He built some homemade leather and plastic caps for his fingers and had to learn how to play again. it the 60s there was very little help for him. But as we know today it turned out great for him as he is one of the top 5 guitarist. I also that if tony didn't have that accident he wouldn't have had the hard sound he made because of the leather caps. That he still uses today. You can see them in this video. Hi Aaliyah! Ozzy has one of those voices that gets referenced a lot in vocal discussions because it's so unique. Yes. tempo and volume will always be associated with hard and intense, high energy rock. But what Sabbath is BEST known for is how "heavy" they were. There IS a difference as Aaliyah had noticed with the slower tempos still being intense. They broke the mold in that regard. Bands would later try to capture that heaviness, some successful, some not. I was never a rabid Sabbath fan, I was more into Ozzy's solo stuff. But seeing this performance for the first time is actually revealing how good Ozzy's voice was back then. Thanks Aaliyah, Awesome synopsis!
This must have absolutely blown peoples minds in 1970. I mean....Sugar Shack was playing on the radio at the same time. I'll bet that audience walked out of that concert feeling like they were mugged.
I just see one of my favorite bands in history... Pioneers of "heavy" playing. For sure their style was much "dirty & rude" than other bands, playing more "technically" (Pink Floyd, Yes, ELP, King Crimson, Genesis, etc.), but it was on Black Sabbath that the whole stream of metal music (that is, the one that created me) was based. I will only add that it was probably Tony iommi (not Lommi) who created this technique of playing the guitar called "metal-riff", as unfortunately he lost his fingers in an accident and started playing these "riffs" with 2/3 fingers. And this had a great influence on: the simplification of the melody (punk, punk-rock, grindcore music) and the heaviness, the power of the musicians (metal). Let's add great musicians (wonderful and characteristic vocals of Ozzie, drums + bass guitar) and we have a set 😍😍 Bye bye Aaliyah See ya! And let's remember that Ozzy in those years: opened his mouth (technically speaking) to sing and danced (technically speaking) how and when the f**k he wanted 🤣🤣🤣 I'm sorry for the bad words but I had to write this 😇😇😇 that's a spirit
So cool to see younger people appreciating classic rock and metal. Gives me hope! Just discovered your channel with Rainbow's "Stargazer", going to check out Iron Maiden after this. Rock on! 🤘
By the way, about nasal resonance; it seems to be an English thing! Apparently, something They're born with! By the way, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR REACTIONS! They're so genuine! Seeing you get astounded and amazed by things that do the same thing to everyone else, all of us! FABULOUS!!! That's why I subscribe to you just now! But... About the performance, and not just this one... Trust me on this... It IS A PERFORMANCE! You have to do it like that every time you perform, whether you feel it or not,; It's an act!!! I did it for years! It doesn't matter how you feel, you just have to make it look EASY AND FUN!... Whether it is or NOT 😸😸😸!!! And as far as Ozzy... You can only understand him when he's singing!... Have you ever heard him speak??? He's what the English people call a broomie! And there is no Broomie to English dictionary! 😸 And, I kind of get why you watch the live versions of these songs, but I'd rather see your reaction to the studio versions! Or at least your reaction to the live versions, AFTER You've heard the studio version! And, I do really, really like how you research the bands and the songs! GREAT JOB! WAY BETTER THAN THE CHARISMATIC VOICE! She only reacts and responds to "paying"subscribers!!!!!!!! I hope you're not like her!!!!!!!!!!! And, being that you're a queen fan, I would ABSOLUTELY HIGHLY RECOMMEND listening to the first seven studio albums that they recorded!!!!!!!!!! I GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL BE FLATTENED!!!!!!!!!!!
I have read a few comments about this video and I agree with what people are saying about you and the basics of the song. However, what I did not really see anyone comment about is how this song hit us with a tone of bricks back in the day. The Vietnam War was going on, with a lot of protests and also civil rights was being implemented. I myself was bussed from Maryland to downtown DC and the inner city kids were bussed to what should have been my school. I am a Lumbee Indian who lived in a neighborhood with Air Force Brats outside Andrews Air Force Base. I was very aware of what was happening including the assassination of MLK and Robert Kennedy. I won't keep giving you a history lesson, but this song is more than just a song.
Take a deeper dive into Tony Iommi in how he invented the heavy metal sound w/ this 5 min video on YT titled "The Horrific Accident That Created Heavy Metal." It's worth your time and very inspirational.
It is always a sight to behold and hear when a four or five piece group holds such individual talent and come together as a living breathing unit. Ozzy was and is a supreme band leader who absolutely loved his job from his teen years to now. in this performance he literally re writes all the lyrics just because he can...every song they did held a powerful message and your brilliant reaction shows that great music remains relevant no matter the passage of time...looking forward to your future, Aaliyah
Great reaction. I know it's normal for the singer & lead guitarist to be the focus of attention, but for me, Geezer Butler & Bill Ward will always be the greatest rhythm section in rock music. PS - the lyrics (like in most BS songs) are written by Geezer.
I agree with the suggestion that you listen to the studio version with the finalized, mature version of the lyrics. The sound and tone of the song on the album are so haunting and the meaning of the song becomes much clearer. Maybe watch a lyric video if you're so inclined. The drummer Bill Ward kills it in this video, they could have just kept the camera on him! BTW, the guitarist, Tony Iommi, is pronounced 'Eye oh me.' He lost some fingertips in an accident at his factory job, started wearing prosthetic ones to play, and down-tuned his guitar so the strings wouldn't vibrate with quite as much tension. This led to a lower tone in his iconic riffs and gave birth the heavy metal sound. More Black Sabbath please! Can you react to 'Supernaut.' please? Or 'Hand of Doom?'
Our sweet songbird. You should check out one of the best vocalist ever Robert plant of led zeppelin. There song "" since I've been loving you'" live at Madison square garden 1973..
Great reaction. I just want to second everyone saying you should hear the studio version with the finalized lyrics. It's one of great anti-war songs ever (though this is an amazing live version too, so raw & great). Geezer, the bassist, wrote most of the band's lyrics and he was a great lyricist. You should hear Hand of Doom, another great song w/ great lyrics, that also showcases how great Geezer and Bill (drummer) could swing. In War Pigs live you can see Bill's a beast, but he could swing like mad and play beautifully, almost orchestral fills too.
Nice reaction. I hope you do more Sabbath - with both Ozzy and Ronnie James Dio as their singers. Thanks for the technical breakdown. And thanks for the smile. Enjoyed all of it.

