of Stairway To Heaven from Madison Square Garden 1973. This is one of the most iconic and probably the greatest rock n roll song ever recorded.
😍😍😍
My generation
🥰🥰🥰
lots of times the audience did the song with Plant
🥰🥰🥰
Great reaction. Would love to see your reaction on John Farnham's live version of "Help" by the Beatles, you won't regret it.
Thanks for sharing💕
I enjoy your reactions. I strongly recommend you do great gig in the sky by pink Floyd. You will not be disappointed
Thanks so much💕

This live recording is a little rough. A more dramatic song of theirs was this one used in Thor and elsewhere.

Jimmy rocking the Theremin.

Hey could I suggest Suite Maddam blue from Styx
Thanks for your suggestion
@@AaliyahCapili you're welcome

I had the privilege of growing up during the most creatively talented music was being made. It was a moment in time that I lived but didn't realize it would end.
Its not there best version of this song. Everytime they do a live song it's different. Robert and Jimmy play off of each other.. I am a Led zeppelin expert. You want to see there real skill check out. "Since I been loving you" 1973 live at Madison square garden.. Every person should watch that performance once In there life. My late wife was at that concert...RIP Baby.
