Dio is definitely one of the best vocalists in the genre of rock/metal. Dio attributes his great breathe control with playing trumpet in band in high school.
I say this all the time, Ronnie was a genuinely good guy, he was so cool with his fans, never got caught up in heavy drugs and hard drinking and all the other scandalous and shocking non-sense so many other rock musicians and celebrities get caught up in, every word, every nuance, it was not just theater shtick for the sake of it, he means every word, he truly belonged to music, live performance and heavy metal. He saw the world a bit differently and shared those insights with us all...and holy smokes, what a voice! (He was only 5 foot 4 inches tall btw, but he could command an entire arena,) he fully understood stage presence and theater.
Dio was truly one of a kind. He acquired his vocal talents and amazing breath control from playing a trumpet as a child. He fully understood how to weave theatrics into a performance, as well as being able to ad-lib during a performance. His ability to place a note wherever he desired and shape it upon demand is only matched by Dennis DeYoung (Styx' former singer). He was a showman in every sense of the word, which is why Ritchie Blackmore enlisted him in Rainbow and Tony Iommi grabbed him for Black Sabbath and again for Heaven & Hell. On top of his talent, he truly adored his fans and never turned a fan away. Aside from Vivian Campbell, I've never heard someone talk ill of Dio, which is astonishing given how childish many rock musicians can act. PS - Stryper's cover of Heaven and Hell is the best I've ever heard.

Great reaction Aaliyah! Dio is one of my favourite singers. I never had the opportunity to see Dio live though, but a friend of me did see him live several times. He said Dio was always excellent and he said he also had this amazing ability to make you feel that he was singing especially for you.
Great reaction our beautiful song 👉 🕊️ 👈 I was at this concert. But I was there to see my hero the guitar player Tony iommi " Tony has a amazing story right before he was to cut his first album he was working in a steel foundry and it was his last day and his day off but his mother made him fill guilty so he went in to work she didn't won't him to be a musician. Close to time to get off some how his glove got caught in the metal press and chopped off the tips pass the finger nails of 4 of his cord fingers he was very depressed he knew it was over I forgot who it was that visited him in the hospital but he gave Tony encouragement. So Tony made some plastic and then leather caps to go over the 4 finger tips and he has to learn how the play the guitar again. But I think it was a blessing because I think the reason he has them hard driving riffs is beyond them plastic leather tips that he still uses to this day. Now I Was blown away with Dio at this concert You wouldn't think a man that small had that much power in him. There was a few notes that felt like it went right through me.. 👉🤯👈 A little fact about Dio when he's throwing the rock horns🤘 people thought it was to be cool. He is Italian his grandmother was superstitious and and in her culture to trow the " rock or devil horns " it was to ward off evil. That's what he's doing but it people thought it was cool and it caught on and people have been doing it every since not knowing why.. he should have patented it..
Saw these guys a few times. Once a bit later w/ one of the 2 times they played w/ Rob Halford as their front man. I think Dio was playing w/ Heaven & Hell at the time headlining the show (Not exactly 100% sure about that being the same concert). Plus one w/ Ozzy on his 1st reunion tour w/ the band. Dio did introduce the hand sign, but it's origin is actually from his grandmother from Italy meaning protection from the evil eye or giving the evil eye whichever is intended. It became a symbol of rock n roll after Dio started using it on stage and was imitated by others.
Rob Halford played 3 concerts with BS. 1992 Costa Mesa, California when there was the chance for a Reunion with Ozzy and Dio didn't want to play this concert, because of Ozzy joining the stage. So Rob played 2 shows with BS in 1992.. 2004: Ozzfest. Ozzy had a Bronchitis and Sharon asked Rob to stand in for Ozzy. So he did. Heaven & Hell (the band) was from 2006 - 2010, when Ronnie R.I.P. died🤘🤘🤘🤘🎤

They don't just sing a song; (as I'm sure you're aware) they perform. In the future I would love to hear some of your thoughts about the different vocal techniques used by classical singers and rock singers.
Dio was so Amazing! I had the privilege of seeing him on his Dream Evil tour at the legendary and defunct Hara Arena, in Dayton Ohio! Opening acts were Megadeth ( so far so good so what) and Savatage ( hall of the mountain king ) ! 🤘

