I'd call it hard rock rather than metal and I love both. There is NO denying the talent, you are correct about that but that applies to every artist on that stage, this is just how it had to be done back when there was nothing but skill. I adore Iron Maiden and I am a real metal girl, normally on the groove and trash metal side: you nailed it! Iron Maiden is for me the musical/theater metal cause of their compositions and way of story telling! 🤘❤️
The craziest thing about Bruce is, he never had lessons. He pretty much taught himself by practicing and singing in various small bands at school. He just has a natural talent. He did end up having some coaching in 2015 as he recovered from treatment for throat cancer. To go with that powerful voice, he has a massive stage presence, and he says that he makes sure that whatever he does on stage is big so that the people at the back of the crowd can see what he’s doing. The fact that he’s in his 60s now and can still sing in the original key (yes he has to push a little harder, but he still gets up there) says a lot for how well he has looked after his voice (and his body) throughout his career, where other vocalists of his generation have lost it to varying degrees and now sing in lower keys or even completely lower octaves. May your journey through your own singing career be as long lived, keep studying not just your preferred genre, but others too. I would suggest looking at Floor Jansen (currently of Nightwish) as inspiration, she has learned many styles of singing and is hugely proficient in all forms of vocalisation.
Saw Iron Maiden in San Diego for the first time last September and completely blew my mind. I always knew of them but after seeing them live WOW AMAZING!! They are truly one of the best bands ever assembled.
Thank you for doing the reaction- You are so young yet you recognize GREAT talent- I have been rocking with these guys since I was 16 yrs old- I am almost 50 yrs old- much love young lady Iron Maiden is pure talent......
This is arguably their greatest hit among scores of hits. Also, this (Live at Hammersmith '82) is the best show for Bruce's vocals. The only problem is the band's catalog isn't very large in 1982. To see the full scope of Bruce's vocal talent as well as that of the band, try Rime of the Ancient Mariner next. Too many songs to suggest further, but my next 2 favs are Wasted Years & The Number of the Beast (no, it's not a satanic song, though the subject is part of the song). For other great vocals try Queensryche - Take Hold of the Flame (live in Tokyo 1984) & Silent Lucidity, plus Steelheart - She's Gone. Great voices in the metal genre. (Can't remember if you've done these). Happy belated birthday!!
His vocals in Infinite Dreams is probably the best he had ever recorded. I would also say Flight of Icarus or Children of the Damned are next best. Can't forget Invaders or Prisoner. I would strongly suggest any of these songs before Rime. Not that Rime isn't a classic choice, but like The Trooper or Run to the Hills, its all you ever see anyone reacting too. Man, just once would I love to see one of these reactors give Die With Your Boots On or 22 Acacia Avenue a spin.
@@bevil4aday I suggested Rime because it showed more of his vocal spectrum than most of his other works in a single piece of music. The others only show a smaller part of Bruce's talent. It's not likely that reactors will go that deep into their catalog as you suggest, so naming the tunes that show the most is probably the best for a start, then adding more later. But, love those suggestions!
I've been seeing reactions to the kings of heavy metal for a long time, like IRON MAIDEN in this case. I loved your reaction so much that my eyes misted over with emotion to see such a talented and genuine young lady enjoy so much this incredible band of which I have been a fan since 1982. I congratulate you enormously because it is only for the truly talented and humble, recognize the talent of the greatest of all time and that will make you grow beyond all limits. Greetings from Argentina 🙌👏👏👏❤
There are only 2 forms of music that I have any time, interest or appreciation for in any way, shape or form - Metal & Opera. Why? Because of their power to make your reaction!! You appreciate the technical difficulties of both. You respect the creativity & expression of both & you obviously enjoy the magic of both. Thank you for sharing with us.
You're listening to one of the anthems of heavy metal. Glad to see you're enjoying this, as we did when we first heard Iron Maiden. Bruce Dickinson is special.