Ozzy in Black Sabbath is the only time I'll accept rhyming masses with masses 😋

The masses agree 💯
Exactly!
It's because the record company thought, "watch them eat dead rat's innards" was too much and made them rewrite the lyrics.
The masses at mass.

Let's add great musicians (wonderful and characteristic vocals of Ozzie, drums + bass guitar) and we have a set 😍😍
Bye bye Aaliyah
See ya!
And let's remember that Ozzy in those years: opened his mouth (technically speaking) to sing and danced (technically speaking) how and when the f**k he wanted 🤣🤣🤣
I'm sorry for the bad words but I had to write this 😇😇😇 that's a spirit
😍😍😍
The God Father of Metal !!🤘🤘🤘
🥰
Great Bill Ward.
And Tony, Geezer, and Ozzy.
Thanks for your reaction to this awesome track.
Good luck to you, sister, greetings from 🇨🇱😃♥️
Thanks so much to you too and warm greetings🌺
*It's just such an iconic song....you don't realize this song is during the Vietnam war time*
Oh thanks for sharing 🌺
@@AaliyahCapili Sure thing
The beginning of heavy metal.
😍😍😍
Great tune, enjoyed your reaction. Ozzy's one of a kind.
Thanks so much
So cool to see younger people appreciating classic rock and metal. Gives me hope! Just discovered your channel with Rainbow's "Stargazer", going to check out Iron Maiden after this. Rock on! 🤘
Thank you very very much for your kind support💕
this was the spng that got me into metal... at age 5... excellent choice, muh fwen
🥰
"war pigs" - and nothing has changed!
🥰
The lyrics of this song have evolved and changed alot - I actually forgot this version.
🥰
those drums better be 18yo... they got smashed hard... what a beast!

Thank you very much for sharing this story and info, much appreciated🌺🌺🌺
Black Sabbath 1968-eternity🤘
🥰
,.... TILL THE END OF THE UNIVERSE, MATE❤🎉😊!!! BERNIE GERMANY 😊
Take a deeper dive into Tony Iommi in how he invented the heavy metal sound w/ this 5 min video on YT titled "The Horrific Accident That Created Heavy Metal." It's worth your time and very inspirational.
Thanks for sharing Mr. Jim
Thank you very much Mr. Richard💕
Everybody had a great performance here (we see you, Tony Iommi!) but Bill could Ward off evil spirits with that drumming! Great reaction too🙌🤘
Thanks so much🌺
Bass and drums make this song!
🥰
Great reaction. I know it's normal for the singer & lead guitarist to be the focus of attention, but for me, Geezer Butler & Bill Ward will always be the greatest rhythm section in rock music. PS - the lyrics (like in most BS songs) are written by Geezer.
Thanks for the insights🌺
Thanks for sharing Mr. Chris💕
You should listen to “hand of doom” from sabbath. And Air Dance.
Thanks for your recommendation
Drums. He's beating the skins off of them
🥰
Our sweet songbird. You should check out one of the best vocalist ever Robert plant of led zeppelin. There song "" since I've been loving you'" live at Madison square garden 1973..
Thanks for sharing💕
The guitarist is playing without 2 of his fingertips, which he lost in a factory accident as a teenager
Thanks for sharing😔😔😔
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is another killer effort.
😊
Thank you. I always rated Ozzy on the vocals.
🥰
Great reaction. I just want to second everyone saying you should hear the studio version with the finalized lyrics. It's one of great anti-war songs ever (though this is an amazing live version too, so raw & great). Geezer, the bassist, wrote most of the band's lyrics and he was a great lyricist. You should hear Hand of Doom, another great song w/ great lyrics, that also showcases how great Geezer and Bill (drummer) could swing. In War Pigs live you can see Bill's a beast, but he could swing like mad and play beautifully, almost orchestral fills too.
Thanks so much for your recommendations
You'll go far no matter what you choose to do... You're GORGEOUS 😍 ‼️
Oh wow thanks so much
That drummer tho, he is beating those drums like they owe him money
🌺🌺🌺
Two words. Led. Zeppelin. Anything is good by them but check out Stairway to Heaven to soar to some new sights. 🏔️
Thanks so much for your recommendation

When you're 21 yrs old like ozzy was right there, you'll find that energy at the start..
🥰
Nice reaction. I hope you do more Sabbath - with both Ozzy and Ronnie James Dio as their singers. Thanks for the technical breakdown. And thanks for the smile. Enjoyed all of it.
Thanks for sharing👌
Id say Sabbath started Head banging

You should check out Deep Purple. Their song Child in Time performed live will probably blow your mind.