You should give A Quick One While He's Away by the Who at the Rock & Roll Circus. They do some interesting things like singing the word "cello" because they couldn't afford a cello player for the original recording.
Great reaction as always....I had the honor to see this Legend of Rock 'n Roll in concert many years ago in New Orleans and one more time in Buenos Aires in Argentina....For my opinion Dio was the greatest singer in history of all kinds of rock music ever... GREATEST male metal vocalist of all time end of story! Saw him in a bar in 91ish of about 800 people and he did his 2 best albums of dio holy diver and last in line album in its entirety back to back song after song just as numbered on the album... at 5"2" and his voice larger than any mountain! I saw Ronnie live about six or seven times as front man for his own band and whenever he toured, tickets were what I always call “auto purchase” ….no brain involved. He always gave his all in every performance and the last time I saw him, 2005 his voice was still strong and rich. Rest In Peace Ronnie. So it’s really heartwarming watching people discovering him for the first time and falling in love with him. PS Geezer Butler on bass is sooooooo underrated and under appreciated.
Yeah, always saw Dio when we had the chance, first with Elf, who opened for Deep Purple/Aerosmith in 1974, then saw him 3 times each with Rainbow and Black Sabbath. Always in the debate for best hard rock/metal singer.
Dio is the guy who made that hand gesture a rock / metal icon. It comes from an old superstion called "The Maliok"... the Evil Eye... if you point it at some one, it "gives" the Evil Eye, or if you aim it upward, it blocks it. Ronnies italian grandmother used to do it all the time... Ronnie just repurposed it for rock n roll. Always remember thoughm.. tuck the thumb in ;)
This is a great performance from back when they gained tons of new Sabbath fans due to Dio. For me, the very best version of this song is at Wakken 2009, though Dio is older he still brings it. What sets it apart for me is Tony Iommi, its the best I ever heard him play with Dio and the whole band is in amazing, launching extended jams. Look for the video of Heaven and Hell there that is 19.32 long which includes the song and all the jamming that revolves around it. One of the best live shows they ever did and one of Iommi's greatest moments. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶

Dio truly loved his fans!! Even when he was in pain, affected with cancer, he performed live; made a brand new metal album; new animated songs. ALL FOR HIS FANS!!!
Hi, I just stumbled on your reaction, good reaction and I liked your thoughts! I love this telling this story, so incase you dont know Dio actually popularized the hand gesture 🤘he used alot in his live perfomances while in Black Sabbath. Little known fact is, he got it from his Italian grandmother, who being a very religious lady used it during his childhood "against the evil eye" To this day its used so much especially during rock concerts around the world!
It's always insane to think that a little 5'4 man commanded so much power in his voice and presence. He's sometimes nicknamed "The Elf" because of his appearance and his penchant for singing songs about fantastical topics. I'm biased, but I think he should be an influence on any singer of the modern age. He's a perfect role model for how to really command an audience in a live setting.
Have a look at the guitar fretting at 17.26 you can clearly see guitarist Tony Iommi is wearing finger tip protectors. He cut his finger tips off in an industrial accident early in his career. Regular tuned tight strings were too painful for him to play so he slackened his strings off for a deeper sound and heavy metal was born
Great reaction. Your expressions were entertaining. As you assemble a list in your mind of future reactions - i hope you put Slayer on your list somewhere - they have explosive live performances. Thanks again for this one.
@@AaliyahCapili Great news! 😊🤘🏼 Keep your good mood, professionnalism intact its so refreshing !! ) sorry Im french, not a native english speaker, obviously 😅)
Another fun reaction video! As you have already reacted to Ian Gillan's vocals with Deep Purple, you might be interested in checking out his (very brief) tenure in Black Sabbath. In 1983, Gillan sang lead on the Black Sabbath album "Born Again", laying down some absolutely brutal vocals. He goes for broke on songs such as "Disturbing the Priest" and "Hot Line", and "Keep it Warm" is a great, anthemic ballad. The album is one fans either love or hate, and Gillan has stated that he was the worst singer Black Sabbath ever had, but I think it is a great album, albeit with terrible production. Fingers crossed that we will get a 40th anniversary remixed edition now that the master tapes have been located. Rock on Aaliyah!🤘
I love this! But it still seems a bit surreal to me that a Classically Trained Opera Singer of your age is retracing the path of my misspent youth from decades ago..! Love your takes, thoughts and insights - this just re-energizes my recall of all those experiences from those olden dayz. ANOTHER great react kiddo! Cheers rl 🤘👹🤘
Loved your reaction and am learning (about the hand sign) in the comment section. Thanks, Aaliyah! Been working with a young woman yesterday. And she stated, how she loves the fact that everyone knows each other and how the fans are so well informed. Here is a little contribution of mine: I lately watched Floor Jansen live in Hamburg. Opening for her was Anneke van Giersbergen. Rumour says, that listening to Anneke with the Gathering made Floor choose to sing metal. (When you're able to sing everything: there are quite some options ;-) Floor, during that concert confirmed that it actually was Anneke, to make that decision. Furthermore: when the concert was over, the song played from tape was exactly that one song: "Strange machines" by The Gathering. Maybe you wanna take a look @ that song, first. "Live at PinkPop Festival" would be my suggestion. Welcome again to the rabbit hole. Greetings from the far north of Germany!
I like you you're just enjoying the music. I've seen a lot of reaction videos. They criticize they put down the band. They haven't got a clue what it's like to have a 100,000 people in front of you jamming to your song and they know every word. You don't criticize you're just enjoying the music I like that a lot nobody's heard them saying nobody gives a s***so shut up and enjoy the music
Aaliyah It was stated that RJD learned "Horns Fingers" from his grandmother. RJD started out young during late 1950's to early 1960's singing in groups in the Northeast Region of USA. There are audio recordings of RJD in that era on RUclips.