What you just saw and heard is why you see Iron Maiden T shirts world wide, they have Millions of fans and have been killing it since 1980. Nice of you to take a look and listen, as another mentioned, Queensryche is another band in the same musical category and their live video, in Tokyo 1984, of Take Hold of the Flame would give you a similar experience and jolt of energy. Thanks for keeping great music alive, no matter when it was made! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
What's impressive is that metal bands like this, especially back then, used nearly no studio technology tricks to make a singer seem more impressive than in reality. Live shows by Iron Maiden were always amazing. (If you have them coming around your area on tour, go see it ! You have to see a Maiden show before the band retire, it is mandatory metal.)
Maiden still tours. Bruce still sounds amazing. I never miss a show when they were in Jersey. You need to see them live. It’s an experience. Go before they are no longer touring. You won’t regret it.
This is with their first drummer “Clive Burr” and it’s also before Bruce had his throat cancer surgery and polyps removed. In the years since, he still sings with such amazing vocal talent. His voice is almost operatic within an incredible heavy metal format. They have always been incredible to watch and to listen to. 💪😉👏👏👏🇦🇺
I saw Clive play in Maiden twice in the early 80’s and he was a phenomenal drummer, and a perfectionist. His timing was impeccable. OMG I love Nicko’s drumming, but I am old school. I really do love both drummers but if I had to choose, Clive would be my choice, 😉👏❤@@johndubois8228
Thanks for your reaction. Bruce Dickinson is a legend and so is Iron Maiden. You couldn't find a better song and a better performance for your reaction. Keep on rockin' young woman... up the irons !!! ^^
First reaction I’ve seen where the last “Hallowed be thy name” is clearly recognized. “Running looowww” gets most of the attention due to the length, change in pitch and as a lead in to the tempo change. But at the end, after all that, he pulls off an epic belt of the title…. The man, and band, are legendary.
I’m subscribing simply because you reacted to this epic, classic song. I can tell you were completely into it. Keep reacting to great metal bands; your number of subscribers will blow up.
This is my favourite Maiden song, gives me a bit of tears in my eyes each time, Dickinson is an awesome singer U should listen to the lyrics too though, it is quite chilling.. it is the story of a man sentenced to death by hanging and the lyrics are his thoughts on his way to the gallows pole It starts with "Waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime...", he hears the bells announcing it is the time for him Many metal bands have a very good story or a message
Bruce's voice is absolutely amazing. He's been operatically trained, which is how he's able to do all those things effortlessly. He's also a pilot and brewer among other things, led a very interesting life.
This is probably my favorite Iron Maiden song, when I was young I had no passion for music at all but when I first heard Iron Maiden play I fell in love with music. Back then, if you were someone who listened to this music, where I grew up you were seen as a weirdo, but today it's great to see that so many young people have the open-mindedness to appreciate the brilliance of this fantastic band.
This is probably their best performance ever. Equivalent to Deep Purple's "Made in Japan", in terms how much this elevates the original studio material to new levels. They have never reached the standards of this particular live ever again to my recollection, and this says A LOT, since they are an astounding live band in general
I'm so glad you picked a performance where he really held out that "running looooow" like he does on the album as well as the ending belt. I've seen other performances where he cuts it short and it's kind of disappointing to see people react to Maiden for the first time and not get the full Bruce lol.
Bruce Dickinson has an operatic voice. This is 1 of the songs Iron Maiden often plays in concerts. BD influenced Geoffrey Tate, ex lead singer of Queensryche. Suggested videos 📹: 1 Iron Maiden performs Run to the Hills. 2 Queensryche performs I Don't Believe in Love. 💔
It’s great to see young people appreciate Iron Maiden. They are a great band that get little love in the media, but huge stadiums crammed with people from 6 years old to 90 years old know better. Up the Irons!!
You know you made it when you fly your own jumbo jet to your shows with a big Eddie on the side. I have loved this band for more than 30yrs nice to see young people appreciating the music just like I did.
I love your reactions! Another great vocalist with great storytelling is Ronnie James Dio. He has so many great performances. A good one to start with would be when he was fronting the band Rainbow and performing “Stargazer.”