Dio truly loved his fans!! Even when he was in pain, affected with cancer, he performed live; made a brand new metal album; new animated songs. ALL FOR HIS FANS!!!
🌺🌺🌺
I love how you "Really" got into it🤘🤘🤘
Thanks so much
"Amazing" is right. Love you and BSab
🥰

Thanks for sharing🥰
Hi, I just stumbled on your reaction, good reaction and I liked your thoughts! I love this telling this story, so incase you dont know Dio actually popularized the hand gesture 🤘he used alot in his live perfomances while in Black Sabbath. Little known fact is, he got it from his Italian grandmother, who being a very religious lady used it during his childhood "against the evil eye" To this day its used so much especially during rock concerts around the world!
Thank you very much for sharing, much appreciated
It's always insane to think that a little 5'4 man commanded so much power in his voice and presence. He's sometimes nicknamed "The Elf" because of his appearance and his penchant for singing songs about fantastical topics. I'm biased, but I think he should be an influence on any singer of the modern age. He's a perfect role model for how to really command an audience in a live setting.
Thanks for sharing😍
I don't always listen to Black Sabbath, but when I do, so do the neighbors!
🥰🥰🥰
May 16, 2010 we lost one of the greatest singer songwriter, stage man of all times RIP RJD
😔
Dio is a Legendary Boss. Performance is 🔥. I miss him so much. Rest easy my brother 🙏🤘
🌺🌺🌺
It must have been fun to be Ronnie and be able to make your voice do pretty much anything you want it to. 🤘
🥰🥰🥰
Have a look at the guitar fretting at 17.26 you can clearly see guitarist Tony Iommi is wearing finger tip protectors. He cut his finger tips off in an industrial accident early in his career. Regular tuned tight strings were too painful for him to play so he slackened his strings off for a deeper sound and heavy metal was born
Thanks so much for sharing🌺💕🌺
Love the juxtaposition of your singing and RJD's
🥰🥰🥰
The smile. Enjoy.
😊😊😊
Great reaction. Your expressions were entertaining. As you assemble a list in your mind of future reactions - i hope you put Slayer on your list somewhere - they have explosive live performances. Thanks again for this one.
Thank you very much for your recommendation
I saw this show live.. it was so great.. Dio sounds so good live..
😍

🥰🥰🥰
O James Ronie Dio, com sua voz linda, é insubstituível!
Great reaction! Hope you will do some rock/ heavy stuff again ! =)
Thanks so much, i will definitely do
@@AaliyahCapili Great news!
This Album had to much Bass frequencies....
@@martinkasper197 Very true! The muddy sound detracts from the cool songs and fine performances from the band, especially Gillan’s singing.
Aaliyah there is a documentary on Ronnie and his life that is a must watch.
Thank you very much for all the recommendations, feedback and sharing. Much appreciated♥️🌺♥️
Una principessa

Dio was not just a beautiful voice but a beautiful human being and I am sure he continues on and on even though he is gone from us.

Black Sabbath 1968-eternity🤘

I love this! But it still seems a bit surreal to me that a Classically Trained Opera Singer of your age is retracing the path of my misspent youth from decades ago..!
Love your takes, thoughts and insights - this just re-energizes my recall of all those experiences from those olden dayz.
ANOTHER great react kiddo!
Cheers

The world is full of Kings and Queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your Dreams
It's Heaven and Hell !!!!!!!
🥰
Loved your reaction and am learning (about the hand sign) in the comment section. Thanks, Aaliyah!
Been working with a young woman yesterday. And she stated, how she loves the fact that everyone knows each other and how the fans are so well informed. Here is a little contribution of mine:
I lately watched Floor Jansen live in Hamburg. Opening for her was Anneke van Giersbergen.
Rumour says, that listening to Anneke with the Gathering made Floor choose to sing metal. (When you're able to sing everything: there are quite some options ;-)
Floor, during that concert confirmed that it actually was Anneke, to make that decision.
Thank you very much for sharing, much appreciated. Thanks for your recommendation too

Thank you very much for your kind appreciation🥰have a wonderful day always💕
Aaliyah
It was stated that RJD learned "Horns Fingers" from his grandmother. RJD started out young during late 1950's to early 1960's singing in groups in the Northeast Region of USA. There are audio recordings of RJD in that era on RUclips.