Love seeing when you dive into some metal. Maiden is in a class by themselves and should be experienced as live videos. Nearly every song has historical significance or is poetry broken down and explained in their own ways. Keep looking into them, you'll enjoy it.
Watching a young person fully appreciate Bruce is so much fun for those of us that grew up with him. Also the band is fucking amazing!!! Bon voyage young lady
Some fun facts about Bruce Dickinson. He is entirely self-taught. One of the most amusing comments on that fact that I have ever heard was when he launched his autobiography "What does this button do" in 2017 and at the launch event did a Q&A session. The best question by far was: "After your recent treatment for throat cancer (which was actually in 2015), did you have any vocal coaching, and if so, how much did they learn from you?". Following this successful treatment he not only regained his voice, but also his fitness to the standard of regaining his Airline Transport Pilot's Licence Flight Crew Medical Certificate at the age of 58, leasing a Boeing 747-400 through his aviation business, and taking the Captain's seat, piloting the band himself on a world tour - an upgrade to his previous type rating for the 757/767. The upsizing was necessary to haul the band, crew, and all the stage set, lighting and PA equipment required for stadium scale shows. He was invited to try out for the British Olympic fencing team (he was at one time rated 7th in the Uk in the sport, despite it being a very part-time hobby), but decided he didn't have time, but still fenced recreationally, often taking time on tour to train with teams around the world (fencing is a sport in which you improve by competing against a wide variety of opponents, not just a small group who rapidly learn each others' favourite moves, and any signs they may give away their intentions by). He has trained with national teams all over the world, and several competitors have commented that he gave them some of the hardest contests in their experience, including Olympic medalists. He also flies aerobatically (which requires huge core strength) and owns a genuine Spitfire and a replica Fokker Dr.1 Triplane, both of which he was display qualified in until fairly recently at least. A serious aerobic pilot experiences rapid changes in g forces ranging from positive six to nine (depending on if a specialised G suit is worn) to negative three to five. Those are multiples of gravitational force, so at 6g you weigh six times your normal weight and extreme core straining is needed to keep the blood from pooling in your legs, so it is absolutely brutal on core strength - you have to literally squeeze the blood to your brain by clenching all leg and core muscles to prevent loss of consciousness, which is discouraged in pilots. But he was doing it into at least his early 60s (he is 64 now and still going strong). This recording is from over 40 years ago now! Back in the days not long after this was recorded, one of his almost trademark moves when running around the stage was to leap from the gallery (which runs around most of their more recent sets behind the drummer and around to the front on both wings of the stage) right OVER the drummer and entire drumkit, landing with a forward roll and up to standing, without missing a beat. That is about 3M forwards before a 2M drop from a standing start, so probably a couple more metres during the descent part. And he keeps it up for a whole 90-minute set. So yes, he has always had and maintained immense core strength and stamina! There is a lot more besides that, too, but this comment is probably already too long!
Just to bring everyboy up to speed,Bruce is no longer piloting, had to retire due to FAA regulations, and i'm very sad to report that the 747 they had used on the Book of Souls tour has been officially retired and is no longer in service! All Hail to QUEEN and Up The Irons!!!
@@kenbongaards554 What does the FAA have to do with the licence of a pilot issued by a foreign country? He has never flown under FAA regulations, beyond complying with those applicable to foreign pilots' behaviour and actions while in the US. The 747 may have been retired but that was only on lease anyway.
@@kenbongaards554 Only if they are piloting a US registered aircraft - I have looked into it, as I was in exactly that position but not with such an advanced licence.
Iron Maiden is amazing .. besides Bruce's vocal skill, this band is unmatched in their songwriting, and tightness. I would suggest several more songs from the beast album as well as the 3 that followed..

I've listened to a bunch of reactions to this previously, but I figured I throw a little love to a "new kid on the block" ... enjoy!
Awww thanks so much Mr. Sean for your kind support, much appreciated💕
I'm so glad to see that when such a young person is introduced to Iron Maiden - it is during their greatest era, which included Clive Burr on drums and their greatest songs. Great video, and good luck in the future.
Thanks so much💕
I love seeing people reacting to Iron Maiden and instantly become a fan. I saw them live on Friday in London and they are still amazing.
Wow thanks for sharing
How was Bruce voice?
@@marriusmal he was absolutely spot on! Phenomenal, he was still getting all over the place but maybe he didn’t jump as high as he used to. The voice is still fantastic though. A tour of Senjitsu and old songs from the wasted years era.
One of my favorites from them. Both from a musical perspective, as well as a storytelling one.
😍😍😍
Surely one of the greatest live performances ever.
Up the Irons! 🤘🏻
😍😍😍
So glad you enjoyed this song. Your analysis is interesting from a 'different perspective'. Best of luck in your singing career. Sing loud, sing proud, be joyous!
Thanks so much Mr. Jeff
Yes Yes Yeeesssss Aaliyah.. Please keep on going down that rabbit hole... You WON'T regret it i promise. I hope to see you do more live versions of their songs as they are great performers on stage.

Well expressed, my Danish Iron Brother🤗
Up the mighty Irons!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thanks so much Mr. Henrik, i will definitely keep on 😍😍😍Warm Greetings to you as well♥️
I adore Iron Maiden and I am a real metal girl, normally on the groove and trash metal side: you nailed it! Iron Maiden is for me the musical/theater metal cause of their compositions and way of story telling! 🤘❤️
Oh thanks so much Miss Monika💕💕💕
Thank you very much for sharing, he is truly amazing and inspiring, thanks for your kind words and encouragement, much appreciated♥️
he is a trained opera singer and he did this before he joined maiden.
It’s a beautiful thing seeing young people discovering rock music. Your face said it all. It will be under your skin for the rest of your life.
Thanks so much Mr. John, they are amazing
Saw Iron Maiden in San Diego for the first time last September and completely blew my mind. I always knew of them but after seeing them live WOW AMAZING!! They are truly one of the best bands ever assembled.
Thanks for sharing🥰
Thank you for doing the reaction- You are so young yet you recognize GREAT talent- I have been rocking with these guys since I was 16 yrs old- I am almost 50 yrs old- much love young lady
Iron Maiden is pure talent......
Oh thank you very much, they are so amazing🌺
Thank you very very much for the greetings and for sharing your recommendations, much appreciated always🌺
The theatricals and story-telling in Rime of the Ancient Mariner are excellent. Well, the song is, too - obviously!
@@Malfehzan Definitely agree!
Oh wow thanks so much for your kind words, much appreciated. Enjoy your day always😍😍😍

Thank you very much for your kind appreciation🌺
@@AaliyahCapili you are more than welcome. Keep up the awesome work & again, thank you for choosing to share your journey with us
They all are in their mid 60’s and still rock as hard as in the old days! Up the irons! 🤘🏻
😍😍😍
The drummer just turned 71 👀
They don't fuck around 🎵🎵🎶🎸👍💯
You're listening to one of the anthems of heavy metal.
Glad to see you're enjoying this, as we did when we first heard Iron Maiden. Bruce Dickinson is special.
😍
Your beautiful smile and enthusiasm are a joy to see.
Oh thank you so much
What you just saw and heard is why you see Iron Maiden T shirts world wide, they have Millions of fans and have been killing it since 1980. Nice of you to take a look and listen, as another mentioned, Queensryche is another band in the same musical category and their live video, in Tokyo 1984, of Take Hold of the Flame would give you a similar experience and jolt of energy. Thanks for keeping great music alive, no matter when it was made! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Thanks so much Mr. Vic for your recommemdation, much appreciated
I love how on every reaction to this song 2:29 is "hooooly SHIT!!" and 11:21 is like "ERROR..Brain malfunctioning.." lol

🥰🥰🥰
You doing this reaction is so cool...this means IRON MAIDEN are reaching out to the world
Thanks so much Mr. Joe, they are amazing
Bruce is truly the greatest front man of all time.
😍😍😍
Maiden still tours. Bruce still sounds amazing. I never miss a show when they were in Jersey. You need to see them live. It’s an experience. Go before they are no longer touring. You won’t regret it.
Thanks so much for your recommendation and for sharing💕
I'm amazed at your openess to explore other genres. That in itself is what we need more of today.
😍
This is with their first drummer “Clive Burr” and it’s also before Bruce had his throat cancer surgery and polyps removed. In the years since, he still sings with such amazing vocal talent. His voice is almost operatic within an incredible heavy metal format. They have always been incredible to watch and to listen to. 💪😉👏👏👏🇦🇺
He is so amazing and the rest of the band too😍😍😍
Clive timing was incredible.

Definitely one of the things you have to do in your life: Iron Maiden live! 🤘
😍😍😍
First reaction I’ve seen where the last “Hallowed be thy name” is clearly recognized.
“Running looowww” gets most of the attention due to the length, change in pitch and as a lead in to the tempo change.
But at the end, after all that, he pulls off an epic belt of the title….
The man, and band, are legendary.
They are so amazing and so great😍😍😍
I’m subscribing simply because you reacted to this epic, classic song. I can tell you were completely into it. Keep reacting to great metal bands; your number of subscribers will blow up.

Glad you watched a performance from when he was in his prime. He's still shockingly great for his age, but he was almost superhuman back then in '83
Thanks again for sharing Mr. Jenkins
I saw them live and even though they are older now they all still play/sing amazing I am so happy I saw them
They are amazing
Been playing this album since mid-90s, Bruce's vocals are timeless... Cool seeing their talent get cred among non-metalheads!
😍😍😍
I've seen them over a dozen times live. They are drenched in sweat as is everyone in the crowd after a few songs rocking out.
How he holds the notes is amazing especially that he does that while spending lot of energy running around the stage.
😍😍😍
Usually on tour for months two to three times a week. And don't forget the lifestyle.
I love watching people react to Iron Maiden. it’s like hearing them for the first time again.
I completely understand how a talented opera vocalist could appreciate Bruce’s skills.
😍😍😍
This is my favourite Maiden song, gives me a bit of tears in my eyes each time, Dickinson is an awesome singer
U should listen to the lyrics too though, it is quite chilling.. it is the story of a man sentenced to death by hanging and the lyrics are his thoughts on his way to the gallows pole
It starts with "Waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime...", he hears the bells announcing it is the time for him
Many metal bands have a very good story or a message
Thanks so much for sharing💕
Bruce's voice is absolutely amazing. He's been operatically trained, which is how he's able to do all those things effortlessly. He's also a pilot and brewer among other things, led a very interesting life.
Thanks so much for sharing💕
This is probably my favorite Iron Maiden song, when I was young I had no passion for music at all but when I first heard Iron Maiden play I fell in love with music. Back then, if you were someone who listened to this music, where I grew up you were seen as a weirdo, but today it's great to see that so many young people have the open-mindedness to appreciate the brilliance of this fantastic band.
Thanks so much for sharing
That stank face when the guitar solo started was everything 🤣🙏🏾
🥰🥰🥰
This is probably their best performance ever. Equivalent to Deep Purple's "Made in Japan", in terms how much this elevates the original studio material to new levels. They have never reached the standards of this particular live ever again to my recollection, and this says A LOT, since they are an astounding live band in general
Thanks so much for sharing
I really enjoy seeing talented people appreciating the talent of others, so I certainly enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing the experience!
Thanks so much too🌺
Loved your reaction. You seemed to be really enjoying all aspects of the song
Thanks so much, i really enjoyed it😍
I'm so glad you picked a performance where he really held out that "running looooow" like he does on the album as well as the ending belt.

Love seeing when you dive into some metal. Maiden is in a class by themselves and should be experienced as live videos. Nearly every song has historical significance or is poetry broken down and explained in their own ways. Keep looking into them, you'll enjoy it.

@@phillee2814 I think that if a pilot flies internationally all FAA regulations apply to all pilots,I'll look in to it
